Had a week away in northern NSW and did a day trip up to Dorrigo, as last time I went, it was 42 degrees and reasonably uncomfortable, not ideal for looking around. Stopped just before the town and spotted this rather good piece of graffiti on the overpass, so of course I took a photo. Makes sense the locals know of Yowies, since AYR has an audio report (#74) up on YouTube about a sighting there (transcribed here for those not familiar with it - http://www.yowiehunters.com.au/index.ph ... sland-2011)

That does look a lot like a cartoon version of the thing described in that account, Shaz.

Lots of stuff is common knowledge in some rural or remote areas that simply doesn't get spoken about to anyone unless they're a local themselves or it's absolutely necessary. That graffiti is telling. Nicely spotted!

It's so indistinct, I really couldn't say what it was for certain based only on those still images.
depending on the quality of the camera or the speed of the object in film at full speed its often
the case the more detail is offered in a still off the shot rather than video at normal speed unless
its a stationary subject, this goes for anything your filming

Hi mate.

I had a crack at the insert image. There are some interesting aspects to the form in the shot.

Ah, thanks. I'm not much of a cameraman, really. I used to like taking B&W photos back in school, but never got into video cameras.

"This picture was taken in 1895 by photographer Oren Jefferies while he was exploring some unmapped area of the Grand Caverns (Virginia) . Jefferies liked to use a long exposure technique to catch anything without any light what so ever. While he was setting up for his snaps, he heard something in the distance which spooked him. He set off one of his Blitzlicht flashes he used for taking traditional photos underground and ran! In a later interview he gave to a local newspaper, he said that he saw "humanoid" figures looking back at him. A few days after that he went back with a few friends to retrieve his box camera which had this picture recorded inside of it!"

Sumatran Orangutan. It seems shockingly like the general vibe one gets from the Yowie reports. Not the same creature of course but probably from the same family - Gigantopithecus. Unless it really is a large hominid from our lineage ~ i don't think there are any of those confirmed over 7ft.

Good picture... I think the hair is where the one of the biggest similarities are.

It makes sense in wet climates at least to hair long hair on the arms to wick off the water away from the body.

Interesting sketches, Wolf.
The biggest one is about the same size as the big one reported by the soldiers in the Jamieson Valley, NSW.
Also similar to the one reported near Injune/Carnarvon Gorge, Qld.
It just seems incredible that a thing that size would not be seen more often.

On the same show Duke mentioned their hair follicles to be partially hollow, allowing them to reflect colours from their surroundings... effectively a natural 'invisibility cloak' that, combined with stillness makes them 'absorb' surrounding colours and 'disappear' into the background.

I found this. Just wanted to hear people's opinions. I have no idea what to make of it - it could well be a fake and I'm 99.999% sure it is one.

Even so, I thought I'd put it here. You've probably all seen it before, but just in case people haven't seen it, here it is. It's certainly a new one to me.

Jimmy called again, louder, “Franky?”
Damn it.
Franky knew to not get out of sight of the camp.
Where in hell had he gone?

Then Jimmy heard a muffled, “That’s my brother. Wait here,” from across the stream he was following up the valley. He looked over the water to see Franky emerge from a thorny patch of brush on the far side of the stream.
“Franky! What the hell?”
Franky stood there, barefoot on the other side, and waved. Then Jimmy noticed Franky’s shoes beside the stream for the first time.
“I found him Jimmy! I found Chewbacca! I told you he was real!”
“Franky, who in hell were you talking to?” Jimmy felt suddenly afraid. Were there some weirdos out here in the woods?
“Chewbacca, Jimmy! And he’s got a friend! There’s two of em! I think the other one’s a girl!”
“A girl? Franky, you come across here right now, you hear?”
“It’s OK, Jimmy. They won’t hurt you. They like apples!”
“Apples!” Jimmy’s uneasiness grew. Suddenly the woods felt very dangerous. He was not used to feeling like this in the woods. He had never felt fear like this in all the years he had been coming out into the woods with Pa. Jimmy heard the shaking in his own voice as he shouted, “Franky! Get over here, right now!”
“Aw gee whiz Jimmy.” Franky reluctantly splashed across towards him and sat to pull his shoes back on, “stop freaking out. They won’t hurt you.”
The hair tingling on the back of his neck, Jimmy stared into the brush, trying to see any hint of whatever Franky was raving about. There was nothing there!
He stepped closer to the stream edge, in order to get a better view, was that a shape of something? Something really big?
His peripheral vision caught something flying out of the trees towards him and a large rock came splashing down into the stream, the impact soaking his trousers and running into his shoes!
“What in HELL!”
Franky started laughing but Jimmy was suddenly very scared. What in hell threw rocks? Was there somebody over there messing with him?
Then a tree started to shake, the force of it whipping the top backwards and forwards like crazy. It was not a small tree either. Who... what in the world was strong enough to do that? Distantly he heard Franky say “Uh-oh, I guess Chewbacca doesn’t like you Jimmy.”
He tore his eyes away from the tree to stare at Franky, whose face was suddenly very serious, “I think you better go now, Jimmy.”
Heavy crunching sounds whipped his head back to stare once more across the stream. Somebody, no someTHING was stomping around over there! Something very heavy. And it was obviously letting him know it was very big, and very pissed off.
Jimmy opened his mouth to shout at his brother to run, but his mouth was dry and all that came out was a hoarse croak. His mind shouted at his own legs to move but they refused, his knees shaking so bad he thought if he tried to run he would probably fall over!
What in hell was happening? Then the corner of his eye caught a blur as something leapt across the stream to his right! He swung his head trying to catch another glimpse, but it was gone. He looked at the stream, judging the distance. That was at least 20 feet! Something had just jumped twenty feet to land in the trees on his side of the stream! Jimmy felt the remaining blood drain from his face as Franky tugged on his arm, “We better go now Jimmy. Chewbacca is angry at you.”
Stupidly, all he could do was nod his head in agreement as he began to stumble away, back towards the camp. The stumble quickly turned into a wild, desperate sprint as something hidden in the trees growled at him!
His mind screamed that it was right there, practically standing in front of him when it growled, but his brain refused to register what he had thought he had seen amongst the trees. Instead he ran. His legs pumping, his feet felt like they were barely touching the ground and the crazy image of Roadrunner from the cartoons flashed into his mind, gratefully replacing the image of something very large and hairy growling at him from the trees. As he ran the hair all over his body stood on end in anticipation of being grabbed from behind at any moment.
Screaming, he ran into camp, “MOM! MOM!”
His mother jumped from the camp chair, her book slapping closed in one hand, the other yanking off her reading glasses, “Jimmy, what’s wrong?” He ran to her and buried himself into her embrace, something he had not done for many years.
“Jimmy? Are you OK? What’s going on?”
As his breath started to come back he started to tell her, “There is something in the forest... near the stream!”
“What is it Jimmy? Did you see a bear?”
Jimmy paused. He dared a look back, but all he saw was Franky trotting casually into camp, an unreadable expression on his face.
“Franky,” his mother shouted, “Did you see a bear?”
Without answering, Franky glared at Jimmy, who blinked, his mind racing. Had he seen a bear? There wasn’t supposed to be bears in this part of the country. And what kind of bear threw rocks and shook trees? And was eight feet tall? He shook his head, trying to make sense of what he thought he had seen. It was impossible. He must have imagined it!
He remembered how hard Pa had worked on his mother to finally get her to come out into the woods camping. If he told her what he thought he had seen she would think he was crazy. If he said he had seen a bear she would make Pa take them all home and probably never come camping again.
“Jimmy! What did you see? Tell me!”
Jimmy looked up into his mother’s worried eyes, “Nu... nuthin Ma. Franky scared me is all.”
He looked back at Franky, who dropped his frown and smiled, playing along with the lie, “Ha ha, got you Jimmy!” he said.
“Oh you boys!” Ma let him go and sat back in her chair, putting her reading glasses back on, “You scared me half to death. Get on with you both.” She opened her book, “and stop scaring each other. Play nice.”
“Yes ma,” Franky said, a mischevious twinkle in his eye as he continued to stare at his older brother, who answered him with a confused scowl. What in hell had just happened?
