How is it 'not possible' though? I'm very curious about this!
Meantime, I like your efforts with the food. You buy some nice groceries (woot) .
Meantime, whereabouts (generally, not specifically) are you in the Blue Mountains?
They just dont want to be known. We cant have a working relationship with these people because they are too
advanced for us. We would learn too much from them.
Im not a trained chef, like I said Im a mechanic but that just goes to show how easy it is to
put on a food show for them. Its so easy to make nice treats for them. You dont have to know much.
I passed on the Walnuts this time cause I was short of cash, $10 a bag but next is going to be smoked salmon on walnuts.
Lets just say Bells Line of road, thats pretty vague. I would never share the exact location of my research sites.

Looks nice enough. Itll be interesting to see what happens with that orange juice.
Yeah, when I got there with the usual racket, wood knocks, yells and HiVis jacket, I opened the orange juice bottle
and took a big swig in full view of surroundings so "they could see" how to open it and that it was safe to drink.
When Im in this place I get the impression that they are very vigilant and fast to move in on and quietly monitor
anything thats new and interesting.
Being routine also gains their trust. Same day of the week same place same clothes.
Those tomatoes are delicious too, I have them as snacks in my fridge.
Yes those tomatoes look tasty. Nearly bought a pack yesterday when i was shopping. Went for the round ones instead.

Sounds like your heart is in the right place mate. Its all about intent they say! I believe your more of a chance to have a sighting if you arent trying to film them but still be wary of course and listen to these experienced types and their advice. They can get nasty and we dont really know a hell of a lot about them..the hairys that is! (thumb)

Thanks for that :) Bells Line is more than enough info .. was just getting a general idea of where you were (mid or upper mountains, etc).

Meantime, I appreciate your explanation for why you can't film them. It wouldn't satisfy me, because it's too 'convenient' ..... but hey, they're not my expensive groceries (cheers)

Its because Im not trying to get Hairys on video. Its been tried to death and its not possible. (Rusty222)
Im doing something different, Im trying a different tact. I just want to be friends with them and entertain them
with fun human food. And nobody does food like humans.
They want to maintain their anonymity so I let them. I respect their needs and dont try to cheat or fool them.
I get called noob but I know them better than most members here. I know exactly how intelligent they are.
You cant fool them so dont try.
Im trying to get other things on video to find out what is capable of scaling down that entry path.
Im using all fours climbing down there using rocks for foot holds.
The funny thing about the trailcam placement is you cant approach it from behind like Yowies usually do.
The tree is overhanging the 10m void, you would have to float in the air to touch it from behind.
Hi Ripperton, i think it's great your out there and having a crack, different ideas and ways of doing things is a good thing! Assuming that someone is a newbie regarding there research into the field simply because they are new to the yowiehunters site would be foolish. I trust the majority of people who frequent this site are broad minded enough to appreciate this.
Keep up the good work (claps hands)

Just keeping you grounded, and some reason why the camera probably should face a little toward the bait area, is that your salmon flesh offereings will attract every feral cat and dog within many miles. The feral dogs could pose a risk to you. Every fox for miles will smell the food. Every quoll for miles. every kookaburra, currawong and magpie. If there are pets at that nearby house they will love your snacks too, anyway, be safe and remember the other carnivores and omnivores that will feast there as well.

Theres probably not many supermodels that will go bush with you, but Jordan Barrett looks like someone who might enjoy a hike with you. (bushman) enjoy

Have to agree just because some food goes missing does not mean its Hairy man related.

I understand that putting out a camera may put off hairy man activity, however I would suggest setting up a camera anyway ....., if the camera fails to pick up what's taking the food then you have yourself some odd events worth further investigation, if you do happen to catch the culprit then its most likely going to be some kind of animal and you can rule out hairy man.

Dean, Lasso and Myself were once at a persons house who said that they had a Yowie come and eat their food placed out every night turned out is was possum after a after-midnight investigation.

Moral of the story......... there is usually a logical explanation to supposed yowie activity.

This.

I'd want to KNOW, rather than carry on buying gourmet foods for possums!

Nothing, thats what and the 6 packaged Kiwi fruits also untouched but...
4 of the other 12 Kiwi fruits went missing and all but 4 of the baby tomatoes were gone.
One of the remaining Kiwi fruits had peck marks in it and the trail cam came up with audio
of a large sounding bird like a Currawong and a colourful Parrot of some kind flew past.
My logic is birds dont like Kiwi fruit but they probably like baby tomatoes.
What ever took the 4 Kiwi fruits was selective because they didnt take all 12 of them.

Could have fallen down from the overhang.
So I left the Walnuts, Salmon and a few more Strawberries
and a small rockpile.
The Salmon has a plastic cover just to make things difficult.

Hey there , has anyone tried dog kibble , I know there have been reports of hairy fellas ( or girls ) getting into dog food etc in peoples houses ,
so tomorrow im going bush for the day to check cameras and contemplate my navel and thought I might leave a big pile of kibble instead
of my usual offerings , any thoughts , I know where I am going to leave it , on a stump that is about 1.5m high , to minimise the chance of dogs etc
getting it
Cheers Greg

I brought the uneaten Kiwi fruits home, cut them up and threw them in the backyard for the birds where there are no yowies for sure.
They are untouched so I can say definitely birds dont eat Kiwi fruits which brings me to the mystery...
How did only 4 whole Kiwi fruits go missing ? not just pecked at, nibbled at with bits of skin left over, missing. Why only 4 ?
The site itself is a bit impractical with its 10m cliff. I couldnt even see something as small as a Kiwi fruit at the bottom of that cliff.
A Kiwi fruit could have been nudged off but it would have to roll across 50cm of flat ground to the edge of the placement.

As it turns out the Kiwi fruits in the backyard did eventually get eaten... by birds.
But the Walnuts out at the site were largely left alone and some of the salmon was left and dried up.

So I removed all the left over walnuts and salmon and went back to baby tomatoes and corn cobs
but this time I trained the trail cam directly on the food.

Nothing thats what !!
No video clips !. the corn cobs were moved around but not eaten.
One corn cob was down on the same lower ledge as the one found in the first placement.
No tomatoes seem to have been eaten but 2 of them were also moved, one of those also down on the
lower ledge with the corn cob.
Heres before and after shots

The trail cam is a good 2.5m away from the food.
The next time I go there Im going to approach the placement from above
and wave a tree branch over the food to trigger the cam.
