Footprint

Unread post by Pooch » Fri Oct 26, 2018 7:06 pm

Hi just want to let you know two days ago my son and I went for a walk across the road from my house into the bush along a well worn track that bike riders and walkers all use .About half way into walk I spotted what I think is a teepee. So I stopped and inspected it for some time then walked home .The next day which was yesterday my son and grandaughter were walking along the same track and found this very obvious footprint at the exact spot I was standing looking at the teepee structure. There was only one print but you could see the clumps of earth that came off its foot as it stepped out of the print and the clumps lead into the bush.Im surprised they are so close to the road as you can clearly hear the traffic not to mention the print is a couple hundred metres from my house. The print is 16" long and sank 2cm into the ground so he or she was huge so I'm glad we didn't see it

Good find Pooch, looks real enough and big, although I’m wondering about the jagged edges.
I suppose the mud could dry out in sections like that or the Yowie stepped in that spot
when the mud was already half dry and starting to crack.
Having only one print is always less convincing then having a few.

When you said you could see where it walked off, was there any flattened grass or evidence of its direction.
Do you live semi rural; enough bush near by for one of these creatures to wander around in ?

Hi tuckeroo the jagged edges are caused as you say from half baked soil and as I said there were clumps of dirt that had come away with its foot leading into the bush but we looked in the bush where it headed and couldn't find any more tracks and no tracks from where it might have come from its as if it just landed in the middle of the track with just one print and the middle of the print is still wet from the recent rain but the top layer as you can see has dried out.

The print was found in the Bago state forest Wauchope NSW in thick bushland.

Interesting to say the least! Thanks for showing us and measuring the print - always a valuable thing to do.

My son rode his bike along the path the footprint was found and on his return back along same path came across a headless Goanna right in the middle of the path and a spine of some type of animal laying next to it.The bones and the Goanna were not on the path when he first went in but we're there on his return trip ten minutes later. No other person was on the track so he came home told me and we went back to the spot and the Goanna had been moved off the path.Looking around we found four kangaroo carcasses all within ten metres of the original footprint and just off the main track. My son is a total septic but the evidence is mounting and I think it's ironic that he is the one finding it all.The goannas head was not cut off it was torn off and we didn't find it so I looked up what eats goannas and apparently the only thing is other goannas and they eat the whole thing not just the head. The kangaroo bones were not there four days ago.The vibe in the area makes the hair stand up on the back of your neck it's getting scary.

Hi yowiebait yes I mean skeptic as in nonbeliever. There are tree breaks everywhere and it only took ten minutes for us to get back to the Goanna and it had been moved I wish my son took a pic when it was on the track still a headless Goanna is weird and there was nobody else on the track we would have seen and heard them for sure

The carcasses are certainly intriguing, despite the fact that to my eyes that is not a footprint, the dimensions are all wrong. Their foot is half as wide as it is long, and the ground looks in no way impacted, rather, it looks like a piece or two of cracked ground 'puzzle pieces' were lifted away, which could explain the bits you found 'trailing' off the path. Perhaps a foot stuck to the mud, pulling the piece/s away?

Of course, I am not there studying it and can only refer to pictures which are always misleading when it comes to reading tracks. (detective)

Can I ask, was this the only print ? As I’m seeing a roo print were both (2) feet and heal compress together as it tried to turn on an angle. Also, if this is the only print, have you viewed it upside down,? Also, im just saying that we need to cover our bases and not say everything is a yowie, for me , im not seeing it in this pic, but If you have more pics I’d like to see them, cheers mate

Hi sorry don't have any more pics.Im just putting it out there for feedback although I'm fairly sure it's a print but that's just my opinion. I don't know about all of this stuff all I can do is put it out there and glean others opinions.I have been in this area most days for the last month and I'm noticing the landscape more so know what's normally there and what's different and the bones weren't there four days ago and the Goanna that's strange.

Sure is an odd thing to come across. Youd think a predator would eat the goanna? Same goes for yowie if they eat goannas. I dont know?

Everyone interprets things differently. Some may take it as a gift or warning or prank. Maybe a bird or animal moved it but couldnt carry it off is the only normal thing i can think of. Maybe even dragging it when your son arrived, dropped it and came back for it when he left to get you only to drop it again when you came back?

Still that wouldn't explain the head being ripped off or bones.

Some more pictures of the corpse and any wounds may help someone identify something. A pic of the overall area and track would be good.

Could be the hairys if you think theyre there. Its the type of high strangness some attribute to bigfoot/yowie. (thumb up)

The length is interesting, if you cut it off around the six inch mark you could almost say that this 2 indents are a pigs due claws, but that would mean a 200kg plus pig and although that’s not unheard of , very rare . On a second look it does appear to be an overlapping print were the back foot print touches the front, but we should also remember that deformed and injured animals will leave some crazy tracks, I once stalked an animal that completely berwildered me, turned out to be a Grey kangaroo with 2 broken legs , the shins were what it was walking on and it’s feet were being dragged behind, mostly misjudged a fence. So with that , again, everything strange is not always a yowie

A decapitated goanna could have happened by a car. Roadkill.
I agree that it might be a Yowie meal, but,
Your son found it on a track, and 10 mins later it was moved off the track?
Was there a clumsy Yowie who dropped his meal on the track,
then 10 mins later, drops his meal again, just off the track.
Why would it keep leaving the meal?
It seems that it might be staged for you. Is a Yowie offering you food? Then moving it?
Other bones could be from feral animals having a quiet place to consume their roadkill prizes.

A car would not decapitate a goanna like that.
Especially on a dirt track. Be doin what, 20kph.
A train on the other hand.......
The footprint definitely seems to me that it’s just chunks removed that happens to look like a print. Many times as a child I have pulled chunks cracked like that before.
The headless goanna is just strange though. Was it’s noggin torn off or neat cut?

I wasn't assuming that the goanna was decapitated on that track, sorry.
It seems there are a lot of animal pieces In the area, so please consider any main roads,
Or railways within a kilometre.
The moving of the carcass from when your son saw it and then you saw it, was ten mins.
This seems odd. Like you are being played for your well known beliefs about yowies,
Or to scare you.
It just seems human planned to me.
Just my opinion, and feeling protective of others.😀

Have to agree its not a foot print, just chunks or of cracked dirt pulled out of the ground.

The goanna thing is odd however.
