I was chased by a yowie (interview)

Unread post by believepodcast » Sat Feb 01, 2020 9:56 pm

Donna comes on the show to share her story of being chased by a yowie while out on a morning bike ride. This encounter might just be the closest yowie encounter we have ever heard of with it being right over the top of her!

Yes, I listened to this episode last week and it is a fascinating account, interesting that it's out of Western Australia where we don't hear of that many encounters.
The witness gives a detailed description of the yowie she encountered, great account.
Keep up the good work Kade.
The more I learn, the less I know.

Just got round to listening to this, Geese what a frighting encounter! (eek)

Donna's description of the creature and its mannerisms were very detailed and just added to a great story.

Well worth the listen.

Thanks for sharing.

Yeah I found this about 2 weeks ago. What I thought was interesting was that it seemed to be living right next to the road and was roaring at her for multiple consecutive days, before eventually coming at her in a rage...
Again, it sounds like it just wanted to scare her rather than hurt her as it never touched her but shadowed her along the road for a while... having it breathing down her neck like that sounded truly terrifying!

Yeah, I also found her description of the look on its face, that being of disgust, like "you are one of those kind" to be rather interesting and a little amusing.

It does sound like this particular creature (and I am sure most Yowies are in a way) was a little say...... somewhat primal, speaking gibberish, sniffing the air, run on a child like instinct, but as athletic as they come.

The description of the Pink chest was interesting as well I thought I have never heard that being described before.

I've only just listned to it as well .
What I found interesting was ...…

Birds going bananas
Dogs going bananas
Stomping
Belly button , never heard of that before . That would indicate an umbilical cord .
Disgusted facial expression , I've heard this twice now
Running flatfooted , midtarsal break ?
Witness had problems breathing while being growled at . Quivery in the stomach . Heart skips a beat , Infrasound ?
Previous warnings
Visible breathe
Right handed ?
Clumsy
Calf muscle extending to it's ankle . This could explain the odd footprint I found .
Split fingernails filled with dirt
Snapping tree's , hissy fit ?
Public awareness of yowies in that area . I know another place where the entire community is aware .
BTW , it was an interview well done by Kay ? Kayd ?

Yeah I dont know where to start. To me she is totally authentic with some of the things she mentioned let alone the way she described it so well. I bet she left a lot out also while trying to tell it and if someone spent a lot of time with this witness they could get some serious information from her.

What I found most interesting is the "nails like chips" description of the claws (or long nails) and the fact the witness said it kind of yelled in a language ("gibberish") other than just animalistic noises.

Also amazing that she could keep riding while it roared at her from so close. We couldn't even move while we were getting roared at and you could feel it pysically go through you and that was 20-30 meters away. I think its a given that they use infra sound. What else could it be.

I think too that if it wanted to grab or strike her it could have easily got her. I seriously doubt anyone "gets away" from a Yowie.

Sounds like what they call "pacing" .

Very similar to my encounter. "Creature attacks kids" on CRYPTO PTSD on youtube if anyone is interested.

Anyway thats one brave lady. (thumb up) (taz)

Theres been a few witnesses now that claim the Yowie has a type of talking language.

I found the way it came up behind her,the verbal abuse, its facial expression and the way it took off and smashed through the bush very similar.

Its in a few encounters where they do this. Like a little half U shape they run in. Out of the bush up behind then run beside straight for awhile then take off into the bush. Like a pattern or maneuver.

Yeah I definitely don't think they are in this to catch people and carry them away to their lairs. It's a territorial thing or a 'leave me alone' thing, but given that she didn't even clap eyes on it until it was chasing her shows that it was more a 'get outta here' thing. I wonder if it was chasing cars as well?

The gibberish language comes up so often! I wonder if they have many dialects and regional afflections... I would wager so given how disconnected the overall populations must be. Look at the PNG highlands - hundreds of unique languages in close proximity to each other...

Hey Yowie bait

Just finished listening to your encounter, Wow another frighting experience, I dont think I have ever heard your story before in great detail.

I hope you dont mind me sharing the link here so others may listen as its kinda on topic to the original post.

Your description of it running on all fours was really strange, but you do hear of them running that way occasionally. I now have this vision of a gorilla at the Zoo running on all fours chasing the other gorillas away, was it like that? and are you still in touch with you friend from back then?

Most of the time this may be correct, just a bluff charge to get people to go away or escort them out of an area. But just like humans we all have differing personalities so there may be some who have not lived to tell the tale, but I would say that would be rare.

In regards to it chasing cars I very much doubt it. I can only think of the recent Woy Woy report of a creature running beside a car whether it was chasing the car is another matter altogether.

Well it's so much better to hear you describe it live rather than read it on a page Yowie Bait .
A horrifying experience by the sounds of it , you can hear it in your voice .
Interesting how you say "reluctant" and how you were outclassed when it comes to running .
Passive/aggressive , that's fascinating too .
Dustin is very good at what he does , very thorough , thanks for sharing your encounter . :D

Hi Dion. Yep sure was scary. Fascinating in retrospact though like in sure most encounters are!

Mainly i remember it running very close to the ground and looking up towards us. We never really compared it to a gorilla but it could have been moving like that at one point when on all fours. It never really acted like a gorilla either. It was very unusual and not what i expected a yowie to be like.

I dont know how anything could run like that and doubt i could imitate it without hurting myself. Very very strange indeed...

Yes my fellow witness was my best mate so we were always close. During the encounter he was kind of directing. Yelling out "creek" and stuff cause i was kind of stunned at times. He got a really good look at it and afterwards was right into the experience.

After that he was watching Boggy Creek and digging up info on the hairys.Unfortunately he never made it to 30 and passed away unexpectedly. Very sad.

We had been going to that island with our families since we were literally babies for 12 years to that point plus many other camping and fishing trips and been left to explore the sand dunes and forests with no supervision for years as we did back then so we werent just city kids on our first trip.

Still a few things of interest i couldve mentioned but hard talking about yowies in the morning before work!

Hi Rusty. Yes i said "reluctant predator" but really i just meant it seemed reluctant but was chasing us anyway. I don't really know what it was thinking but got the message loud and clear. They seem rather emotional

Well it acted like it was gonna kill us but did nothing to harm us so i guess passive aggressive makes sense. I thought we were dead as soon as i saw it was coming after us!

Totally outclassed in every sense for sure.

Dustin is great. Just lets you tell the story without suggesting stuff while your talking. Yep he was very thorough. Went right into it with me.

Glad you and Dion had a listen. (thumb)

Hi YB, Being familiar with your Fraser Island encounter on AYR it was great to hear you interviewed about it, well done.
Your interview and the one with Donna have exceptional detail.

Fraser island is big but not that big for a Yowie so I was wondering whether anyone else before or after your encounter
had any strange experiences there. The mainland; the Gympie region being a hot spot for sightings, old hairy back
may swim across intermittently/seasonally also.
If their stink is anything to go by they’d be a tasty treat for a roaming noah.

Hi Rusty, I like your detailed list. You said it was your the first time hearing a ‘belly button’ mentioned in a report.
That is rare, mostly never but it says a lot.
I was surprised to come across that description once before in the AYR audio report #129 Witheren/Canungra.

The truck drivers actual words were ‘it had a navel’ and later ‘I could see its belly button’.
Although he uses it to measure the height of the Yowie via the truck bonnet he is describing exactly what he’s looking at.
As you said it would indicate an ‘umbilical chord’ that of a placental mammal.

Hi Tuckeroo. I didnt go into some stuff like what colour it even was and rushed through it a bit. I cant really give a very accurate height either. Its also hard to convey the noise and complete pandemonium that was taking place. Also how different it looked at times which is hard to explain.

This lady on the bike got a real good look at the hands , fingers, foot and calf etc and she was trying not to look at it. She pretty much has the whole body and face memorised. Sure would love to see a sketch by Buck.

Also the details of it breaking the brush with its hands was interesting to me among other things.

I thought the same thing about the size of the Island being able to support groups of Yowies. I havent seen the whole Island but from what I have seen I think it's feasible that there could be some groups living there undetected.

I dont remember ever seeing this but on some maps of Fraser there is a small group of Islands or large rocks spread out towards the main Island. A former Nth Qld resident i spoke to who was familiar with the area called them "Little Fraser" or similar.

Maybe its feasible that adults could make that trip using the smaller islands as rest stops but then as you say there are the sharks. Lots of sharks out there!

The only reports ive heard of on Fraser were in the Island thread from a few years ago. One forum member said that he knew of two accounts.

One was of workmen having tools stolen by hairy arms reaching out of the bush and the other was when a group of Native Americans and Indigenous Australians got together for some meeting . They were in the rainforest and noticed all the groups of red eyes watching them. Probably wondering why they weren't invited!

He also mentioned something about Roos being seen wading across there. Maybe at low tide?

The only other account was from listening to my dad and his fishermen mates laughing about little hairy blokes running out of the bush and stealing their's or some other fishermens catch while they were helpless below fishing off the rocks.

The only weird yowie type thing that ever happened to me was an earlier trip at lake McKenzie when i was walking the outskirts of the lake and quite occupied and happy when all of a sudden i felt really scared. I felt like something was watching me and got the feeling something really bad was going to happen. I knew it was completely illogical but still got away from there quick as i could!

HI Yowie Bait ,your encounter on Fraser Island sounds terrifying, the stuff of nightmares.
Fraser Island would be the perfect habitat for a small tribe of wild men, while it gets upwards of 300,000 visitors annually the interior of the island is uninhabited with unlimited fresh water and a diverse range of flora and fauna to easily support a small tribe.(check out Fraser island on google earth)
i recall spending half a day driving around some inland tracks on the island which where little more than overgrown tunnels through the thick scrub occasionally opening up to low lying swap land or hilly vistas of sand drifts and thick scrub as far as the eye could see, i purposely stopped in one spot and walked 30 so feet into the bush thinking to myself that i was probaly the only human in history to have ever stood in that particular spot!
I believe they could easily live there undetected apart from the rare encounter such as yours.
It would be interesting to talk to some locals from the island (if they would talk about it) and see if they had any stories to share.
The more I learn, the less I know.

Hi Yowie bait,

Really enjoyed your interview. Reckon it was about time the rest of us could share your encounter in fine detail. Many thanks!

It surprised me that it took place on Fraser Island. I have been there a couple of times and have had a swim in the crystal clear waters of Lake McKenzie. Rainwater is filtered through the sand over vast amounts of time making it incredibly pure. Great drinking water for Yowies!

I remember it being described as the ‘world’s largest sand island’. It is about 120k’s long and around 15k’s wide. That’s big enough for groups of Yowies to call home. The danger on the island was said to be from Dingos… there have been well documented attacks on people… and the many species of man eating sharks that patrol the coastline. I believe salt water crocs can sometimes be seen off the island’s beaches.

Looking this up, I found that the land bridge from the mainland to Fraser Island disappeared around 20,000 years and human habitation dates back to around 5000 years. I would have thought that with the indigenous occupation of Australia going back at least 60,000 years before that, it would have been much earlier.

Anyway Yowie bait, great re-telling of an amazing and very frightening experience! And I also really liked Donna's scary story.

Hi Yowie Bait,
What a terrifying encounter! Again though, not hurting anyone even though it came close enough to you to grab you and snap your neck, but just making noise. Shame you didn't get to go back for a closer look!!!
Wow, and on Fraser too!!! I wonder how many people have seen them?
Thanks for sharing that.
I'm also in Brisbane.. Just getting into this whole thing... Very interesting that it seems like there are bigger/smaller ones together...

Hi Bluedog. Tunnels is a good description of some of those roads and I bet you are still the only human thats stood there!

My family went there since the 60s so my dad knew how to get to a lot of the main cool places to see but a few times we went to new places and it was like we would never find it but a lagoon or clearing would appear virtually out of knowhere. It was so dense anything could be there 50 metres in and you wouldnt see it.

Like you said there would be ample room and resources there. It really is a primitive island paradise and perfect for the Yowie. Dont know how they go about blood lines or finding mates or if they travel to the main land. Id say there would be some sort of cave system there as well.

Yeah I would love to know what the locals have seen. Like Donna described in her encounter above, the locals knew about it but kept it to themselves to protect the hairy ones or avoid attention. Could be the case on Fraser?
