ORBS

Unread post by breezie » Thu Jun 09, 2011 3:33 pm

Apart from Yeti's, Yowies & UFO's, has anyone come across Orbs!! They seem to be everywhere and only seem to show up when downloading pix to computer.

Not sure what you mean about only showing up when downloading..
They are normally in the viewer of the digital camera..
If they were only appearing during a download..then that implies they were not in the original photo and might be an artifact of the downloading process some how.
"orbs" started appearing when we started to switch from film to digital.
CCD in digital cameras are excellent at capturing small points of light..flash/light hits spore/rain drops/dust and ccd "magnifies" ='orbs".
Thats why astronomers love ccd`s..
Yes..I know not all "'orbs" are prosaic but the majority appear to be.
And..the other problem is..its supposedly paranormal..yet they look exactly like dust/water/spore..
And..if they are paranormal..they are pretty damn common..and means what..that some spirits? /whatever come back looking like a dust particle..? (jest)
I hope that is not the case..
So..if you are shooting inside a house using film ..in a sealed room of some sort and getting "orbs"..s.then you might be on to something.

Thanks for your reply and so to clarify.... unless the Orbs photographed are close in proximity to the flash they are not always visible in the viewer. 100% of my images were taken outside mostly at night.

Also some images are small and the only way to see them clearly is by crop and enlarge.

As for them being dust particles, definitely NO as if they were just dust particles, I have 8GB of the most beautiful, colorful, unusually shaped dust particles in the world.

Peace

unless the Orbs photographed are close in proximity to the flash they are not always visible in the viewer
Because..they..are so..small...
100% of my images were taken outside mostly at night.

Thats my point..this is the worst place as well as time to try and prove or get them..especially using a digital camera due to the ccd "amplifying" everything.
The flash will pick up everything small..be it dust/water vapour/spore/tiny bits of rubbish etc.
Also some images are small and the only way to see them clearly is by crop and enlarge.
Now..are they small because they are tiny things near the camera..or are they tiny things further away from the camera.

As for them being dust particles, definitely NO as if they were just dust particles, I have 8GB of the most beautiful, colorful, unusually shaped dust particles in the world.
I never suggested they were all dust particles..I suggested the majority of normal contamination in the air can account for many/most photos of orbs.
If you want to honestly prove they are of paranormal origin, get them on film..get them in a sealed room..get them on a steroscopic camera to prove distance etc..
If people consider themselves honest researchers and they think orbs are real of paranormal origin... them..they should test that hypothesis.
If they are just merely taking photos/making claims ....and nothing else..thats the problem.
And thats why most people I know just yawn when they hear about it.
And..for the record..i dont think ALL orbs are prosaic..but the majority appear to be..
The major problem is..how come they look like prosaic items in the air.?
How come they are caught so "easily" at night using flash and ccd still cameras..eveything else "paranormal" is really hard to "capture" yet "orbs" are not.
And...how do you rule out some form of geophysical/atmospheric causation.?
And..if they are paranormal..so what..where does it lead..are they spirits..I have seen some people blowing up the middle of them and going"wow..you can see a face" which is bordering on insane. (jest)
Can you post some of your orbs please for us to look at.

Of course, I agree with most of what you are saying, but.....

I am new to "forums" so give me some time and I will try and work out how to attach some images.

In fact, it pleases me no end to share them with others.

Peace

OK! Just noticed the attached sign at the bottom of the page, so here goes.

Thanks..can you shows us some of the colourful ones please.
Number 2 is bog standard dust like particle..but..1 and 3 are interesting.
Do you have more like 1 and 3
If they are close to the lens...then that kills it..they could very well be something prosaic up close but appearing to be at middle distance.
But..if they are at middle distance..then that could quite possibly rule out standard explanations.
Have you tried to video with a light rather than a digital still..
thanks

Mike

Thanks for your reply and comments.

No kids, except the occasional four legged variety and as far as I know she doesn't know how to use my camera! (oops)

(Is there any way to "reply" and "view" at the same time, as I can't remember all that was asked)??

Anyway, I will attach some more pix for viewing.

Hey mate - did you try just attaching it as a normal file? Won't show up 'open' in your post like a pic, but should be there for us to click on and watch in our own media player...

Lil foot, either that's one hell of a close-up of a bright white orb or you've accidentally uploaded your Antarctica snow storm photo.

hi Jo
Ive had heaps of problems loading the video, but bear with it, if you click on the play button it will download in aprox 2 minutes, even tho it doesnt seem to be doing anything.
You can monitor how much it has downloaded by pressing pause then play again, it will give you a percentage.
hope that helps...cheers

That's what I'd always thought too mate, but apparently there are a few, eg:

Never seen one myself, but have seen a few glow worms.

lilfoot, fireflys do get around the hillsides in the Blue Mountains of an evening during winter. I see no reason why they wouldn't do the same in the Victorian hillsides.

The main reason I suspect it is a firefly is the speed and movement is the same with what I have seen first-hand. If your footage had colour and it was a firefly, it would show to glow a yellowish green. They really are amazing to behold and eerie at first until they get closer and you can see what they are.

If you were to catch a few in a glass jar, the light would be like an old fasioned oil lantern your great grandma in her nightgown used to carry on her way to the outhouse thunderbox of a night time. Fireflies are quite common and are no more a spirit entity than the mosquito which was buzzing around your head last night while you were trying to satisfy your partner.

I'm a bit concerned about why you were following his grandma to the loo in the dark...

Again, bit too much inside information - lilfoot, might be time to get some really good curtains...

I myself don't think orbs are spiritual or anything supernatural.
I have looked up Australian fireflies and there are none south of Sydney.
They range from Sydney north into the tropics.

Too much inside information would be telling what you did with the jar of peanut butter, forestguy, or how you lost your virginity alone in your bedroom.

lilfoot, are you certain there are no glow in the dark flying insects in the Victorian bush of a night-time? Have you identified what movement activated the trail cam and is the motion detection so sensitive as to be activated by an insect or a speck of dust floating passed? Is it instead possible a tiny insect flying close in front of the lens or a rising speck of dust was brightly illuminated by your trail cam's IR and at such a close range the subject appears as a sphere of light in motion? Like on digital cameras, the Infra red illuminator is situated fairly close to the camera lens.
