Did you see that and took the photo because of it, or did you take the photo and see it in the picture later? If you saw it when you took the picture did you stick around to see if it moved?

Awesome pic.

Looks to me like a dog with a funny shaped head on it's hind legs. There's a hint of a short front leg extended forward to hold it up. It appears to be looking to the right of the camera, not straight at the camera.

To rule out it being an interestingly shaped stump you'd have to go back and take another pic.

I can see two possibilities one is the head of a grey kangaroo (male) although it would be very unusual to see a kangaroo hiding in such thick vegetation the other IMO can only be a Dogman. Sightings have been recorded in the US in exactly this type of situation hiding amongst thick undergrowth. I would rule out pareidolia in this situation.

Another reason it may possibly be a kangaroo - short front leg but I still prefer the Dogman explanation.

Thecreeper just like to clarify was this the same area where you had your charging incident some twelve months ago?

I have to say these are the best pics I've seen on this forum of a possible cryptid sighting. I've enhanced the images and going by others I've viewed they strongly suggest IMO a Dogman especially when you say it followed you bipedally through the bush. Definitely not a Yowie.

That is definitely a very strange place for a head to be located, even a normal shaped one . . .

Great shots! Gave me the creeps looking at them.

You would definitely need to return to the scene and check for pareidolia (e.g., if it is a burnt tree stump, etc). If it isn't would be great to see a photo of the same place from about the same location you took the attached pic. Would certainly quiet any skeptics. We have had some real looking pics (including images that look like heads/faces) that turned out to be tree stumps, etc.

A couple of other things to note or consider: is the bank from the creek/river you were paddling in rising up on a slope or is it relatively flat ground? If it is sloped up (and especially if it is steep) the figure, if it is, may not be as tall as the photo attached would suggest. Also, can you see any rocky outcrops in the area, for example, could it be standing on rocks/boulders?

I noticed the vegetation is considerably covered in vines. The thickness of bush could be deceiving (especially when viewing from pics). Been in situations where vines cover vegetation, from outside you can't see in but behind it could be more open than you think (e.g., under the vines limited vegetation can survive). Could be a maze of animal tracks that you cannot see from the water - however there would still be considerable vegetation, dead sticks/logs, leaves, etc. Hence hearing something walking.

Thinking out of the box, check/search and see if any circus had been through that area (especially any lost animals).

Here's hoping it is not just a burnt tree stump, etc. Would like to hear any audio of the roars if you have them.

To me it looks like it has a long neck and like leaning out into that open area where its head is that could be y its neck looks weird

If u look down below the head there is bit of the bush below that look really black also and thats not even close to the ground either so im guessing the black spot is part of its body 2

Hey mate yer ill try head out to the area i got the pics over the weekend if not early next week

Yer where it was is up a bit from the river but then flat under all the trees and vines so i still recon its over 7ft i can'tsee any 4 legged animal being able to stand up on its hind legs in that area to look out at me

Yer there would of been a but of vegetation under it all but i could hear something walking on 2 feet

Ill have to have a look and do some research but i do know there is like 4 things on the interactive map on this site

Its hard to hear if u dont no what u are listening 2 so im thinking if i record it off my pc and loop it so u can only hear the roars and not the birds and stuff

No Problems, I have no doubt re the things you have seen and heard. However, there are many skeptics. Definitely be good to see a pic re same area. I just ask the questions because it is hard to make out from the photos.

If there is no image in any additional pics - well what can I say, don't go to the bank. (eek)

My thought re lost circus/zoo/animals park animals, was the head looks alot like a bear (large males can stand on hind legs and are tall). It also looks a lot like a dog e.g. black german shepherd. Plus if there are any circus or zoos, etc there may not be any public related reports of lost animals - bad publicity.

I can handle the thought of yowies in the bush but dogmen  - I shouldn't have watched all those werewolf movies as a kid. Can you tell I'm hoping for a bear. ha ha

Have you seen the video (utube) from the US (I think) re the last wolf looking creature that chased a dog (I think they were calling it a Dire wolf). The head shape look a lot like it.

I think I'd have a harder time believing it was a bear or an escaped circus animal than a Dogman. When Thecreeper said he could hear it following him on two legs in the bush that virtually eliminates any circus animal. These creatures I believe are increasing in numbers worldwide and Australia is no exception. I can't confirm any indigenous tribal elder reports from their Dreamtime Stories regarding Dogmen but that, in my opinion, is because this is a much more recent phenomenon than the Bunyip or Yowie.

Looking at an enhanced image I would also rule out a tree stump.

There have been more than a couple of reported Dogman encounters in Australia all terrifying as you would imagine and will probably increase in the future. (scared)

No known animal in Australia can roar like that which strongly suggests something paranormal.

Hi Senses, yes I agree.

However, this string is starting to look like it should be on the other -AYR - Yowie Controversial, Conjecture and Fringe Subject Matter Discussion -site. Especially with reference to Dogman. What was that phrase - I will send the beasts among you (eek) ... or something like that.

Creeper it is a great pic - still would like to make sure it it not pareidolia. Great when you get a chance to revisit the site and take some pics.

Stay safe.

Hi rowbe here's the phrase I will also send wild beasts among you, which shall rob you of your children, destroy your livestock, and make you few in number; and your highways shall be desolate........ scary stuff. You are right I think this thread and ''There are Yowies on my farm'' both should be on the Controversial and Conjecture site there is nothing of scientific interest in either of them plenty of the paranormal though.

I may be jumping to conclusions here but the narrative is definitely in my line of thinking. By the way, these wild beasts are indeed Bigfoot, Yowies and Dogman amongst others they are actually called Satyrs - hairy monsters and their abode is the desert, thick woodlands and deep forests virtually anywhere uninhabitable for man. So anyone wandering about in these areas especially if you are on your own be extremely cautious.

very much like Thecreeper's although in my opinion not as clear.

Going to head out tomorrow and check it out pending the weather not going early morning as everything that has happened out that area has been between 530 and almost 7am ( could that have something to do with the gates to the river in that area all open at 7am)
Ill take some pics and get back to u guys

Its funny my gf says it looks like a bear i recon it looks like a head of a wolf i dunno never seen anything that looks like it then my aunty recons it looks like a monkey
( none of the 3 are in Australia )

Wat i dont get is animals i see down the river take off when they see me because i sneak up on alot of stuff as the kayak is so quiet kangaroos, wombats, foxes horses cows wild pigs everything all see me have a look at me like wtf are u?? Then all take off like im going to eat them none of them ever follow me and stop when i do then keep going when i do wat ever this thing was walked on 2 feet threw thick bush and iv caught it on my phone which all i seen was something black so i took some pics and kept paddling i never even looked at the pics till i got home because watever it was once iv taken those pics never followed me past that point wether that is because it thought i had seen it or because the bush really thins out after that spot i dont no
coming back up the river i couldn't spot the area as i was coming from the opposite direction and i couldn't see the black i seen as i took the pics but didnt think anything of it till i looked at the pics later on

Yer i feel the same iv had a few things go on over the years that i recon was a yowie but the thought of dog man... i cant handle lol
