That would be my guess .
Panthers let loose from U.S. troops at the end of WW2 .
Escaped panthers from travelling zoos and private zoos . Crashes during transportation , accidental deaths (escapes) of Panthers no one wanted to report .

I talked with an Aboriginal elder down here about it and there was never any mention of big black cats that he knew of in Aboriginal history .
And who was the wanker who put "alien" in the Big Cats title ? Click Bait .

Ship manifesto's also logged all the various animals brought back by Australian soldiers after both of the great wars, nearly as many different species as there were men on the ships. Speaking of escaped animals, a relative worked at Bullens african lion safari at waragamba and mentioned a break out of various animals, they got them all back except for the hyenas, also a bear skull was found in a state forest in NSW last year.

No doubt in my mind there are various creatures roaming the Australian landscape, have you got a link to the bear skull story or do you know of which state forest it was found?

Dad use to tell me about heaps of animals escaping out that lion safari as if they would log everything that escaped and was never found i remember a story he told me of going to a party over there when he was 18 and getting up in the morning and going to walk out to the car to go home only to see 2 lions out the front by the car haha
