Awesome Yowie Bait!! I started watching in late 97- early 98. Loved WWF and WCW. Knew ECW existed but didn’t get around to watching any ECW until 2005-ish (which made
Me and my friends start recording backyard matches, even put them on a video tape)

Still watching WWE ...not every week but keep up to date and check wrestlinginc.com daily...... I enjoy NXT, NJPW, ROH on a casual basis....

Went to a World Series Wrestling show in Adelaide last year and enjoyed it.

Yeah the late 90s was a fine time to be a wrestling fan with the " monday night war" thing happening. Thankfully we got to see both in oz as nitro and raw were different nights!

ECW was amazing. Really changed the whole industry. I even liked the tnn tv show before they folded but that was the end for them unfortunately!

Yeah that backyard wrestling is a worry. I still have issues with an injury sustained from demonstrating a Macho Man elbow drop from the top rope(bbq table). It was perfect except the landing!

Its hard to keep up with it all. Theres about 4 hours of just raw and smackdown if you fast forward ads plus theres the amazing back catalogue on wwe network, nxt plus the stuff on youtube and the streaming services which are a great option.

I think its amazing with so much choice these days. Long way from waiting for the latest Ppv to he released on video or trading fuzzy tapes!!

World series wrestling looks like a great show. I see they're coming back in march.
It will be interesting to see what happens with this All Elite Wrestling and who Kenny Omega signs with?

Nothing will beat that 90s wrestling boom!!

I remember every Tuesday night just waiting for Raw to start on Fox Sports and Nito was on TMC Friday nights I think... (In S.A our pay tv was called Austar)

I once heard that ECW was on SBS (free tv channel) at some point but have researched for confirmation but couldn’t find nothing.

Our backyard stuff wasn’t the crazy style s#@t that the yanks did... it was just fun. HAHA MACHO MAN ELBOW!!! Yes!!!! Did do 3 Swanton bombs in one day once off the carport onto mattress’.... my feet missed the 1st time and smashed my heels onto my concrete slab basketball court! DRILLED! Haha

Have the WWE Network.... amazing! Only thing pisses me off is some of the music is changed mate to licensing.

I hope ALl ELITE WRESTLING goes well... They aren’t trying to be WWE nor wanna challenge them... they just want to be a different option for fans.... ... I think if they can secure more big names....get a good TV deal ... it will be a very viable company.
I’m gunna guess they have a presence at the next run of World Series Wrestling shows.

Kenny Omega is great! I think he goes to AEW.... but wouldn’t be dissapointed if he needed up in “THE FED” haha 😂

Yeah I that late 90s boom was amazing. So much big name talent going back and forth!

Dont remember ECW being on SBS. Used to send off for tapes.

I would have to quit my job and have no other intetests to watch all the classic content on the network i would like to see and its worth it just for the ppvs.

Njpw and roh stream service looks great. Maybe thats what AEW will have to do i suppose if they cant get a tv deal.
I hope they do real well. Omega may go to WWE and jump to AEW with his mates later on?

More likely he will go to AEW though. Creative control and less money might be preffered than getting lost in the WWE shuffle for him?

Great to see y2j reinventing himself yet again!

Excellent video. I've heard stories about guys like Skull Murphy, Spiros "The Golden Greek" Arion and Mario Milano but I've only seen bits and pieces of their actual matches.

Theres a few great video/ dvd sets with the Aussie stuff. Looks like that linked match is from one of those releases. My older siblings used to talk of Brute Bernard and Skull Murphy. " They were real bad bastards" my dad used to say. Theres a few videos on youtube of them.

The " war" between Big bad Johns heels and the " peoples army" went for nearly a decade i think and according to one book I've read was one of the hottest and most profitable " angles" in pro wrestling at the time.

I was pleased to find this Fabulous Kangaroos footage. A mate and i had this on video and watched it over and over. Just goes to show you dont need to half kill your opponent to get " heat" from the "marks"! Sailor Thomas looks like hes about to crack up!

More Big Bad John..gotta love that jacket! https://youtu.be/cqBiVzPCEFo

It was pretty good. Looks like the "new" Daniel Bryan is putting together a faction of liked minded individuals like Cm Punks straight edge group. Screw job ending sucked still! At least he didnt kick Aj in the balls again...

I think the Nxt takeover was better. It usually is!

Gday YowieBait, healthy debate time lol 👍

I don’t wanna sound like a whinging fan, but I didn’t enjoy it. Takeover was far better, agreed.... and I’m not a massive NXT fan.

After shitting on Cena for years, I was so bummed to find out he wasn’t gonna be in the rumble. He is the last true SUPERSTAR that has come out of the company since Austin n Rock. It’s only now I realise how much I appreciate him.

Shane o Macs shooting star press was unbelievable for a 49 year old.

Jeff Jarretts return I fkn loved! Wicked pop, wicked strut haha even tho I love 99 styled Jarrett and his music better..... this was still awesome. He followed it up on Raw today with an even bigger pop when his music hit .... then another pop when he called Elias Slapnuts 😂😂

The matches were boring, I didn’t mind Askua v Becky.... and it was pretty predictable she was gunna win the woman’s rumble. But they had to go with her cause she running hot

Glad Brock beat Balor. I don’t care that he is part time etc He is a attraction....

Am interested to see where Bryan goes with Rowan.... At one point i thought he was gunna go deranged and back to Daniel Wyatt hahah

The mens rumble just felt flat to me.... they were hooking through the entrants and just had too many unknowns. I know they gotta bring in new talent but maybe not all of them in the rumble. Rollins didn’t need to win it.... I liked how the rumble used to be a platform to elevate a mid card guy to the upper ranks.... but they have gone away from that format.

Also why waste guys with quick eliminations....like no way Jose.... you could tell that it was gunna happen... it was so predictable!

The pops Double J and Road Dogg got on Raw today just shows you that the stars of yesteryear are more over than the current crop.

Yeah i agree with a lot of that. Couldve been much better. Silly booking like why have Becky lose then win the rumble? Better to have her in the rumble match only and save the match with Asuka but still glad to see her go to face Rousey.

I too was waiting for whyatt to appear with Rowan.

Good to see jj return. Solidified Elias heel turn. Much better as a heel!

Shane was impressive like you say. Dunno where thats all going?

Cena off doing another movie i guess?

Fine with me brock retains. Champion shouldnt be on tv every week anyway. Balior was really good though.

Yeah rumble to predictable. Would have lijed to see nakamura or someone else win it. Orton v lesner woukdve been good too.

Hey Trip56 im still not sure what some main matches are with all the erratic booking. Would like to see Bryant in a good match up. Maybe vs kofi?

Looking fwd to raw womans match and hoping Lynch gets in there. Not fussed on Seth vs Brock that much but will probably be great match. Hoping joe will be on main card too. Maybe vs orton or styles or both in a 3 way? Guess we will have more of an idea after fastlane.

Big week last week with War Games and Survivors. The AEW VS NXT "war"has given WWE some competition which is great.

Ive been watching Dynamite through the fite tv deal and been enjoying MLW on youtube as well.

Hey guys ! Yes what a time to be a fan ey! So many options to
choose from. Sadly I still find Raw and Smackdown unbearable to watch, with NXT being my fav WWE brand atm. Wargames was a pretty solid show. That ending was sick. Notice how a lot of main roster stars are going back/crossing over to NXT...... old
Vinny Mac knows what he doing.

Also haven’t missed a episode of Dynamite, I enjoy the show and can sit through it. What’s your thoughts on their 3 man commentary team? Hearing Tony and Jr together his awesome imo!

Kenny Omega v Moxley match from Full Gear ppv was insane! That missed pheniox splash onto the wood was hard to watch.

I don’t think WWE have had a violent hardcore match like that since like 2006ish..... foley/edge at mania 22 comes to mind.... or the foley/edge v dreamer/funk tag from one night stand 06...... flair/foley 2006 fued.

CM PUNK is kinda back.... I guess..... really thought he would never return but believe he will.

Hey Trip5six i have finally caught up with it all and have to agree with you about NXT. Its definetely the best WWE show right now which is not hard really with the state of RAW and SMACKDOWN.

As for AEW VS NXT, well I hope they both succeed and can get more tv viewers to keep them going.

Its a shame they are going head to head and having to split the viewership and im sure theres a lot of viewers not being counted due to streaming and the WWE network which by the way is so dodgy right now i often. end up streaming anyway just to save the aggravation.

With the AEW VS NXT, I find it hard to compare the two as i find them both very different. I like most of what theyre doing on NXT and find myself agreeing with a lot of what AEW detractors are saying but still they are in early days and what they do well like the Cody and Jericho stuff is excellent. I reckon they would slay RAW or SMACKDOWN in the ratings!

AEW women are a mess with the booking which is a dissapointment. Still its early days so im sure it will get more consistent with some long term storylines and building up of talent like Darby Allin and Hangman Page.

The Bucks and Kenny Omega have certainly lost their shine after all the losses. Would have liked to have seen them get a lot of wins before elevating other lesser known guys. But hey too late now!

NXT are hotshotting matches for ratings and doing idiot stunts like dropping Dakota Kai head first through a table a few weeks ago. Too much pointless dives and multiple head crushing finishers for me too and im no stranger to indie wrestling style. Just sick of seeing it every match. Both companies should knock it off and save the dangerous s#@t for special occasions or it becomes boring at least for me anyway.

Im trying to catch up on NXT UK which is worth watching and keeping up with MLW and NWA POWER. I find MLW best promotion atm but it does have its off weeks depending on where they are or what company they may be working with. Last couple weeks with the OPERA CUP matches has been excellent.MJF is a regular with MLW as well which us another bonus. What a great heel he is!

In answer to your question. Yes i like the 3 man announce team but maybe for the wrong reasons. Tony and JR are into it but seem amazed at some of the indie style false finishers while Excalibur is right into it. You can actually hear JR and Tony giving advice to the talent in the commentry when they question the logic of the participants during the matches.

I also find Excalibur unintentionally hilarious like his now infamous "Butcher and Blade and Bunny" call which had me laughing my head off. Turns out the Butcher and Blade was not bad. Shame they lost in first match after all that fuss.

I think they will get even better in time and be a top announce team.
