USB power banks

Unread post by Slats » Sat Jan 19, 2019 8:01 pm

G day All
After purchasing my new Audio recorder and conducting my bench test with my Verbatim power bank (they don't have the low current shut off) I found out that it'll only power it for 2-3 days instead of the the 6 days with my previous recorder.
In my search for a larger power bank I found an adapter that will keep power banks, with low current shut off, on.
It's basically an adjustable load to fit between the power bank and what ever device you need to power.

Here is the link, it can be purchased cheaper in kit form if you're handy with a soldering iron or assembled for a little extra if you're not.

I have a 300 000mAH solar USB power bank once I have assembled the kit and I bench test it again and post an update.

Cheers

Hey Slats , about a year ago I bought a "Precision 11000 mah" battery pack to see what it would do .
I used it without batteries in the audio recorder and it ran the recorder all week .

Hey Rusty
It didn't seem to work with the solar power bank for some reason I might have had it set to low, I will keep playing with that one. I did get a cheap 15000mAh from office works it seems to be ok in the short test I did and it out in the field at the moment.
It's interesting that some power banks will switch of when the current draw is to low and others won't maybe it's just the solar one I have I can only get about eight hours out it.

So I have used the keep alive on my solar power bank it worked but I think mAh rating is not as suggested. The new power bank I purchased worked well and lasted for 5 days.
