On the Northern side of town behind Huge wrought iron security gates, is Ranleigh, a property built mid 1800's by a prosperous merchant.
It is a huge rambling home with the decor of the era it was built. The bedroom we have used the most has a four poster bed. It also is up to date with all mod cons, in ground pool,

Fully lit Tennis court. Full size Billiard table drop down over head screen and projector to name just a few features.

Getting back on topic, it is also the home to a few family members that are not aware they have not eaten for a while. My first experience was waking up and seeing an old man looking over me, I said your in the wrong room mate ( thinking he was another traveller ) and it was the way he faded away that made me think oh uh. Getting back to sleep I re woke about 2 am to witness a young girl about 10 year old silently hitting a bicycle rim running through the room it disturbed me a bit. She seemed real, she was running through the bed and me that disturbed me most. Not that it hurt. I woke my wife but she missed it all and after happening about 5 times was getting agro.
I asked the owner at breakfast in the morning if it was haunted, he said not that he new off.
A bit later his wife appeared and I asked her. A staring look back confirmed my experience.
She had only noticed a maid in rooms and when she would look back no one would be there. After describing my sightings she showed me a Book on historic Dubbo homes.
Looking through it I found photo's that included the spirits I saw.
The owners wife was a missionary and travelled to the Solomon Islands with her children doing the Christian thing. Two sons taken by the native cannibals, returned as bones to the home, and are buried in the grounds. Funny I didn't get to meet them.
Anyway I recommend it as a stopover or a few nights, great base for doing research, with conference type set up if needed.
Not spooky at all, up to you to make what you like of it.
