Restricted areas?

Hi everyoneI am a long time visitor to AYR site and have been reading posts for some time and finally decided to register for the Msg Board.

I have been visiting a location regularly which I have found Yowie activity i.e. Tree breaks, tree claw marks footprints etc.
But the problems is this area is restricted supposedly for water catchment purposes. You incur a $300 on the spot fine if caught there. This place has lot of wildlife living in it plus some stock. Furthermore it has a main rd right thru the middle of it.

I was reading in the Sydney Telegrpah yesterday in the Sydney Catchment land they are installing cameras to bust people entering these areas. I can understand that a 4WD can cause damage to such a place but... My question is surely a lowly bushwalker could not contaminate the local water supply too much?

I dont want to sound like Fox Mulder too much here but are they keeping us out for some other reason?? Something they dont want us to see?

I found these signs in other areas where I wanted to enter to do an investigation. Any thoughts?

Hmm, it could be something.. but.. I don't know. Could you give more info? The name of the location, etc?

Restricted water catchment areas also tend to be prime land for planting crops of a certain herb. That could be another reason for catching people in the catchments. There was a catchment down my way in Melbourne, where an old aquaintance of mine use to grow his personal crop. Until it was found and raided of course.

PS I read somewhere that Sydneys main water catchment and dam, are always low on water because it also supplies an Alien base as well as Sydney

It is in Port Stephens near Williamtown close to the RAAF base.

hey, iv been caught behind sydneys water supply. I also heard sumthing roar like nothing else from the outside of a deep mine shaft i was in while catching bats n stuff with mates. We had to hop over fences n climb ladders to get there n im also wondering if there could be another reason why we are not allowed in there apart from the whole terrorism act thing. What are your thoughts?

We have to face the fact that this country is not the safe and free place it once was unfortunately due to the terrorist threat. I doubt they would go to these lengths to protect the Yowie they would have an exzibit at taronga zoo making millions and say its for the study and protection of the species. But the cameras may work to our advantage if it this location is an active area and we could be watching Sandra Sully deliver a story of the mysterious hairy figure caught on camera maybe even a 10 exclusive.(wishfull). But the fact is we have people living in this country who have the potential and warped reasons to be a threat. Boo to Terrorism. [/b]

very intresting to it sounds like they are hideing something , and you think of all those people who pay for excess water when its being pupmed into a top secret underground alien ufo base , well if the rate of water consumption dosent go down in winter like it should do then theres something strange going on , and for then useing cameras well its a bit extream to do that ,

It's more likely that they don't want people traipsing around the catchment area for the public's safety and your own.

There are areas that are sensitive to regrowth and endangered or threatened species. Bushwalkers however careful can disturb wildlife that has a tenuous grip on existance.

There's also the issue of bushfires from careless smokers etc... Illegal waste dumping, illegal crop growing as previously stated. It's a whole gamut of reasons.

There were restricted signs pre 9/11 anyway. There are probably more now.

However, signs and fences will really only keep honest people out. From my understanding Yowies can't read and hate fences... so it's no barrier.

I disagree with some of your reasons for these restricted areas. As I stated in the first post there is a "main" rd that cuts directly through this land and that it also has stock living on it! Therefore they arent too worried about wildlife with a "tenuous grip on existance"
Sorry Buck but I dont just do as I am told by the government just because they say so. Furthermore I used to do bushwalking when I was in school and we used to walk in that area all the time.

Johnathan if you dont mind. Id rather talk to you in person before devulging the area where I found this activity. Perhaps we could meet up for a coffee somewhere one day?

hi quicksilver,while the powers that be,often have a hidden agenda,i feel that an area of lonely bushland "near"(as you said)the williamtown raaf base,would be more of a no go zone for our own national security.just picture this-some dirty little terrorist prick,gets a piece of dangerous military equipment,he wants to go meet allah,so how can he accomplish his role in life? he wants to blow up some important place,or thing of national significance.
takes his missile launcher for a drive.goes for a bush walk into a lonely spot near his target,and so on...got the picture.now just because our govnmt ignores ufo's,big black cats and anything that could end up as embarressing for them,they do accept that our way of life could be under threat by those dirty little terror bandit #@$*'s! that,to me would be the main reason for this no go zone..as for the road running through the area,..well,if you pull up on the main road next to the richmond air base,next to their fence,you usually get a visit by the mp's and told to move...so its likely this stretch of road has regular drive byes.last note;if you get mistaken for a potential terror suspect,are you gonna say you were in there getting yowie evidence?

Hi Quicksilver.

The area in question I have no idea of. It's just a sign and some fences on a message board to me. I used to walk quite freely in some parts of SE Queensland that had sealed rds, stock etc. For these reasons plus illegal ones they impacted on local wildlife and became restricted as we became more environmentally aware.

Who knows what's happening in your neck ot the woods. Good Luck and I hope you don't add to state revenue.

Good on the MP's at Richmond Base if the security at Williamtown was more relaxed theyd be comatose! Ive been on the base many times and have even had band practice there! and done gigs there!(had a drummer in the service). The signs as far as I remember were there before that dreaded date. The land as I said is part of the Tomago sandbeds and right near Grahamstown dam.
It could be as simple as that. Damn! next time I go out there I need remember to wear my Turban If I got caught It wouldnt be by military it would be waterboard people. The reason I asked your opinions in my original post is that many of the places that are odd around here that I wanted to investigate had keep out signs on them which I found coincidental.

BMMI what did you mean about the Gov ignoring UFO and Big Cat sightings?

I have a friend who was an officer in the army and one night when he was in the field they saw a UFO he officially reported it. He then had a visit from intel or mps and was promptly told that "he saw nothing".

now,back to the subject.the authorities and their ignorant stance,with regard to mostly all events of a supernatural nature.in fact are there any occurences,outside the realms of 'normal' that authorities publicly admit to?...this is what i mean about'ignore'..i hope this clears up any misunderstanding
