2. Google logging in The Pilliga.

Yes, there has been some logging in the Pilliga.
There have also been a lot of sightings there....I'm betting some of them even by loggers.
But none from Tasmania.
Therefore: a Tasmanian "Yowie" population is NOT as plausible as a mainland (eg, Pilliga Scrub) one.

Ok what I was getting at was maybe they just aren't being seen given the terrain and locations they choose to inhabit. Correct me if I'm wrong but I find it hard to believe that every square inch of Tassie forests have been logged, there must be some remote untouched areas left? Perhaps they inhabit these places hence the reason they aren't seen? I just find that easier to swallow than someone saying they aren't there because nobody has seen them full stop.

Tasmania is an island to the mainland. Any report of a Yowie on that island raises serious issues. Reports of yowies on any island raises serious issues of how?

You have to ask yourself, if someone reports seeing a Yowie, does that mean they necessarily have seen a physical creature? So if people aren't necessarily reporting a physical creature, even though they think they are, then what exactly are they reporting?

Wow', ok so someone doesn't conform to your views so you have a tantrum and resort to insults, well done very mature.
Now lets make some things perfectly clear I never said I "believe" they are in Tasmania in fact I can't say I "believe" they are even on the mainland or anywhere else in the world for that matter. I do however have an open mind to the matter and realise that if they do exist they are extremely good at concealing themselves, otherwise this website wouldn't exist and the Yowie would be under "y" in the "animals of the world book."I can also see two spots in Tassie on the very map this thread is about where sightings have been reported. I would call that "evidence" of some sort of presence, wouldn't you? Or are they lying "Mad Academic" to try and challenge your views??? Once again not saying they" are" or "must" be there, or anywhere in the world for that matter. What I am saying is you can't just do a quick Google search and not find anything that satisfies your criteria and then declare to the world that it's not possible the end full stop. Do 12 months in the field there and find nothing then maybe you can start to draw that conclusion, until then open minds perhaps?

The only one that comes to mind is the puzzling 1932 photograph taken by Reg Jones. Made famous by Warrick Moss and The Extraordinary TV series, this mysterious image from the past continues to haunt researchers to this day.
An amazing real image or a great example of pareidolia? I can't make a firm decision, but after several views of the video, I lean towards the former rather than the latter. It's here on AYW. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6D5R4WF9HjI
Just hope one day you can get as lucky as old Reg... With your camera gear being just a tad better than the 1930's Box Brownie, the result could be something brilliant!

By suggesting, the Yowie is not a normal flesh and blood creature, is not the same as saying yowies are ghosts. Its like, 500 blobsquatch videos does not equal one definitive video of a physical yowie. Do you agree, Rusty?

Let's assume for a second, the witnesses did observe physical, flesh and blood, normal animals. Please explain how there's two yowie reports in Tasmania?

If they are permanent residents in the Tasmanian wilderness, for a viable population of physical animals to exist in an area for a long period of time without genetic defects emerging, the figure is in the thousands. Tasmania is tiny. Are the entire Tasmanian yowie population born experts at disguising themselves as trees and rocks? Did harry potter supply the entire population with invisibility cloaks and automatic being watched by human and camera lens detectors?

Were the Tasmanian yowies, instead, tourists? If so, how? Stowaway on a ship to Tasmania, stowaway on a plane, swam there from the mainland, built a boat and used it to traverse the bass Strait? No, perhaps they were dropped off by aliens in ufos, or popped out of a cave entrance from a secret subterranean tunnel entrance? They teleported there or strolled into Tasmania via a dimensional portal or mini black hole they opened themselves?

Laugh if you will, but these are all theories people have made money from in book sales!

I'm interested in hearing some of the board members theories!

I could see his pigment on his flesh , blotchy like freckles , redish brown , ginger .

How did you come to this conclusion ?The above encounter sounds very much like a physical creature and the witness at no time mentions anything about paranormal , invisibilty or anything remotely to do with the fantastic .

Don't get me wrong Scarts , all I'm saying is I don't think anyone should be assuming anything no matter what they've seen . Don't worry , I saw the same thing as you but I've also seen a physical creature . Could it be remotely possible that they are physical creatures with a trick up their sleeve ? What's the simplest explanation ? And don't give me that mass psychosis theory because it doesn't add up , not everyone's crazy.

Searcher , I think you may have missed my point a little , Scarts seems to be alluding to his spointaneous psychosis theory again . Again , don't get me wrong , everyone has their own opinion and I respect that . It's pretty obvious to me that people are seeing physical creatures BUT there's the dreaded dissapearing yowie which seems to be constantly throwing a spanner into the physical creature sprockets . What's the simplest explanation ?

Once I told my brother back home in NZ, about the Yowie LOL, he became very interested and was gonna bring his dogs and himself to help find one !

Watching on Australia Day the program on a teams search for possible evidence of Tassie Tigers still existing in Tasmania, the team went into a location of wilderness( I can't remember the name of the place right now ) where very few men venture into. Due to the fact the only way you can access the area of wilderness is by crossing the river by boat, but the river itself is extremely treacherous at times due to the weather and hazards in the river itself.

The team in question once they got into that area of wilderness found some interesting footprints worth investigating on there, not Yowie related as such but evidence of a large mammal in that area, which the team were not fully sure of it's identification.

Back to the map, I'm surprised at the amount of sightings around Springbrook as it is supposed to have the most sightings in the whole of Australia?
I'm beginning to wonder if someone from AYR has constructed this map, as all the points relate to AYR?
There are many other sightings not reported to AYR, ie people who have no idea AYR exist, park rangers, tourists etc.

As for the pig hunter comments..... I got no idea who you guy's know that hunt...... I'm a pig hunter - not all of us are gun-ho shoot every thing in sight we all talked about our sighting & would of happened after-woods if the Yowie went down - mixed opinions here.

As for the map - yeah good idea - need more sightings in the Kowmung, Oberon, Edith, Shooters Hill, Rockley areas, also the area around Gowan will be hopefully listed?

Apologies for reviving a more than 2 month old thread, but:

1. Since this map refers back to mostly AYR reports, is it possible that it was established by Mr Harrison or someone else associated with this website?
2. Having said that, a closer examination reveals LOTS of errors, as if development stopped or went astray at some stage. What I refer to is the fact that many of the Yowiehunters links revealed when you click-on a location on the map are simply incorrect - they are merely repeats of (the correct) links for other locations. All a bit disappointing. Programming errors perhaps?

It wasn't done by anyone at Yowiehunters, gut feel is it may have been done by someone associated with AUFORN as they have done similar maps in the past.
