Really interesting read, very terrifying thought regarding a "portal trap".

Certainly that article made for some entertaining reading!
However, it must be considered that Brent Swancer is a prolific professional writer with a penchant for the bizarre and as such, I believe he is taking creative licence. Just Google his name and you'll see what I mean.
I would have to see a lot more substantiation before deeming any of those stories in the article as truthful.

Most of what I read on the internet I treat that way, I do however enjoy reading such stories.

Re: Spontaneously Vanishing Bigfoot
Good post and these vanishing Bigfoot reports are not isolated incidences, they have been witnessed many times.
I wouldn't imagine an ex-Navy corpsman putting himself in a position of possible ridicule if it wasn't the truth. The disappearing before your eyes; no blood when shot, all factors I believe in.
We have to realize that these are complex creatures with baffling abilities and we are no closer to understanding them than we have been previously and I suspect we never will.

Re: Spontaneously Vanishing Bigfoot
Personally, I never entirely discount ANYTHING.
I remember reading a Louis Lamour story decades ago where the main character accidentally stepped through a 'shimmering in the air' near some ancient indian adobe huts and found himself in a parallel world.
The odd thing about it was the fact that Louis Lamour was renowned for being precisely accurate describing his environments. He trekked, camped and lived in the environments he wrote about and took great pride in the fact that EVERY cave, creek, valley, forest, ridge-line, etc his characters traversed actually existed... yet here he was writing about a 'portal' into another world!
In at least two novels he also described his hero encountering an 'old hermit'... usually when said hero was recovering from a near-death gunshot wound or suchlike. The hero would awaken from his incapacitation to find the 'hermit' or 'wild man' squatting at the edge of his camp watching him. In both stories I remember reading the hero felt extremely uneasy and creeped out at its presence. Looking back I am convinced Lamour was describing someone/thing he actually saw in his own extensive travels, but could not bring himself to fully describe it as a bigfoot.
Add to this a report from Bob Garrett of stepping through a similarly described 'shimmering' while gold prospecting and, in my mind at least, I am leaning towards such a possibility.

Interesting article, great read...I personally think they are an early hominid but I don't discount other possibilities.Truth is nobody can say they know for sure what they are.Maybe they are supernatural, maybe they just have learnt ways to avoid humans that make them seem supernatural because they certainly leave us humans in the dust with their amazing agility and strength. There has been a few reports on this forum where people have thought they disappeared or they seem to glide just above the ground.I think they are by far the most interesting cryptid simply because there are so many differing views as to what they actually are and maybe the truth is even stranger than we think.

From the same site, though slightly off-topic. There's definitely something to cases like this. The world's a stranger place than we like to admit, so I wouldn't discount this as some kind of as-yet-misunderstood natural occurrence.
