Hey guys
Just found ya sight as i am not much of a computer person, apart from research etc, no social media accounts at all etc, pretty strange these days lol.
I have had many strange occurances including paranormal and uap sightings. However after much research i have determined that i may indeed have had a couple of encounters with our hairy friends...?
The first was while ona hike some 10 yrs ago to the old mine site at Boolumba camp ground 4 with my wife, it was late afternoon we arrived at the site and looked around but we had this awful vibe that someone was watching us, we started taking shots hoping to catch orbs or something when my wife was hit in the shoulder with a lump of wood that was quiet clearly thrown as it was off the ground...we knew no humans were up there as we were the only people in the forest as we had been flooded in for 3 days so we decided to clear out pretty quick lol...i lost my car the next day in the river trying to get out....
The next time was 18mths ago we rented a 30 acre property at the top of the Kalang river about 45 minutes from Bellingen. At the time we were there at no time did i ever consider this being a yowie....the property was incredibly steep and covered in rainforest, very similar to nearby Gondwana national park, it was truly stunning with 2km of untouched bass rich river running through.
The things that were odd are as follows and some are on another realm to yowies....my motherin law seen a large black mass move through a wall while playing scrabble with my daughter, my wife seen it another time. My lil kids would scream and complain of scratching on the windows but i found nothing...i would have tools and lighters dissapear and reappear, even on request sometimes...i would say ok put it back and come back half hr later and it would be on the bench...the workshop was an open roofed area adjacent to thick scrub lined creek bed that went around the house like a mout..and i know i heard someone in there many times but dismissed it as wild dogs due to location. me and my eldest son 18 ran home many times with feeling of dread when in isolated part of property, i also found a s#@t that i put down to a big dog but even at the time i asked my son if he had dropped one in the paddock lol it was huge!!!. Another day i was about 2km up the ridgeline from our property as i heard a cow in distress so headed up it was uber steep, as i was approaching the ridgeline something took off at a great rate ofknots i dismissed it as a big roo, but i said to my wife later it sounded like a giant runnin down the ridgeline, roos dont crash through s#@t they take the path of least resistance, this was crashing for hundreds of metres and thud thud thud.. so loud on a sandy scrubby ridgeline..i also use to be creeped out by an owl that would watch me and eventually jumped down on the ground starring at me and i was so freaked out i threw s#@t at it lol, it kept comin back each night for about a week, after that it would sit above the front door and flap if i came out...and once my wife was adament there was a prowler but it was virtually impossible unless you were a ninja to get to us, you need to see the property to understand and the fact our nearest neighbour was kms away.. We also had a horrid smell would come and go through out the time, we thought it was the septic but professional came out and was fine....smelt like stale piss.
there were many other more paranormal happenings there aswell but i cant help but think we were having visits from a yowie...and i never thought i would of ever said that in a sentence...
But after researching and digesting this i have decided to make this a mission of mine, I have 4 kids, am a veterans affairs pensioner, served my country as specialist infanteer for a decade and now want to put my skills of tracking, reconnaisance, navigation. Was also a writer/photographer for fishing and camping publications for many years and am an accomplished fly fisherman.
I can go back to Kalang anytime, which i will in the near future for a research trip, but i am now residing in the Wide Bay area and want to start with some nearby trips, like Bauple Mountain, Deepwater national park, gayndah,kenilworth and milla milla/Boolumba.
Ifanyone is looking for an off sider for a trip i am always available??

Glad to see another person with an open mind and willing to explore the idea that there actually is something living in our forests .
An audio recorder has worked well for me and might work well for you .
This one is a beaut and I'd recommend it , dont go on the cheap or you'll regret it .

Cheers Rusty, I have several high quality cameras and was looking for an audio solution, i will check it out.
We use to hear large trees fall on the property 3 in a row about 1 minute apart lol mainly the shallow rooted camfers along the water and at night you would hear massive splashes in the ck, bigger then fish and now when i think about it it may be hairy with his amazing eye site picken bass off the surface at night ass they wouldnt see him..., i wish i was thinking back then....never thought to ask locals about them either...but as i said i have unrestricted access to that area and i reckon with a few people you would certainly find something...

Sounds like definate activity .
Be very careful , the yowie subject is quite capable of destroying marriages , banks accounts and the loss of your property , I've seen it happen .

Welcome aboard Truthseeker73, I'm a newbie here myself. There's a plethora of info on this forum which I'm sure you'll find useful..
You live in a great part of the country, I'd move up there in a flash if work wasn't such an issue. Love my fishing also, ya's have it all up there, big river country and great beaches and headlands also..
Ive only been after bass once, but grew up fly fishing some awesome trout country back in NZ..
Hopefully you can find a buddy up your way, Im winging it by myself atm but keeping it local till I get a feel for it.. Good luck

Hi Truthseeker. Welcome to the forum. Sounds like youve had a lot of odd experiences there!

Have you heard of the Humpty Doo poltergiest? Its very much like the things dissapearing and reappearing etc that you mentioned in your post.

The book Australian Poltergeist by Healy and Cropper covers a lot of these types of hauntings in outback Australia.

thanks mate will check out, i have had this sort of activity my whole life as has my sister, infact she is way more sensative, she has regular conversations with spirits etc in her home shops everywhere and has told people stuff they have told her that no one knew....
