I just joined the Yowie Hunters forum to let everyone here know the results of our investigation into Mr. Nero's alleged film of a Yowie sighted across the street from 37 Wellington Road, Katoomba, NSW at 7:40pm on Saturday evening, June 24, 2006. I am the staff investigator with the Squatch Detective organization who established dialog with Marco Nero about the video clip. The Squatch-D organization specializes in verifying the authenticity and credibility of film, video, photographs and audio recordings.
Mr. Nero perplexed the Squatch Detective investigative team in that he was quite open and upfront about how such a video could be staged if it was a prank. He was a matte painter who worked on the Star Wars III production filmed in Australia and was matter of fact about his many connections with the special effects industry. He told us what each Wookie costume cost and where they were being warehoused. He certainly came across as being honest, well-informed and trustworthy.
Throughout our contacts with him, he held to his story that the video clip was the only movie with sound recorded that he recorded on his high-end digital camera during a holiday trip to Katoomba where he was staying in a rental house with friends of his wife whom he knew only be their first names. Despite the remarkable encounter which appears in the video clip, he took no other movies before or after the clip in question-- especially the following day during daylight hours. He produced and sent us marked site locations which in effect formed a storyboard for the action seen in the clip. When pressed for corroborative evidence, he said he would help us get in touch with at least one of the other eyewitnesses whose voice is heard on the video clip-- but after waiting a month this never happened. Unfortunately, Mr. Nero failed to give us anything more to work with than his own testimony about the story behind the video clip.
Sadly, the videographer seemed to be more interested in impressing us by promoting himself, his celebritydom and his accomplishments-- and not at all interested in seeking validation as an eyewitness and videographer of a potential cryptic hominid creature. He failed to defend the right things under subsequent forensic cross-examinations.
If this video was authentic, it certainly would have presented significant evidence for the existence of Yowies in Australia-- much as the Patterson-Gimlin Film from 1966 is seen as evidence for the existence of Sasquatch/Bigfoot animals in North America.
Go to http://squatchdetective.com/katoomba.html to view a copy of the original video and read the final report from this investigation. We regretfully conclude that this video clip shows nothing more remarkable than someone wearing at least the upper half of a Wookie costume.

Well if we had any doubts before your detective work has squashed them now.Hoax well i thought when i first saw it it was real then i realised a short time later that all the other footage on the same site were all hoaxes and rubbish.Once again people who want to make a mockery of a animal which we all admire and respect. I hope they spent a fortune. :x Very good work uncovering the plot.Maybe its best that Yowies stay a "MYTH" In most peoples eyes anyway..
