random sticks stuck into the ground

Unread post by Mysteriousotways »

Hey all
This is my first post and it is in regards to something that I seem to be coming across again and again in the Otways National Park in Victoria.
I do a lot of 4WDriving in the area and spend at least one weekend a month In Apollo bay.
Years ago I saw a black panther in the area and spend some time trying to find evidence of their existence in the area so I have had a keen interest in cryptids of all sorts but up until a year or so ago had no interest or belief in the yowie subject.
There is an old abandoned sawmill that I first visited around this time and it was here that we first heard "wood knocks" which I had heard is associated with yowies.
On subsequent visits to the same location we heard further wood knocks and a very strange whistle which was loud and kept thesame ppitch lasting for around 10seconds.
Now to what has made me write this post.
We keep coming across sticks stuck deep into the ground vertically.
The sticks range in size from anything from a metre to 2 metres in length and an inch in diameter stuck atleast 10cms into the ground.
They are difficult to remove and once removed I can not replicate the process of inserting them like they were found as I haven't the strenght.
We find these sticks along 4x4 tracks and also while hiking in remote areas both along trails and while "bush bashing" where there are no trails.
Today we ventured back down the mill and I found the strangest stick yet.
This stick had been pushed right through a fallen tree!
I went down to the mill today to get footage for a video I will be posting on my YouTube channel " Mysteriousotways "
After today's find I have decided to start a second youtube channel dedicated to these sticks which I wonder could be yowie activities.
Has anyone else come across similar stuff?
Any ideas on the situation?
I will post the video when I get back to Melbourne.
Cheers Kev

An excellent start, not that I'm an expert in either yowie-hunting or film-making. You don't need to be told, but anyway, if you go there to investigate at night, go with someone else and leave the kid/s at home!

Hi. New to this. I spend 1-2 days a week wondering the Otways with a freindly often on tracks in remote locations for old historic forgotten places. Last 12 months I went solo a number of times to look for possible paths into historic sites to return later with the freindl and hike fully in. My story is the same as posted above . I kept silent and would drive to another location to explore for the day and not tell anyone of strange events or signs and sounds. One occasion I was "whistled" like the one hanging around my neck out of the last 500 Meters of track to where I was parked. Very steep mountain side old logging g road with no side tracks. I called out thinking maybe 1% chance a hiker fell of the track and broke a leg but couldn't get closer to the noise and as thought I was being fooled yet in such remote area I decided to leave quickly. My searching for answers has led me here. My story of the Otways is the same as above. Sometime return to a site thinking i was imagining things laughing to myself inside only for more events. Haven't had anything.unusal when hiking with my friend presumably we are distracted and make too much noise.
