What would happen if someone killed a Yowie?

Unread post by iwanttobelieve »

Let's forget about the moral right-or-wrong arguments that usually come out when this type of question is posed and consider the implications of such an event.

In a purely hypothetical scenario let's assume a truck driver minding his own business accidently kills a Yowie on a lonely country road and presents the creature for all the world to see.

What would the reaction be if there was 100% physical proof that Yowies do in fact exist?

if you found one dead, leave it . if you thought you would find fame and fortune by bringing it to public attention, you wont.
our authorities would take it, destroy(?) it, and deny it. no more evidence. photos and footage would be called fake. followed by smear campaign on an individual who persists.
Authorities hate to be wrong, and would hate to have to admit to something in our bush that is out of government control. Would they have to fence off all bushland, electric ? or send in hunting teams?
much easier to just deny it.

In answer to the original post, I'm sceptical a truck is capable of killing a yowie creature, considering firing bullets at the creatures has often been reported as useless.

Hypothetically though, the yowie corpse would mysteriously vanish (of it's own volition or other means), the truck driver's reputation would be revealed as unreliable along with his evidence, and the incident would be filed away into the cryptozoology black hole.

In the optimistic yet unlikelihood a yowie corpse is stumbled upon by a yowie researcher:
Treat it as a crime scene! Take as many photographs of it from as many different angles as you can. Video record the entire procedure! Open the eyelids if closed and photograph the eyes, open the mouth and get close photos of the teeth. Take a collection of loose hair samples from it, sealing them in plastic, just as you would any hair sample for later DNA analysis. Then, using a casting silicon polymer, take foot impressions, hand impressions, and face and teeth impressions.

When done, taking great care to leave no remnants of casting residue at the scene or on the yowie body, get the fuzz in to investigate the strange deceased you've just located. When they've finished, and they're long gone, don't be surprised if you've accidentally recorded all the pandemonium of their time at the scene! Shock can make people forgetful!

I don't know yowie behavior patterns well enough to say, but lets take it from that angle. Lets say there is more than one around should it get killed by a car or truck. Said driver gets out to investigate the body. From reports I've read on various sites, the primate down there tends to be more hostile to humans than here in N. America. Also more so than the Almasti in Eastern Europe and Russia. There is one report in the last 5 yrs of a man here in N.America hitting one with his ford taurus. The Hood was badly mangled and the right fender was ripped off. He called 911 cause he thought he had hit a person. The driver, ambulance crew, and police tracked noises through the woods for over an hour and never got closer than 10 meters as it kept moving. So there's a good likelihood said driver would gat mauled or killed. It's also interesting to note that the primate you have in that part of the world is the only one where crude tools have been found. There are some basic traits these primates do exhibit the world over and, it's very interesting to compare some of the sighting reports with facts about known primates such as the gorilla and chimp. I am curious if the primate you have there creates stick formations or if small limbs are littered about with the bark peeled off. I haven't found any of that in what I've read so far. The smell people describe as very pungent, almost metallic at times is described in sighting reports the world over as well, and that's a direct correlation with Silverback gorillas. When threatened or aggressive, male Silverbacks emit a pheremone that produces this same scent. I can tell you what attracts them here in N. America faster than anything else and that's bacon grease poured on a tree. That scent carries for several KM's and it's not something they would smell in the wild. Also, that scent gets the saliva glands going and the stomach to rumbling and that's why it draws them in. If any of you plan expiditions to research this primate, I recommend not going alone and take the necessary equipment and provisions you'll need for the day. Please keep in mind you're dealing with a primate that borders on a human level of intelligence.

Has anyone heard of any reports of a dead yowie (or suspected remains) being found?

The number of sightings seems to suggest yowies are found throughout Australia and have been around for some time.

They must die at some point.

Are there any theories about how this occurs or why remains haven't been found?

I can tell you from experience here that within 6 days a corpse is around 80% gone. Carrion eaters, insects and general decomp work very quickly on anything out in the wilderness. Even Bison remains here in the states are unfindable as wolves will crunch through and eat the very big bones with no trouble.

......interesting question iwanttobelieve... what if they did a DNA analysis on the Yowie and it was proven to be deemed more human than animal or beast?... are you going to be charged with something like culpable driving causing death or even manslaughter?.... what if you shot a Yowie and it was deemed a human being... would you be charged with murder???... could a Yowie be a hybrid of both human and animal DNA?... what rights would it have if captured?... would be be put in a detention centre with other humans or a cage with animals in a laboratory somewhere?... until it actually happens for sure... we will never know methinks... again...welcome to AYR to you to iwanttobelieve... (it's good to see so many new members on board)...Stickyfingers. :)

What would be the response? well i reckon Ray Charles could see it....Government social policy makers would swing into action, the MACHINE would erupt into action with a new Dept of Hominid or something like that, they would get centrelink benefits?..well who knows, AND where does that leave Land Rights now that we have the REAL original hominid inhabitants of this land.
The implications for society, the church and aboriginals would be far reaching

cheers all

...OMFG wouldn't THAT open a can of worms topender?... I have absolutely no problems with Aboriginals and their Lands Rights claims... to them I say... you're entitiled to it... but WHAT IF?... what happens from a legal point of view?... the implications of this question would be amazing to see how it pans out in a court of law.... I imagine that it would be like that movie with Robin Williams where he plays a robot trying to be considered an equal to a human beings... ( Bicentennial Man)... how would that end up?...

...I am just sooooo hoping that if a pod of Yowies were discovered alive... would they have ANY legal rights at all... hopefully...YES?... not forgetting that right now as we talk... they are classified as Animals or Beasts at the moment...

...anyway... a lot of "what if's" to ponder about I suppose... Stickyfingers. :)
