SAS tackle Ormeau Yowie - Posted: Thu Jan 13, 2005 10:39 am
I'm sure everyone remembers when this happened, it was very hard to forget. See the link below if you need to know what I'm talking about.
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=14
I was flicking through "The Yowie" by Paul Cropper and Tony Healy last night and having read it a couple of times it suddenly dawned on me.....Nowhere in this book was this event mentioned. Not even in the back, where the authors outline every instance where a person thinks they might have encountered a yowie, in numbered sequence. Yet this event, which I would have thought to be one of the most significant witness reports in recorded history, was not mentioned once.
Does anyone know why? Or can anyone point out that in my disbelief I have simply flicked over the pages it is on?

I have an inkling that they may of, however it was only a fleeting mention. I'm not certain. I am aware it did'nt receive a full write up.
The problem was that Paul or Tony didn't have the opportunity to speak to them directly, as where I did.

It certainly deserved a full write up....I'll double-check anyway. I'm just astounded that an event of that magnitude wouldn't be 100% looked in to when compiling evidence for a book. It is however a fantastic read, compliments to the authors.
Thanks mate.

I checked the index which lists every page Ormeau is mentioned on, and this incident is nowhere to be seen.....The only reason I can come up with is that perhaps it's recorded as occurring in a different area. Or it isn't there at all.
Either way, it just seems odd.

I'm probably flogging a dead horse here, but has any activity in that area been seen since? Or it (they've) gone for good.

I can't recall any recent sightings off the top of my head (that are of any significance anyway)....but a lot of people will see someone and not say anything.
It is usually a couple of years betwwen major incidents anyway. Looks like we're due for one soon.
I might have to get out there and take matters into my own hands.....If I'm not back online in the next few days, send a rescue party...not that there would be much left to rescue...haha.

Hi All.
I had Tony Healy over for dinner when he was in Darwin and we actually spoke about the SAS encounter.
As I recall Tony and Paul were a little dubious about the credibility of the story at the time of writing their book.
Not sure why but as Dean mentioned the reason for this could have been that they just hadn't had a chance to interview the witnesses.
