Yowie Map

Unread post by Yowielover1 »

Has anyone considered doing a colour coded map of yowie sightings? Green for within 6 months ago through a few colours to black 30+ years ago? Would be interesting to see the groupings over the country.

Maybe another map could be done to show the distribution of sizes of bipeds spotted.

Just a thought...does anyone have the information required to do such a map? It would be an invaluable resource for all of us wouldn't it?

Maybe it has been done. I would like to see it.

gday yowie lover1, dont know if ya seen the BFRO sight, but you can download a bigfoot sighting location onto google earth, it has a timeline slide bar so you can look at each indivual year or the 20 odd thousand sightings at once, its awesome.
something like that would be great for oz, but im guessing it could cost a bit. :?

I have more detailed maps, however this is all I could find on this PC.

If someone can give me more accurate details I can make an overlay (like BFRO) for Google Maps/Earth for us. Everyime a new sighting? New update!
..people don't tend to notice him standing there in the last frames..

I don't 'spose there's a Brissie/SEQ one hiding somewhere is there Dean?

Hey Dean.

I notice one of those X's is located just south of Wellington and seems to be near Burrendong Dam.

I don't recall reading about any reports in that area. Do you know where I could get some more info?

Just curious as I grew up around there and never heard of "local" Yowies. Most reports always seemed to come from further east in the Blue Mountains as your map demonstrates.

I was going to volunteer for it but on thinking about it, it needs to be a multi-aspect data base covering subjects like sighting class, date/season, number sighted, and other things that escape me at the moment. How about we all come up with ideas to base this map on, and then see if we can do it. I have no problem helping by classifying cases, but we should decide on a template for class eg. class A: sighting a yowie, class B: smelling/hearing one, and class C: finding evidence such as footprints/ tree breaks, beds.

If we can get enough people helping out a little bit each, this shouldnt take too long. We also need to find someone who can tell us how to collate data in a usable form/program to be displayed on a map with multiple parameter aspects.

give it some thought people, and of course Dean :) Surely we can work together and make this as painless and useful as possible.

All constructive ideas....

Yes I do have a map of Qld, however again, its on an external HD that I would have to find. Someone broke into this PC 3 weeks ago, the only time I have ever left it on all night and they deleted all my AYR files (60G - gone). Didn't touch 80G of hundreds of other files, just the AYR. Charming.

The sighting near Wellington was at the Dam many years ago. There have been encounters between Wellington and Mudgee for decades.

Thanks Dean.

Sorry to hear about all the data you lost.

You would think those idiots would have something better to do.

Hope you made some back-ups and can recover your files. It would be a shame to lose such a wealth of information and even worse to think that someone else might be trying to benefit from your years of research.

Spooky gov types more likely than just a random idiots, they would have to know what their doing... Dean do you know specifically what they deleted, anything critical, maybe some tangible proof that you may have overlooked, or something that may show some gov department to look like gooses, do the same thing and make it look random idiot mode...

Must agree with that. Deleting specific files. About a subject they may not want the public to know about.

Sorry to hear about that, Dean.

I'm new to this and go bush alone quite a bit in the Southern Flinders Ranges. Has anyone got any reports or even maps of evidence of them in this area?
