If you have the nerve there is a way. (when they are there) As 2 people enter, there is always 1 large one that walks past us on the left down that hill on the creek bank and walks around to get up behind us, it is extremely noisy, throwing palm throngs around, heavily stomping.There is always 1 on our right as well but dont worry about that one, it just thumps and rolls the rocks down that hill, its the 1 that stops us entering at a bend prior to the main creek bank.

So as the 2 people walk in, you need to go down that hill near the car and walk up that creek bank(toward it). It only comes up when it hears the car, so as soon as u get out of the car you need to climb down, walk up the creek 20 metres and hide--you will see it as it will continue its path listening to the 2 people walking in.
We never go in any other direction so it may be fooled.
Unless it can smell you.It is the really angry one.
Somethin u can think about lol.Better bring spare underwear!

The trick is to find a time when they are around.

No point in sneaking around, they know you are there and where you are always.
When they are fooled, which is sometimes!
Has a bush turkey appeared! As they often shapeshift into them.

Taking a good bush dog with you, is always a great help, they have great sense of dimensions.

They will not hurt you!
Just talk to them in a positive happy manner.

Hi all, well here we go again. Been waiting for May for so long. Looking back on all my notes on the year it is apparent:

The more that are there the more they communicate

They come up close when theres 2 or 3 of us
They are not around/close when there are cricket or animal noises
They are not there to harm us!

ice cold (when they are extremely close)

Probably forgot a few things--maybe ron could help out?

After seeing what we saw, i am going with wellys theory.
Going to talk to them, respect them more, and understand there ways.
Ready for a whole new year.

And the rock dropped from a height next to Josh and the branch about 10 seconds later falling which we managed to pick up on the go pro. It certainly is one action packed area at times. Well done Dee I think you have covered all of our experiences out there.

Thanks Dee and Ron for sharing your experiences and Dee, good on you for persisting after all the nutty and scary happenings. I hope you have some more sightings this year. Maybe try a few no tech trips? You may find yourself turning around and looking straight at one if you have no cameras or phones on!?

It's extraordinary how accurate the hairy guys can be with their stone throwing they could take your head off with one stone if they so desired but it's obviously just a warning to get out. They are able to throw stones and sticks that land just a metre or so from you no matter from what distance. Even pebbles thrown from some distance ( although what size these pebbles are I'm not sure) that actually hit you and doesn't cause injury requires finesse beyond human capabilities. Although, as you say you have felt being touched twice so maybe the Yowies are not as far away as we think when they let loose with projectiles. Either way, it really is perplexing.

Can I ask how many times you guys have been out and how many times you have an interaction (say 50:50, or 1/10 etc)? Could you please also elaborate on the comment depending on who's with you as to whether you have any interactions? Do you think you get less or more reactions with different people?

You are correct. The extreme accuracy is incredible. The only times we have actually been hit by a rock it has been on purpose, its always tiny pebble stones thrown below the knees everytime. On page 2 theres a pic of the size of most rocks thrown around us--between us walking. Then theres the larger rock/boulders we call them that get rolled down the hills smashing through trees and land on the edge of the pathways we walk.
They play games with the smaller ones saying"WHERE HERE" i think the larger rocks are them saying"LEAVE"---not sure.

Hi, thanks. probably been out in the same area about 30 times now mostly around 8pm, same nights in 1 year. 6 times out of 10 they are about.

I firmly believe and this is my own opinion
-They seem to know who is more of a hunter-they stay clear
-the skeptic we bought out they sure let him know they were there--large rock got thrown past his face.
-if someone new goes running directly in the srub to see them, they back of in the far distance.
-the ones who are there for the experience alone have great interaction, hit a stick on a tree 3 x , they reply 3x.
Calm but scared people get great interaction as well.

When just ron and i go out together its like they know us, we have been going out from the start and have offered food, we get the most things happening all at once--gets scary.They meet us at the carpark and call us in, knock trees over and all sorts.

Less people is always best.

A few times last year i thought they lobbed a couple of pebbles but i only saw them land and always when im leaving. Just a few weeks ago i actually saw a small rock fly past me and land to my left but right in front of me. It came from the direction I had just been for the last hour just sitting and scanning the forest.

They must be very accurate to hit a pinpoint target through the trees without hitting one.

I seem to get blocked off where ive been and fine to roam within those boundaries. The few times i thought id be a smartass and go around the blockades, something always happens to make me think twice about it.

Thanks for taking me out the other week Dee and Ron, I've never had a rock thrown at me like that, I was quite startled!

I found the whole experience pretty frightening. I've likened it to the feeling of swimming in open ocean when you know that there are sharks around!

Hi hux, you are welcome, all we want is for others to see what we saw. I know you were nervous. After having them near the car i didnt blame you for hesitating walking in the bush. I did have to laugh that night you started up smoking again. You did well-better then my first time. You are so used to going out in the day alone , its always different in the dark.

I totally agree with you. It is not at all funny. Going by what you said, I don’t think it is hilarious. Bush walking in itself is scary and such creepy wilderness incidents scare me a lot. On the other hand, my better half is very daring and bold. He likes such adventures. I often restrain him from such adventures.
Yowie in itself is mysterious, encountering one among them is not a simple thing.
Recently, I was reading true stories of disturbing bushwalking stories and hiking. It took me a few days to regain my composure. To add to my woes, a well-grown raccoon lurking in my garden during the wee hours of the day had the s#@t scared out of me. Raccoon removal experts say that they are very intelligent and are not scared of much. They are strong and defend themselves.
They are cuddly, wonderful to watch, but make a mess out of garbage and veggies in my garden.

Maybe they are up in the trees dropping rocks as well...

There was also 29 tree knocks in succession Which you may be able to pick up with good audio.
