Ive been fooled so often that its hard to trust any. I was once convinced i was watching a white sasquatch on a firing range until i read the comments of course and someone pointed out it was part of a plant or wheat blowing in the wind....

That's a better analysis, and the subtitles (if accurate) make it seem even less authentic. I still feel silly for being fooled though - it's clearly someone using some kind of arm extensions, possibly a more robust version of these gadgets.....

It's so indistinct, I really couldn't say what it was for certain based only on those still images.

The way the hair looks, the length of the arms, as well as the gait, all look convincing.

As ever, I'm not sure what to think simply due to the number of fake videos that are out there. I'd like to think it's genuine footage, but I cannot accept that this is real without more detail in the video. I'd need to see a face or something before I'd say this was 100% legit.

Yeah Simon its a good one. Similar to patty like they say. Gotta take em all with a grain of salt though with bigfoot being such a big deal nowdays. The videos are getting better. Ive been watching the cascadebigfoot videos on youtube. Some are overly long but a few worth having a look at. Fella seems genuine enough but who knows? Seems like a massive unpopulated area..

Love the fact that the hair is so shiny - looks like he/she has just had a shower and shampoo treatment.

My concern is that too many people have mischief in mind, and pretty much everyone in every developed country has internet access so it's difficult to accept some of these videos (I find it difficult, anyway). Also, online hoax videos are to this generation of kids what prank phone calls were to people my age when we were kids (I'm 45).

If someone was determined and organised, they could conceivably make a suit from animal hair (for that authentic sheen) and make something that looks halfway convincing enough to get lots of views on YouTube or whatever their aim is. It can't be impossible to get horse hair if you know people who work at an agistment property, animal grooming service, etc. If you were resourceful and had a mind to do it, it's not far-fetched (in my opinion).

If I were to see a Yowie's face (that looked genuinely lifelike) in a shaky, hand-held bit of video recorded on someone's phone, I'd be more convinced. I don't know why, but the lack of a visible face always makes me doubtful. I know these things aren't planned, and stuff happens quickly sometimes, but I am suspicious of the fact that everyone seems to video these things from the same angle. It always looks (to me) like they're just trying to re-do the Patterson/Gimlin film and suck people in.

Now it could be the case that the Hairy Folks are using their '45 degree angle' stalking technique on the people with the cameras and that's why people only see 'em from the same angle, I don't know. It just seems weird to me that these 'surprise' encounters never seem to involve a close up of a face.

I can understand why people wouldn't want to anger one of these things if they saw one, and I can understand if someone - in the shock of the moment - doesn't think to do something obvious like zoom in. They're probably to amazed and trying to process what they're seeing, so it's likely that they wouldn't be thinking on their feet.

I'm only an armchair warrior (actually, it's a swivel chair from Officeworks) but this is a topic I've been interested in since I was a kid watching In Search Of on a Saturday afternoon in the 70's on a Blaupunkt telly in the lounge room, while eating fish fingers out of a melamine bowl...but it does bother me that we never seem to get a decent look at their faces.

I haven't got any real life experience in the field, and I actually span out back in 2014 when I saw an echidna in its natural habitat for the first time in my life. The most exotic thing I've ever seen in the wild was Mitchell's Hopping Mouse (late one night, here in Portland in Victoria....the thing just hopped in front of my wife and I one night when we were walking along the grass on the ridge above Nun's beach), so I am no expert.

I have the utmost regard for anyone who has the time and energy to go out and search for the unknown. We all know people keep seeing something that is real and physical in nature (whatever other qualities they may possess, they have a physical form), and we know this has been the case since the most ancient times. The Epic of Gilgamesh, the oldest known work of literature, has an important character named Enkidu who is a 'wild man', covered in hair, and we know the first human beings in this country have a spoken tradition going back much further in time, before the written word existed, and that this tradition features the Hairy Folk.

I suppose what I'm saying is that our similarities are what unite us, and everything we may disagree upon is a matter of opinion. None of us can prove ourselves correct or anyone else incorrect.

I don't mean to sound confrontational either, I just find it impossible to assume anything that I cannot reasonably conclude based on the available eyewitness testimony and the available evidence (footprints, sound recordings, ancient traditions, images, etc). That's just my world view, however, and I'm not saying I am 100% correct.

There's a lot more going on with the Yowie than we presently understand, that much seems clear. I'm just not prepared to assume anything, that's all.

WATCH: Researcher captures elusive Yowie on camera
HE WAS filming a large flock of cockatoos but ended up capturing on camera the Ipswich Yowie.

That is the claim of dedicated Tivoli-based yowie researcher Paul McLeod after releasing footage of what he has called
"one upright, very tall figure moving tree branches around, possibly feeding".
The figure also appears to be hairy, as is the case with most yowies.
"I'm fairly certain I captured the Ipswich Yowie on film," a jubilant Mr McLeod said on the Yowiehunters Forum.
Mr McLeod posted his findings and video on the Yowiehunters Forum under his own name and on You Tube, under the monikor of 'Global Monster', where he explained how on Wednesday, February 1 just before dusk he was filming the cockatoos when he "just happened to pan into the scrub".
"I noticed movement in the scrub some 400m away via the zoom lens.
I stopped filming and re-adjusted the focus onto the area and filmed," he wrote.
"The distance (along with no tripod) made the zoom very shaky but I reckon I got at least one upright, very tall figure moving tree branches around, possibly feeding."

The QT has viewed the footage and while it is not definitive, we could go along with the commenters on Mr McLeod's video and agree it is "interesting stuff".

Leading Australian yowie researcher Dean Harrison has previously told the QT that Ipswich is noted by experts as a "yowie hot spot".
That is why the city has been a magnet for yowie researchers.

Mr McLeod is one of them and has been based in a caravan in Tivoli for the last month where he is attempting to unveil more about
the movements of the elusive, apelike mystery beast.

"I moved to Tivoli near Ipswich...based on two years research tracking yowie sightings and looking for a migration pattern,
based on seasonal food availability and other possible contributors," he said.

Mr McLeod has been asked by others exactly where the yowie was located. His answers suggest he is keeping his
cards close to his chest, but are suggestive of a Tivoli location. (actually it's well known).

"Nice one," the contributor writes.

"This will be the year of loads of sightings. I can feel it."

The Mulgowie Yowie is the most famous local yowie, and according to the local cook who last saw the
creature also has a bald bottom like a baboon.

But that is not to disparage or steal the thunder of the yowies sighted at Flinders View,
Redbank and in the Rosewood area.

The QT is sad to say that the Flinders View yowie is most likely deceased, having last been sighted in 1992.
But if Mr McLeod is on the money the Ipswich Yowie is very much alive.

Wow! What an amazing and interesting thread! I've just spent over an hour going through it and there are some amazing images here representing the various hairy folk from here and other lands. I'll be honest: some of them had the hair standing up on my neck, they are just terrifying. If faced with some of these characters, I have zero doubts I'd be either paralysed with terror or hightailing it out of there in triple quick time.

Also interesting to see some of the 'classic' photos of the crypto world resurfacing, good to see (the ones we've all been talking about for years). Hoax or not, it's very hard to tell in some instances. I would go so far as to say 90% of the images/video I've seen over the past decades is easily discredited. It's the other 10% that gives you doubts about fakery vs. reality, and of that 10%, I believe 7% are very clever hoaxes/fakes. So that leaves 3% that I cannot seem to put aside, so to me, you have to really wonder... and that's where good folks like you come in, to share thoughts and different aspects of each case, love it. In this age where there are Apps to help cell phone users manipulate photos, and everyone in the crypto world seems to have some knowledge of photo editing (or manipulation) because programmes are easily accessible, the lure of big money from monetised YouTube videos is (unsurprisingly) an attractive proposition.

Having said that, I'm excited for the future of cryptozoology! We have more tech at our fingertips than ever before, and the average person these days seems to take mobile phones everywhere with them, so hopefully, some non-blurry photos and video will eventually come to light.

Superb thread, and I really enjoyed the slight tangents, too. The things you miss when you don't visit the forums so much anymore, LOL. Think I better pop in more frequently!
