...to be totally honest... my interest in the Yowie Discussion Board has only just been very recently...a matter of the last few weeks... even though I've been a member of this website for over 2 years!... a friend of mine got me interested in this website originally because I mentioned that I'm interested in the unexplained... whether it was to do with crop circles/UFO's/bigfoot or what ever... anything that is unexplained and also intrigueing...

...I've mainly stuck to the AYR - UFO's and other interesting phenomenon discussion board because to be honest I was afraid that I would be completely out of my depth regarding discussions about all things Yowie due to the fact that most of you more "experienced" long term contributers seemed to all have a mutual full understanding of everything to do with Yowies etc......but then I saw new-comers joining and participating in the discussions and realised that you guys are a dedicated and patient group of people that are happy to share any information that was asked for by us "newbie Yowiers" and were not being treated as annoying dabblers...

...I've now come to realise that I was being a total nuff nuff regarding that stupid thought process...so please excuse my idiocy... I have now become deeply interested in this Forum and also the AYR - Thylacine and Big Cat Talk section... absorbing stuff...I can now see why all you guys and gals are so addicted to all things Yowies!!!!...lol!... I'm sorry that my reason for how I became interested in the Yowie is not as colourful as other peoples stories and may be a tad bit boring ...but that's how it happened ...lol!... cheers... Back in the early 70s I used to live in Leura on the Grose Valley side of the highway.

I remember as a 5 year old, someone walking past my bedroom one night and only noting much much later when one takes note of these things, that the window was at least 8 foot off the ground.

There wasn't much between our backyard (where the window was) and the valley at that time..

One day about 5 years later I was drawn to a book called "mysterious monsters" about Bigfoot, Loch Ness etc etc and from there it snowballed....

I don't take an active part in 'looking' for anything, but if I ever go for a drive to the country or if I am in the bush, I always have 1 eye peeled..

Hello and welcome Yosemite i started with ghosts i had seen a few things and had a few strange things happen to me and then found deans ayr site and never looked back, i have meet dean and can never get enough of listening to him! he is a man of infinite knowledge and have grown to respect a lot of people on here, I am trying to hard to get out at them moment would love to meet up with homebear in qld and go for a hunt but one wage coming in and a 2yo son and a morgage is holding me back ONE DAY :-)

I am one who would love to hear it as I'm sure many others would too!

I think this is what you're talking about.

First time I heard the one thats all growly & roaring I nearly soiled myself.

All I know is it was Indiana and in the woods from another local from what I have been told. To me it just sounds like wolf howls to me but my mate was saying to listen to it in real life it was deeper heavy base toned and very loud. I asked him if there is wolves there to which I got a fast "NO!" to, same with a bears question. Domestic dogs had also been going missing/or dead (can't quite remember to be honest). His area of Indiana is Syracuse.
I still have that part of my head saying "Well there could be a misfit wolf out of his area..." but my friend is so adamant on what he and his mother heard to be not animal.
There is no growls but a real howl with something more faintly behind/end of each howl.
I think I might upload it to a free host site and yank it when people give their two bobs worth since I don't know where it's from and I can't get hold of matey atm.

Thats the only site I know of with those sounds.. it could be this one too. They're the only two sites (that I know of) that have the sounds. About uploading the files, if you want to wait until Monday i'll host them on my webserver.

Oh that last link, yep I have gone though theirs! Ain't the samurai chatter nuts?!?! I was somewhere between bemused and shocked

as for the file, I will upload it on the free host, not because I don't appreciate the offer but for the reason being since I don't know where it came from, if anyone gets in c**p then it's me and not some other poor bugger!

Sounds very similar to what I heard but the Howl I heard was more drawn out. I think the best one or closest representation of what I heard is the 1994 Ohio Moaning howl From the BRFO site which is in the last link Alex posted.

So it could be a BF possibility the one from my mate? As I said not listening to any before it I was a bit "oh yeah but it could be this or that" I don't know! either way I would need a new pair of undies if that was going on behind my house!!

I must say I'm no expert on Bigfoot howls but it could be, anything’s a possibility. The howl your mate gave you sounded awfully close doesn’t sound like wolves to me sounded more powerful and like you say he swears there no wolves there anyway.

Sounds like a lot of howls i've heard in relation to bigfoot - but also reminds me of a wolf too much. The audio is too distorted. Anyone heard anyhing like this out bush?

It spreads like cabin fever at this time of the morning!

Channel 7 on a Saturday afternoon at 5pm used to have a show called great mysteries of the world. I first saw Bigfoot. I used to love them shows,my olds used to think i was strange,i never missed them and i used to tape them and watch them over and over.

I'm interested to know how you became interested on the Yowie

I know you have worked with Steve Erwin and said that you have worked with animals for 20 years can you give an indication on how you became interested on the Yowie.

Well I grew up in a hunting family,like camping at linville,condamine,st george,talwood,durrinbandi from the age of ever,Have seen and heard some out their things but most could be put down to a wandering emu,possum,roo or worst case sinareo pig..see before internet and vcr`s and ipods and mobiles we had bikes and guns and camping/shooting trips,and it was on such an adventure with a group of 8 friends,3 pig hunting dogs butch ,tych and occa we were stalked by somthing/s that pushed trees down,I could remember hearing the cracking of these trees and hearing them eeeeerrrrrr!!! and crash down in the undergrowth but we couldnt see anything!! A mate said PIG!!! so we let the dogs off and suee`d them and they flew straight out in front of us to wich the only went as far as the light of the fire then came back ALL SOOKY and peeing themselfs,As whatever it was beetween us and out bikes we stayed till mornings with loaded guns at the ready,see back then you didnt scare campers cause everyone had guns and you knew if you played around you risked getting shot by scaring someone to shoot into the bush unsbeknowings .At daybreak we decided to make a run for it as we left the campsite an all mighty smell and my nose said HEY!!! IT AINT NO PIG and its urine stank and then we came across split and clawed trees that were pushed over in each direction there were scratched trees with sap running out of them where they were de barked everywhere i looked for tracks and couldnt find any and thought ah!! koalas but reality bites when I was told koala`s stay up in trees and dont push them over and it would have to be the size of Humphry B Bear to push trees over,This all happened behind the turf farm at Wullkeraka Ipswich,Then some 20 years later while driving a school bus at Wamuran QLD the Kids on the bus screamed out there was a GORILLA MONKEY eating pineapples as I drove past a farm,quite a few kids seen it and drew pictures of it and showed me the next day where they seen it and i came back after work in my car to the spot where there where half eaten pinapples scattered about in a 10 meter area but there were no tracks except a huge tyre mark wich did look to be elongated with a heel and toe as the rows were wet from irrigation,I now own a 30 acre property just west of Dalby and to this date havnt seen anything as yet,Srange thing did appen though I was driving into town on the way to Surat and I know the road really well and thought it strange to see a car travelling the oppisite way the road led,It turned a full 90 degrees and headed bush then I watched it approach a road train then it went a dull yellow and was In front of me as quick as i blinked then dissapeared over the range the next day I had a flat battery totally dead as were the other 2 cars as was the neighbours so i cluched the ute and headed into town to fine the local mechanic run off his feet with flat batterys EVEYONE HAD FLAT BATERYS that happened in TARA QLD in JUNE 2008 so iv always wondred and thought .......what if?????

I have those similar interests as described by a lot of you, developed from documentaries and those 'unexplained' type shows, watched as a youth. Grew up in the Blue mtns, and still live there. As a kid, the bush was our playground but i never saw anything 'weird'. Reading some of the reports here has kindled an intrest mainly for the big cats, but i must admit, having done tablelands rd at night a few times...just for a look.
I have made a large cage trap with two opposite trap doors, closing simultaneously when bait is pulled. but sadly havent baited it for months. It is at a farm west of Lithgow, towards Mudgee. This was prompted since seeing a cleaned out roo carcas, very clean, yet the hide felt soft and fresh, which was laid out almost surgically around the roo.plus seeing large round cat ? printsabout 3 inches across.

i liked yowies ever since i found out about them
