I could get into the pixels on the Yowie face but its going to take hours. If people like the fanged yowie look sticker I will do it then.

These stickers are looking great. I would really like to see this one in the right size and maybe a deeper colour around the AYR so it stands out a little more(seeing it from a distance)...see what you can come up with strange1.Strange1 wrote:This is my first attempt....

Re: Fifth round competition......
...before this competition took off... I was doing an artwork on what I think a Yowie
looks like and was going to post it in my Artwork Critique Gallery section
... it's not finished yet... I'm hoping that it won't take much longer to complete... I've decided that I'm going to use it... (or part of it)... as part of my attempt at the sticker... I didn't really want to use an image that is already in use... so lets see how it all pans out... I'm dying to finish this little project so that I can get stuck into the Avatar's section...( boy I've got a few ideas on that... believe me)!
... anyhow... back to the Yowie... cheers... Stickyfingers.

Re: Fifth round competition......
... well... after doing a lot of work in completing a digital painting of what I think a Yowie looks like... I've decided to use it on one of my versions of an AYR sticker... (I have other versions... I might post them eventually... but this if my favourite version so far...)... I hope that I've at least lived up to 50% of peoples expectations of faith in my artistic abilities... (I hate to disappoint people)...

...a detailed high definition image of the Yowie is posted in my "Artwork Critique Gallery" post if you want to see it close up... anyway... I hope you like it... cheers... Stickyfingers.

Re: Fifth round competition......
...Seeker my good friend... thanks very much for the great words... I appreciate them... to answer your question regarding using my yowie picture... I have absolutely no problem with anybody using it for any work whatsoever... as long as it is used WITHIN the AYR Website!... if anybody decides to publish it or use it for anything OUTSIDE of the AYR Website... I will not be too happy about it!...Seeker wrote:Hey Sticky, That's great. I really love your Yowie painting. So much so it has inspired me to try and create my own design for a sticker. I hope you don't mindbut I played around with your painting and have used it in my own design. If I win a prize - you can have it. You did all the hard work here mate!
![]()
As far as living up to 50% of peoples expectations in your artistic abilities, I don't think you have to worry about that - this work of your is off the scale and I don't think anyone could fault it if they try. I am pretty hard to impress, but with this painting you have blown me away. Kudos to you my friend!I can't say enough good about it!
...people can use it to make their versions of the sticker for the competition or use it for anything else within this website...(Avatars section for instance)... no problem!... that's the reason that I posted such a massive High Resolution image within my "Artwork Critique Gallery" thread so that others within here can use it...
...a few weeks ago ... I went to "Google Images" ...and typed... "Yowie" ... and waited to see what images there were to see what others ideas were of what a Yowie looked like... basically... there was nothing much at all... hence the reason to decide to do my own version of what I think that a Yowie looks like... as I explained on my Artwork thread...
...as a matter of fact... your version is great!... I like the way that you have put him in part shade... and part light... good effect!... if you do win the prize... it's yours my friend... you would have earned it... not because of my Yowie... but because of the concept and visual result... so as I say... the prize would be yours... good luck my friend!...anyway mate... I'm glad that you liked it......well... after spending the last 3 or 4 weeks teaching myself how to paint and draw with a programme called "Corel Paint" ... I've finally finished phase one of of my first full attempt at using it... the result is something that I have been working on during a... "learn-as-I-go" ... exercise in learning this programme... I had decided as my first subject that I would do a digital painting of what I think a Yowie looks like based upon Pixie's most beautiful sketch of a Yowie posted earlier within the AYR Forums...
...in fact ... the similarities are basically exactly the same... when I first ever saw Pixies sketch... to me... she had captured it's spirit and soul within the sketch... the pure essence of this remarkable creature... that's why... as a tribute to Pixies brilliant piece of artwork... I used it's concept as the basis of my painting... (I hope that you don't mind sweet Pixie)...
... Lasso... sweet... sweet Lasso... thankyou for your kind words too... I will put up a couple of other versions too... but they need to be tweaked a tad until I'm happy with them... you know what I'm like... the fusspot that I am eh?...

Wow... Sticky
There's nothing like originality and your impression of what a Yowie looks like is fantastic. I like what you have done in the back ground with the marks in the gum tree too.
You definitely have artistic ability my friend...well done

Re: Fifth round competition......
Nice work there Sticky,
I noticed from the original yowie picture I saw of yours last week at work...... work buddy
the yowie looks different somehow.
.....and I don't mean the green one.....
I noticed you put an extra tooth in there and the hair all over is better, but there is something still different from what I saw
that I can't remember...... then again, you hadn't even drawn down to its chest at that stage.
It looks awesome on the hi-res. copy.

...by the way Trev... somebody at work told me that you have taught yourself how to spraypaint and that some of your artwork is pretty neat stuff... (I'm not going to tell you who told me ... so don't ask)!... so how about posting your work in the "Artwork Critique Gallery" with some of your work mate???...
... yeah the Hi Res version really shows just how many times that I used the digital pen to achieve the fur look... I'm estimating about 3000 strokes of the pen at least... because to do one square inch on the screen ... it took me about 50 strokes of the pen just to fill that section in... and then I had to add depth to it... and then light and dark colouring with the spraypaint part... blah blah blah... anyhow... moving on... here is my latest sticker entry...

...I stuck to the more "Traditional" concept of the AYR website regarding the colouring... anyhow... I have a couple of others that I'm working on at the moment... so I suppose I better get back to them... cheers... Stickyfingers.

...thanks Iwanna... I like the "dark and moody" one myself... although I'm going to do a lighter version of it and tweak it a tad...
...
...sweet Lasso... tonight I'm in the process of tweaking that image too... maybe I'll post another version of it at a later time... um... for no other reason whatsoever other than the fact that I'm a total idiot and like to prove it to people... I thought that I'd post ... um... er... THIS version!!!... (I was in one of my silly moods)...

...lol YL1... if it ends up looking EXACTLY like him... do I get all copyright on him and end up being his manager???...lol!Nice Yowie Sticky

Hey Sticky.
Your Yowie looks awesome man and I'm sure it's going to be around for a long time.
I really like the dark and moody version. I'd hate to see what he looks like with big fangs and red glowing eyes.
Well done mate.

Re: Fifth round competition......
...cheers mate... I had a lot of fun doing it up to that stage of it's creation... I'm now in the process of continueing the painting until it's a full length image of his whole body... I'm not sure that EVERYBODY would agree with my version of it's appearence and it's body mass and facial features but I intend to do different versions of him in different poses and angles and changeing his face etc on a continueing basis...iwanttobelieve wrote:Hey Sticky.

...I'm guessing that it's going to take me about a year or so to do to complete the series of probably 4 or 5 paintings... (in between other stuff I'm doing off this site)...so I'm open for suggestions on what peoples ideas are of what they think a Yowie looks like... if anybody wishes to post their ideas in my... "Artwork Critique Gallery" thread I would welcome any comments and use some of them within the artworks...
...a good friend of mine within these forums begged me in a PM when I was at the halfway stage to...
...I tended to agree... I had already painted the eyes when I recieved my good friend's advice...he was right... they were looking... "monkeyish" ... so I basically redid them from scratch...I then tried to paint human eyes with an animal quality within them... so it was a lot of chop and change until I got what I think is about the right blend... **Sticky publicly thanks that friend for his very wise advice** ... (he knows who he is... if he wishes to tell everyone who he is... I'm sure that he will reveal his identity..."please please please just stay away from monkey eyes...its more than that. I think people using monkey eyes will not catch the yowie enigma at all"...
...so as you can see... suggestions do go a long way... why am I bothering to do these paintings???... well... just out of pure curiosity I went onto Google Image search about three weeks ago and typed in the word... "Yowie" ... and went through about 50 pages and found squat diddley... so I said to myself... **"SELF'!... I'm going to paint myself a Yowie!!!!** ... and what you now see is the result... anyhow my friend... thanks for the kind words... cheers... Stickyfingers.
