Buxton?

Why does that name ring a bell. Where abouts is Buxton exactly Dawn?

Regards

Folcrom.

PS. Note: The road into the Bunyip State Park from Gembrook (Tonimbuck Road?) has some nasty corrigation problems. Any 2wd drivers aught to be careful along it. Apart from that no problems.

Where the hell is Buxton? LOL. I'm assuming that you guys are going to be investigating Hans sighting near Stevensons Falls in Marysville...right?

If thats the case, and I havn't got my wires crossed, Buxton is on the Maroondah Highway past the First Marysville turnoff on the otherside of Narbathon.

Marysville can all so be reached via a turnoff just before the Bucky Pub(motor cycle on roof), opposite the milkbar.

Duelling banjos huh?

Sounds like those envious Alaskans having a go at our beloved Garden State again......

You guys just remember that they not only serve BEER at the Bucky Pub but they can spell it too, which is a big improvement on the XXXX served in certain states I could name...... :D

Have a good time everyone anyhow; I'm busy that weekend but put my name down for next time.

Met with the Fluff, her hubby Chris and Stainmaster (Matty). Very impressed with Dawns holiday house which resembled more of a full time luxury 2 story inside.

Myself and Mat spend the entire afternoon in the forest, pushing our way through the rough foliage. Found a dead black cat on a walking track and something that resembled a grave in forest.

No signs of Yowie activity, but hard to find prints due to the fertile ground springing back after stepped on.

It was worth the hike and Mat is a great guy with the good attribute of being a deep thinker on all spectrums of life. Refreshing change and great conversation.

Dean I scurried down to the Maysville Tourist Center this morning to find a map of the walking and 4-wheel tracks of the area, and as luck would have it, it was shut! DOH! We did find a map of the area so I'll make Chris fix the scanner and send it off to you and Matty. You stumped me wanting to know about creeks LOL! I have my gaze firmly fixed on mountainous areas and have never even thought about creek location!

Looking over the map has jogged my memory, so when I zap you the map, I'll point out a few'murky, leechie-type places' that might be of interest.

What was a dead cat doing on the path? They usually crawl off and hide when there sick.

Enjoyed meeting you in person Saturday!

yeap the cat was in the middle of the path, and yes it was a great walk into the bush i will post the the 2 photos of the black cat and the grave like thing we found in the middle of no mans land.
And sorry dawn for not making to your place i was running late due to the one and only reason of getting out of bed late then leaving my wallet at home and having to turn around and going to get it so i could get fuel. But would still love to come up and visit one day soon even just for a chat.
And thanks dean i really enjoyed the walk and getting to know you. It was lucky that nothing was in that bush as i think i would have not been running anywhere :-( that was hard going for someone who has not done any hard walking like that in years :-) id better start doing more exercise i think.
Hoping to to do more work with you guys and meeting up with more of you.

I was wondering what happened to the 8 o'clock start guys LOL! One of us was up at 6:30!!! LOL!

I had intended to go for a wander down the Oxley walking Track yesterday, but hubby dropped a log on his bare foot Sunday morning and is now limping around moaning! What a sook, I broke my finger in 2 places and set it myself, bandaged it against the next finger and got on with it. Men are such babys!

What struck me strange about the cat was the fact that there were no missing bones or sign of attack. Both back legs were in tact. It had been there for a while because the skin had deteriorated to a grey slime. Very strange that it was on a walking track. The fur was black, but what would have killed it without eating a portion of the body? I would imagine it wouldn't be easy to catch it in the first instance because cats would normally take flight up a tree if pursued.

Dean its possible that it took a bait, they have been known to poison animals concidered to be pests. I know be cause Mallorys little shitzu nearly died from eating one! Its strange that it didn't crawl off and hide before it died, cats tend to hole up when their sick or hurt. Something may have dragged it out there and then smelt poison on it?

I agree with you Dawn, I would think it more than likely took a bait then died on the way to where ever it was intending to hole down. Any other animals sniffing its body probably smelt the poison and decided not to eat it.

LOL i just need to point out that my words to dean when he suggested that he was going to dig into the mound was if a bloddy hand falls out im out of there.
The dirt moound was weird as there was no signs of dirt on any of the ferns around. It was like someone dumped a pile of dirt straight down on top of the area.
Still would love to know what animal builds a fresh mound and it was fairly fresh as the bits of plant in it was still green and not get dirt any where else? Hmmm you have to wonder i still think bird but how it did it is a mystery

Maybe lyrebird the night before and heavy dew washed dirt off bracken? :?

I know its a bit of a backwater, but buried body-parts? The caring serial killer tends to eat or burn them these days, or keep them in a barrel, have to take care of the enviroment you know!

Yep looks distinctly like Lyrebird to me. First time I saw these cleared, cultivated patches about a metre in diameter around Neerim South I thought someone had some crazy idea of digging mini garden beds in the middle of the forest. It wasnt till someone told me they were Lyrebird display mounds that I started looking for, and finding, the discarded feathers nearby.
That's my theory, anyhow.
Unless someones been burying bits of broken fingers in there.........

Thanks for that info. We did see some lyrebirds while there and I guess it does make sense.

What are your thoughts on the Cat Plesiosaurus?
