Re: Rochedale Area

I thought I would tag onto the end of this thread since I live in Sheldon which is sort of between Mt Cotton and Rochedale. I have some questions more than anything else.
Anyway, last week I was walking home from work and I heard a tree break in the bush near a creek that flows under the road . It was a very sharp sound and quite loud like a deliberate action. It didn't sound like a huge tree (or branch), possible a size that I could almost break myself but it was lound enough to reverberate in the stillness. It was just after sunset and drizzling a bit. As I walked along the road closer to the sound, something moved very quickly though the bush and made a bit of a racket crashing through the undergrowth. I saw a dark shape low to the ground probably on all fours but couldn't make out anything else because it was too dark under the canopy of trees. I stopped for a minute but didn't see anything else so started walking again. There may have been another one there as well because as I walked a few more steps I heard so more crashing of something escaping in a different direction to the first sound. I didn't see anything from the second noise. There are heaps of wallabies in the area but it didn't sound like the thumping of wallabies feet more like a scrabbling crashing sound. I was thinking more along the lines of a black dog but i thought it was a bit quick and too noisy for a dog.
So can anyone suggest what this animal could have been? Medium size, black or dark colour, fast and breaks trees? I had a look a few days later for tree breaks but couldn't see anything definitive. Although I guess it could have been anything I thought I would share.
