Yowie bait, yeah , having them move around you , and when you know exactly what it is , it becomes very unerving . I don't know what a cranky yowie might do , but I'm guessing you'd have a fare idea .

Thanks Dion , after all this time i still believe that they are relict hominoids BUT , as you know there is something very unusual going on with them . It was never my imagination and I didn't halucinate anything , I know what I've seen and can only guess why it happens .
Their time was over millions of years ago so how did they manage to survive when most everything else is dead ?
That's the question I'd like an answer to .

Your thoughts also echo my sentiments, Rusty. It's quite unfortunate that common sense seems to break down when applied to aspects of the Yowie enigma.

Hey Russ

Your dedication in the pursuit for the answers out in the field is unrivalled. I have the utmost respect for how you have gone about it.

There are many questions that I still wish I had, the reason I asked those questions previously is that I was hoping after all those years of expeditions and experiments you may have had a slight theory on what they are, relic hominid is fine I have no problem with that but it doesnt explain the unusual circumstances attributed to them which is downright weird, a creature that seems almost stuck in time itself.

I'm not sure we will ever know.

Hi Rusty2,
It seems that you and AustralopithicineOz have both decided to wind down your field research activities in the quest for positive proof of the Yowies existence. No doubt that both of you have made great discoveries along the way but the biggest objective to have elluded you is a picture or video or physical sample so that you have something concrete to work on. Obviously you approach the field research from a more scientific viewpoint which I believe will never be successful. There is a lesson to be had to others operating along the same line and that is if you and AustralopithecineOz both very experienced researchers have been unsatisfied with your results then there is very little chance of anyone else succeeding.

There are other alternatives for pursuit of the Yowie and that is the paranormal approach.
Themanfromglad(sadly we don't hear much from these days) has made some very interesting discoveries along these lines. But I can understand the paranormal aspect is a bridge to far for some. :(

Hey Didge , nice to hear from you again after so long . Hope your well !
Are you still chasing them ?

Hey Senses , although I've seen them doing paranormal stuff for myself (TWICE) , I won't be pursuing it and have basically had enough of the whole thing . I'm not bitter but I know when to quit .
There are a couple of things I'd like to re-visit though . An area where I captured lights eminating from around a granite outcroping . A rock stack which I'd like to check with a trifield natural emf meter , someone seems to think it may be emitting an emf . And a little long distance surveillence .

Excellent picture rusty I remember seeing these along a walking track in the Blue Mountains at night with a few other people when on a small expedition.

Not as bright as that one but beautiful none the less. Thanks for sharing.

Well that really suprises me as you would think they would have all sorts of applications dreamed up for a glowing plant. Id bet they ( the plants!) are doing something useful for thier ecosystem. They sure are pretty!

YB , scientists still don't know why they glow.
Not quite :)

They exhibit typical bioluminescent properties, with the definition of bioluminescence being “emission of light from living organisms, without appreciable heat.” On a chemical level, a pigment called luciferin undergoes a chemical reaction, generally triggered by an enzyme, that emits light. This chemical reaction that occurs inside the organism, manifests itself in an eerie greenish glow, hence the name given to the family of fungi that have this ability - Ghost Fungi. :)

Other cool organisms that do this, include:

Crystal Jelly (Aequorea victoria)
Image

Fireflies

Cardinal fish (deep abyss dwellers)

Anglerfish (also abyss dwellers, who have long 'lures' that glow on the end of stalks, to lure smaller fish close enough to be eaten)

Squid and Cuttlefish

Regular single celled bioluminescent organisms that turn the wakes of boats and the tidal surf zone of beaches into a glowing wonderland
