No worries, YB - I'm not going to take anything personally mate. We're all here to discuss stuff that most people consider myth or fantasy, so we need to be able to make allowances for everyone's take on it. If I've made anyone feel bad with my 'Occam's razor' stuff it wasn't intentional.

There's certainly more going on than we understand, I agree. I just dislike making assumptions unless I can back them up. It's true that the presence of ancient stories regarding these creatures is valuable as evidence, but it's also difficult to know which parts are fact and which parts are pure legend.

I have no doubt that these things exist, none at all. I have no knowledge about their true nature. Some people may have some knowledge that I don't possess, but it's not able to be presented in a format that allows it to be subjected to scientific scrutiny. If knowledge is not communicable then that makes it difficult to prove or even understand.

I don't doubt Wellymon's sincerity, I am just not sure that what he's experiencing is able to be verified. So often these encounters have a 'you had to be there' quality to them, and I think this is part of the issue with their believability. If these things can do stuff which confounds our current understanding of science then it makes them uniquely difficult to study.

Once you add even the tiniest hint of the paranormal into a topic, 95% of people are going to tune out right away; it's just the society we live in. Others will dismiss it on religious grounds and so on. Most people will openly laugh about any suggestion of the supernatural.

I'm not laughing at anyone though, I'm just saying that I can't accept anything that cannot be verified. I cannot believe in creatures that can change physical form, for example. It's not something I can accept, but I can accept that others believe it. I'm not religious, but I accept that some people are and I'm not about to mock them for it. I know lots of intelligent people who are religious, so there must be something to it even if I think it's all untrue. Some people would laugh at me for posting on this forum, so who am I to judge?

As long as we can all discuss this stuff, that's the main thing.

Hi Simon. Just to clear things up mate, i was agreeing with what you said about having an encounter which is why i qouted your post. I should have made a seperate post to talk about the other stuff. Not offended by you or anyone else and enjoy reading everyones posts.

I will say that its not just the " supernatural" lore. Just imagine the info we would have if we had documented the yowie from day one and listened to the elders and sightings etc.

What interests me is just how many types there are. We have reports on grey, tan, black, brown and even white haired yowies. We know of the differeing regional names but are they all just names or different types altogether?Theres the smaller kuritjah, junjudee, junjarri and various types of the bigger yowies mentioned in Aboriginal literature .

We cant be 100 % sure if the smaller are juveniles or adults or what. The Quinkin was said to be "as big as a tree, , like 20 ft or something. Im not sure what size tree they were as big as, so lets just say for now that thats an exaggeration and the Quinkin was only 10 ft tall. Thats still pretty bloody tall and theres modern reports of yowies being larger than that.

Not a very scientific example i know but what im trying to say is its not all supernatural bedtime stories to make kids behave or whatever. We know they exist at least and that alone is an amazing thing. Sorry if im raving, Its been a very hot day out there!!

I dunno...I just think there's so much we can't possibly speculate upon without more solid info. There's too much we can't explain. The more we discuss it, though, and the more people go out looking, the better.

I'm just pleased we have this resource to draw upon - it's one of the most interesting forums I've ever seen. I don't think I've been as impressed by any other online forum in quite the same way.

And yes, Searcher, I think we're all saying the same thing; we just have different vocabularies. I have no context for any of this, so it's all an exercise in thought for me, which is a disadvantage I guess. I have no doubt that these things exist, however.

Yeah Simon . Who knows? Maybe they were that big. I find Megafauna is just as interesting as the yowie. Maybe as its more recent than the dinosaurs.

I agree the hairy men may have some mind tampering , psychic or even telekinetic abilities in fact im almost sure of it . Theres a few mentions of memory loss of events leading up to an encounter and other strange mind tampering mentioned by encountees including some researchers here on the forum.

Some believe the hairys can talk and have given up on the research in hope of communicating with the yowie. Sounds odd but these people must have some reason to believe these things.

A book on the yowie or sasquatch written by an indigenous person would be a treat but i doubt it would happen . The fact that they are sacred to some and not to be talked about by others due to impending bad luck would probably prevent that happening although theres a lot of witness reports by Aboriginal people in the Australian yowie book

The yowie affects us all in different ways. Some want to research them or meet them or even just see one. Im convinced most of these lurkers are hunters looking for info and locations to try and hunt and kill one.

Only a year and half ago i hated yowies.Although I could see the humour in what happened to my freind and i , i wanted nothing to do with them. Researchers like therusty222 ; Ray and some members of the forum helped change my point of view.

I think encounters are important as well. Someone said to me recently that they wondered why certain people see these things and others dont. An investigation on witnesses, including blood samples, family history, dna,psychological make up, other paranormal experiences etc could bring in some very interesting results whether its considered circumstantial evidence or not.

As far as research goes, well i think there is some evidence out there with the Australian Ape/yowie project, therusty222, Brindabella yowie research etc

I think the running dark figure on Rustys website is impressive as are the photos on Rays Australian Ape Project site among others.

Really how do you research a being that officially doesnt exist and you have no reference photos or information other than the " circumstantial " evidence of winesses.

Scientists screw the researchers around any chance they get with possible dna samples or potential evidence. Its no wonder researchers have learnt to do their own fingerprinting and dna testing to avoid consulting them.

Video evidence will still have to be proved. Real or fake, once its on youtube its brain food for the hopeful ( myself included!) to scrutinize and decide what it is. Most are ill informed or skeptical and others just want to see what they look like so will believe anything.. and there is some real c**p on there as we all know! It will obviously take a lot more than just obtaining the video footage.

Some of our Aussie researchers are pioneers in my opinion while others are just running around in camo and desperate to be the first to " discover" these reclusive "apes".

I think its going to take some out of the box, radical thinking plus some serious down to earth research,planning and open communication before anyone will get anywhere near revealing and explaining the yowie to the very distracted and skeptical public.

Clearly, you're upset - but nobody singled you out or targeted you. Nobody has been abusive or insulting.

I've been open about the fact that I have never seen a Yowie, and that I have never had anything that could be described as a paranormal experience. I'm an armchair expert because I have various responsibilities that don't make spending time out in the wilderness a realistic use of my time. I care for someone 24/7 and am on the computer when they're asleep, so field research isn't an option for me. You weren't to know that, of course, but it's not the case that I rely on Google (I use Bing) as I have been reading about this topic since childhood, and have always had an interest in cryptozoology. I'm not really athletic or sporty, so I'm inclined to read a lot...but not necessarily online.

Speaking only for myself, I have stated that I cannot possibly know what another person experienced - because it's often the case that experience is subjective. I cannot know how someone felt at the time they saw or heard whatever it is they saw or heard, for example. If you say you've seen Yowies change form and become birds, then I'm not going to say that's impossible because I haven't seen it. There's a lot of stuff I haven't seen that's still possible. I'm also not going to accept it on face value, though, any more than I accept anything else on face value (such as election promises from politicians, or advertising, or the opinions of journalists, etc).

But it's only common sense that people are going to expect some form of corroboration if you claim to have seen these creatures frequently. If you choose not to share whatever evidence you have, then that's your decision to make. It makes me wonder why you've mentioned it at all if you were not prepared to show it to anyone, though.

Your latest post, in which you are clearly upset, doesn't make the situation any clearer, I'm afraid. All I can ascertain from it is that you're upset and feel that people were attacking you. I don't think that was the case.

People can speak their minds here, but you cannot expect to make such unique claims and not have people comment on them - everyone can speak their mind, just as you can.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof, and you say you've got proof but won't release it because it's sacred. Surely you can see why people might begin to ask you why that's the case?

I have been wondering when we would turn the corner so to speak in the forum, You can all stand up and take a bow please.

It wouldn't hurt to update the website and include more of the true historical significance.
I read letters
from and speak to many Australians with wonderful gifts of knowledge and bush wisdom to share but they are often put off by curtain elements of the site, being that the GI-Joe areas suffer from an extreme lack integrity, and I explain continuously that those reports are just that, reports , they are reports of the [time] and that the invading disrespectful approaches are long since 'put away'
and in no way do they reflect on the mindset of the Australian yowie research team, but until things are changed in there I'm afraid my words are just my words.

It's important for the interested public to know and something the team here know only too well is that if your here to learn about the yowie, you don't need to have a four-wheel drive, or fancy equipment, your not going to see [one] because you went out and bought army greens and doovy-whacka's (not a real word), If you want to learn about the Australian yowie then your going to have to open up your eyes and look at the things that have been right under our noses the whole time.
The land! the people! the first people they are all
still here today, the streams the rivers the trees the wildlife.
the yowie has the knowledge of all of this, they are part of all this.
The yowie are part of the 'first people' they know our traditional landowners very well and our traditional landowners know them, no dramas about it.
to know about the Australian yowie is as simple as knowing the true history of this fantastic country....
study the landscape and vegetation that you see, the shape of the mountains the winding at the rivers, remember these things are the things the yowie see, this is
all part of the habitat that these 'first people' need to survive and have managed to survive [in] for thousands of years long before us, the yowie and the like are all masters of their domain because of that.
If people are asking "what can they do to help ?"
you could suggest that if they feel to do something to help,
then a great place to start is to find out what vegetation, native fruits and other bush tucker plants and grasses and ferns that once grew
in your local areas and put them back some how, maybe just in your back yard or join a land care group once a month, simple things like these can teach you a lot.

She said what we are witnessing, many others sell up and move out. Because of their lack of grasping what is real.
I'm splitting up and moving on, leaving what I have created in this bush, an amazing home with amazing energy.
I grasped and understand what is going on here, thats fine.

I agree that there's more going on with these creatures than science can presently explain, and I wouldn't discount anyone's experiences. I think people experience things in different ways, and our perceptions (as I've said elsewhere on this forum) may be as unique as our fingerprints.

I know iv been out bush plenty of times now--with extremely angry ones--and i havnt been physically attacked--theres been many of opportunities for them.

Others on the forum have always said if they have got or one day will get proof they wouldnt show anyone, so why doubt the people that say they have evidence?

I could be mistaken, but I've never heard or read anything where he's said that. I can understand why a person wouldn't want to publicly reveal any recordings/video they might have, though. I know I wouldn't be inclined to do that.

I think a big issue here is that a lot of these reports are just that 'reports'.
They are first, second and sometimes third hand information about a topic that has not yet been proven so to speak. Having an experience and then trying convince others of it is going to be a hit and miss affair.

For every report I read on AYR - be it on the audio or written text, I have to take it for what it is. I don't know these folks - are they legit or having a lend? I have to put some trust into the moderators of this forum and go with the flow. It only starts to sound legit in my mind when constant factors keep reoccurring and patterns form.

Again - I state that on this forum we will gain more traction and results by supporting these stories and talking them out than just by smashing them as rubbish. Its good to challenge everything but also applying respect.

Wellymon - keep the reports coming. It seems that the majority want to hear your experiences and talk about them....and challenge them if necessary to get some better understanding.

99% of the time its nothing. They don't want to be ridiculed. They want to remain anonymous and just want to leave it here for others to explore and discuss. Thats the great equaliser for me.....

Back on topic: Rusty, have you considered using FLIR? Researchers in the US seem to have much better luck with that tech. It seems our hairy friends don't realise we can see them with it like they seem to do with regular cameras and infra red.

Hey Wolf , I do have a flir i5 , it works well but I haven't persisted at night with it . I still think daytime pictures and video would be more convincing to joe public .

I agree, but even with the best video there will still be sceptics. I reckon that if someone got detailed video of a Yowie's face that might be the clincher for many people. I know I'd be more convinced by seeing a lifelike face - which would be very hard to fake - than I currently am by the dozens and dozens of standard Sasquatch/Yowie videos where they're seen from the back walking away from the cameraman. There are tons of those. It could be the whole 'stalking humans at a 45 degree angle' factor that accounts for the numerous examples of this type of video, or the fact that they're often already in retreat when groups of humans are nearby and finally notice them, but I doubt I'll be truly convinced something is real until I see decent images of a Yowie's facial expressions in one of them.

pretty sure the tent video was debunked a while back. That footage was taken by the infamous Rick Dyer...
same guy that claimed that he shot that same creature on the film you posted then took the "body" on a sideshow tour of the US....until it all fell apart.

The entity is moving in the video but the youtuber has zoomed in and repeated over and over the few frames of its eyebrows furrowing slightly.

Dunno how anyone could fake this video. It obviously cannot be cgi because of the insect netting. If it is fake it could only be someone in make-up and costume. Haven't we had this discussion before in another thread?

The tent video is certainly interesting, and I hadn't seen it before, so thanks Wolf.

I'm still too naturally cautious to say it's real....but yeah, I think it's more interesting than most of the other stuff I've seen. It's intriguing, but still not impossible to fake. Could still be some kind of makeup or mask. I'm not sure, to be honest.
