Just wondering if anyone is interested in accompanying me on possible Yowie search / stake-out in the Blue Mountains throughout 2008. Nothing to serious is planned (at this stage) in terms of going to remote sites, just a basic affair around known hotspots. There are a variety of possible locations to go and areas of interest can be discussed. If anyone is interested I can be contacted at: [email protected]. CHEERS!

You'd probably be best to wait till it cools down. Less snakes and with rain tracks are easier to find. I'd also keep my eyes open for cat tracks depending on which part of the mountains you go to.

I am planning a dry season trip to the Litchfield national park area in May June here in the top end, any Northern Territorians interested, please post a response, there is some word of mouth evidence of activity on the fringes of the park, just returned today from an area, far too wet , even for the trusty hilux.

I'm interested in going on a 'fact finding mission'. Anywhere near the blue mountains region is ok with me. I would also like to go with somebody who has experience in this sort of thing. Somebody who knows what they are looking for, like tree bites, beds, twists or whatever? So yeah, if anyone is planning a day or a weekend, let me know. Trev.

sounds cool but ya need some good eqiupment , trip lines are easy to make , useing a cupple of pegs and , bits of plastic and some alarm so youll know if the yowie is near , night vision gear , but then the problem is can yowies really see the infrared , and then theres the best idea that no one seems to have yet is a long range e field body detector, unlike we humen beings the yowie being so big and enormous so its body e feilds would be greater than ours , now ive been exsperimenting with e feild detection but the best range i could get was 5 to 6 feet , but its not enougth as i want to push it to 20 feet , but the exsperiments worked ok on bread board ok but something happened which put me back further in perfecting it , due to a part burning out , when i biult the original printed circiut board version based on the seccessfull bread board tests , so the yowie wont see anything and it wont feel anything , it is the larger source of e feild so the idea is to detect it at the best possible distance.

what type /brand of alarm is used most frquently, obviously something that is sirens and flashing lights is out of the question, is there something that when triggered by cotton is a little more subtle?

battery operated strobe flashers would be best for keeping it away , its the britght light it aviods, if it can see infrared spot lights and aviods them then the best option , would be a carefully timmed infrared flash camera , to fast for it to react and by then the shutter speed and flash timed would get a good picture of it in the dark , but i know they used to sell infrared film for pocket cameras befor they phased out the pocket cameras but there was no word on if they ever developed an infrared flash camera , that would take fast pictures without haveing to rely on infrared spotlights which shine to long and may give the yowie to much time to react and aviod it if it dose

I'm still interested. I don't actually know what to look for or where I might find it, but at the very least, I'll get some exercise so yeah... count me in. (if I can get time off work?)
