Hello I'm new to this place & just thought I would ask something that has worry'd me for a while. Australia is in the middle of a horrible drouht "as we all know" and I'm worry'd that the Yowie might become extinct from lack of water

.
I know that eastern kangaroo's are plenty (for food full) but it's the water that's most important. :|

Hey Yowiejoe
You have made some valid points but as far as I know, Yowies are known to use creek and river beds as a kind of highway link to other areas, so would never venture to far from them, I am guessing this trait to use creek and river beds is easier than it sounds “for its survival it needs water”.
As for becoming extinct because of a lack of water I am sure our hairy friend has the endurance to go days without water and again would never venture to far from it, if they did it would probably have a natural instinct to find it again.
Who knows really!
But if the creeks and rivers dry up like your suggesting, I am not sure where they would get their water from.
I suppose they would have other means and sources.

Wow really I didn't know that
Could you Imagen if two grumpy males ran into each other along a creek

I hope they do have other way's of getting water, because the drought seems to just be getting worse

Maybe they crack open the odd cactus in their travels or have a means of tapping into underground water courses.
But what's stopping them moving onto greener pastures? Afterall, they're touted as being nomadic, and despite the 'drought', water still flows quite freely in many isolated places throughout this country. If our farmers can survive the drought, our yowies surely can!

i dont think it would happen look at roo's for an example b4 white man the pop was controlled by drought now with channels and dams and crops for them to eat in some area's there is a real need for population control so i think the same would apply to our friend man made dams and crops around there is plenty for them to survive, also there are plenty of reports around to show they are not afraid to come near farm houses at night to find a snack
