Gunalda Yowie, QLD

Hi,
I am located 30km west of Gunalda, about 50km NNW of Gympie.
After reading a few reports and then finding a report of a sighting at Gunalda a few years back, I am starting to wonder if it is a yowie making these strange "banging" noises at night.
My house is located in a valley, it is extremely quiet at night (except for insects) and surrounded by state forest.
While half asleep and the bush being in silence, I have been suddenly woken by a very large sound which echoes down the valley. The best way I can describe it is banging a shoe as hard as you can against concrete, or banging two rocks together with great force.
At first, I dismissed it as a distant gunshot since It was almost as loud and being half asleep I didn't take too much notice, I was just annoyed someone had interupted my sleep trying to shoot some wallaby for dog meat.
But at about 5 to 10 minute intervals, I heard the noises again, except they appeared to be coming from different locations each time. The distance from my bedroom window to the source of these noises would be 30metres to 150 metres. Last night, I counted 5 instances, the night before only one.
I am struggling to imagine what could make such a large noise that literally echoes down the valley. It is definately not a gunshot, but is short, sharp and sounds "natural" like two things being banged together.
Its just very annoying since I cannot work out what is making this sound, and its interupting my beauty sleep! First I have to put up with possums fighting all night, then screaching bats, now its bloody yowies!
can anyone shed some light on the matter?
