Seymour area

Hi all.

I recently spent a night at a friend's place in the mountains surrounding Seymour, just north of Melbourne. I was wondering if there is any history of yowie sightings in this area?

For any that are familiar with the area, they live smack bang in between Seymour and Broadford. Their property is in the mountains about 5km from the Hume Highway, and backs onto a large national park. The national park itself is surrounded by cleared land, which makes me think that it possible isn't a good area for yowies?

Their place is just a tin shack at the moment, they're hoping to start building a modular-type home in the next couple of months. The night I spent there I had to sleep outside in the hammock as they had other visitors occupying the other bed inside the shack. It was a brilliant experience, all the night noises were simply captivating - I'd never slept under the stars before.

Any info would be interesting to me.

Thanks in advance.

Have heard of some stories of strange night time howls and whoops in the Dropmore area, i don't know how close it is to you, this area is also known for some big cat sightings.
many many years ago, i spent 12 months doing field work with CSIRO, the researcher i worked with was convinced of big cat activity ( although that was not his " official position " ). the forest in the hills above Seymour is quite dense, at least it was 25 years ago.

Gday i live at Kimore not far from that, I have done a fair bit of shooting at the highland sjust out of seymour and havnt seen anything except foxes rabbits and roos but in saying that i work with an old timer who i trust with my life and he told me many years ago he was shooting rabbits at the highlands and saw a big black cat bounding across a field into the forest. Now this guy is what you called a trained observer as he was a british paratrooper and worked as a ambo and as a prison officer so he knows what he saw, in the army he spent time in africa and knows how a big cats bounds when it runs.
If you every hear of anything drop me a msg and im glad to attend as only 20mins away.
