Hi all,
Just got back from nth Pine Dam had a look at that area where the shadow was and there's no big trees behind that shadow...
so it wasn't a tree, I took my step son and 2 of his nutcase friends with me who think I'm the nutter, I think if I had a choice between a Yowie and the boys I'd choose the Yowie, they had mini sling shots with them and I wore a couple hits during our walk...not impressed, but anyway we were checking a new spot when we found a large foot print the boys were impressed by its size as it bigger than anyone's foot present and 1 of the boys a big lad in feet size as well, as well I occasionally would try to mimic a yowie/big foot call and we got a response but we thought it sounded a long way off but it freaked the boys out and put a smile on my face...lol so here are the pics of the foot print and this time I had the tape measure...about time!!!!

If you think you are on to something,Do a overnighter ,the water board has to catch you first. To me that would be a small price to pay to what you could get...Excitement with a capital E.
It wouldn,t be the first time for some on this board as every time you go bush and stay the night you are breaking the Law.....

I watched monster quest, the episodes where they went into lake country in Canada after a aggressive Sasquatch that had been terrorizing fisherman for 10+yrs, and they showed all kinds of ways to attract the BIG BOYS and tree knocking was 1, camp fires with lots of smoke and frying bacon, they use tree knocking to communicate as relations the silver back gorillas do, I tried 2 types of calls I had heard from USA, the whoop whoop whoop and high moaning call, the 2nd was more successful. When I got home I kicked myself not really for not trying tree knocking but all said I'm going back.. where foot print was, it came out of dense scrub and you could see where something large pushed its way through the grass + we found wallaby tracks at the same location and as I used to hunt the spore told me that it was being chased by something what was is your guess... 2 anonimust and forest guy we need to organise an look see trek in daylight first as it is our time before we galavant around in the dark like headless chooks

Nice prints, homerbear

Looks like you could be on to something

I would do a night trip and try wood knocking like stainmaster has suggested I wouldn’t bother trying to wood knock during the day I doubt you will get much response.

If you find any good prints try and do a plaster cast of them as a souvenir

I’d also look for any out of place broken twigs or branches during the day, also try and find any well worn tracks that the yowie might use. Try and pinpoint the area you think it might be hiding and do a stake out. By that I mean find a good area you think its using and sit and wait do this at dusk and into the early hours of the morning and be prepared he’ll most likely know you are there before you know he’s is.

Or you can do the opposite, camp out (making sure not to be caught by the water board) and cook up something with a high aroma. Sit back play a bit of guitar, make it all casual, while keeping your ears peeled for any noise, make him curios as to draw him near and limit the amount of people 2-3 at most.

Good luck.

Fantastic response from everyone, tree knocking, camp fires, sitting in his bedroom ummm might pass on that 1 for the moment, just think how would u respond 2 waking up and finding someone in your bed room... I'm not 2.5m tall, 240kg and use tree's for tooth picks, good way too piss him off....
Anyway enough of the let's not go negative stuff and just be lunatics and make a go it...
