I saw something weird..

This is weird. Where I live (Macleay Island), some people say there's a few small "hairy" men around. There's lots of aboriginal people where I live, and they swear black & blue that there's these little hairy men living among us in the bush & stuff. They're about 4ft tall, red eyes & long claws. I'm not the only one who's seen one either, several people I know have seen strange things around here. Hell, there was even a report of a Yowie a couple of years ago. Something big & hairy running through a park & swimming away. I didn't take any notice of it, because i'd been all around here not long before I heard about it.
(hey, I was about 14, and heard of bigfoot. I wanted to check the place out to see if I could see anything myself. didn't find anything though. :\)
Anyway, i'm not sure what to believe, but I think I saw one whilst walking home yesterday.
Coming back from the store, I was walking down the road, thick bush to the right of me. It was about 4pm, so there was lots of light left in the day. Basically.. I was just looking in the bush thinking how cool it would be if there were yowies on the island.. and saw.. something sprinting away from a fallen tree. I saw it clearly for about 3 seconds. Not sure what to make of it though. Could have been anything, hell, even a wallabym, or my mind filling in some blanks & giving me a quick dose of endorphins. But, wallabies don't run on two legs, and I don't think i'd be making myself hear branches crack too, and small tree's being moved aside. Ever seen a little kid run? You know how they look all un-coordinated & wave their arms lots? It was running like that. At first I thought it was a little kid. But, little kids aren't really hairy. I'd say it was either dark brown or black. Kinda skinny.
It was about 50m in the bush-line, i'd say. I considered running after it, but then it was gone. I don't think I did see anything, but, if you guys can come up with any explinations, feel free to give them, as i'm stumped.

Hey Alex, interesting post. Why don't you contact Wally who posts on here occasionally, he is the only person that I know who has had both personal and antidotal experiences with these little critters!

I've heard of these little ones on Macleay Is before .Go and walk the bush , if you have the time ! Try to find a part where not many people would normaly go to and leave behind some toys ! Old keys , a ball , anything that a child would find interesting , Nig & Jeannie have done this ! Go back at a later time and see if thgey are still there ! Don't hide them ! Leave them where they can be found !

Ok.. here's what I did.
Went to the beach (the beach is like 100m away from where the expanse of bush is where I saw said thing). I grabbed me some sand in a big-ass bucket. Put the sand down in a remote spot, away from where I thought there'd be no people around. I kinda, stole one of my cats toys (this little red ball thingy) & put it smack-bang in the centre of the patch of sand.
Now we play the waiting game.

The ball is gone. No tracks in the sand trap. I just read Wally's post about whistling. Will go for a whistle there tomorrow.

Alex, how heavy was the ball, I think you said it was a cat toy? Some birds will collect bright objects and its amazing what they can carry!
Posted: Tue Feb 22, 2005 8:15 pm
by Alex
Nah, I don't think a bird would have smoothed the sand over again afterwards
As I was walking to the location, I checked out to see if I could see tracks where people had been walking, and there was none.
This wasn't a bright object. It was a furry red ball, with feathers & stuff all over it.
Still stumped.

What would be nice if possible would be to get yourself a nice high power telescope or good binoculars and set up the toys again and find a nice high point and wait

but lets face it if they want you to see them again the will show them self?s to you i would imagine.
Just an after thought near where you saw the LHM try and communicate with your mind. Close your eyes and try and project a peaceful happy thought of friendship and fun. Just on the of chance it true what they say about these little guys :-) you never know, then let us know how it worked. As i don?t know if anyone has tried telepathy before so could be a great test.
You have nothing to loose as that might be why they play with kids. they say children can see things adults can not like ghosts etc.
thanks for the updates man good work Alex, its guys like you that keep me interested and keen to help and learn.
THANK YOU

mikka convinced me to go for a walkabout last night. I left around 11:30-ish, as I had to get smokes on the way. So i'm walking through where I had the sighting & whistling "freak on a leash", by Korn (hey, it was the first song that came to mind). I didn't see anything.. but I did however hear something rather strange, and felt something even more strange. What I heard was like.. children laughing. But alot deeper. I knew it wasn't a bird or anything, because it was coming from ground level, about 50m i think, into the scrub. I stopped & listened. I called out & it stopped. Then I felt it, like I was being scrutinized by someone. You know that feeling you get, your every move is being watched with great deliberation. I'm not saying for sure it was those things, the LHM. But, whatever it was, it was making a sound like children laughing, and then when I called out, I felt like I was being watched. I tried to see something & shone my torch in the general direction. All I saw was a possum. But, the possum wasn't bothered with me shining my torch on it. It was staring about.. oh, maybe 10 feet to it's left. Wouldn't stop looking in that direction. Funny thing, the self same direction where I first heard the sounds.
I got my behind into gear, got my smokes, and walked back through there. Didn't see, hear or feel anything.
Any ideas now? I'm gonna head out this afternoon. Maybe come up with something. Hopefully.
Now I know what it's like to be out in the field. I know it's not the same, as most of you guys are chasing big ape like creatures, not small hairy children-like creatures with ADD

. But yeah, it gets frustrating, doesn't it?

Sounds like fun, what sort of bike & roughly what time of year for your ride up here ? Never know - we might all get to go for a wander in the scrub.
Cheers

Well i have 3 bikes to choose from a 1100 katana a 650 katana and a 550 katana(needs to much work)
Don?t know what time of year yet? depends on a couple of things like if we get our pay rise and time off etc :-) will keep posted about it though, might even drive up not sure yet?
And Cass yeap i agree i didn?t word it like i should of, we as adults learn to block out things we don?t want to see or hear, I have seen a few dark shadows moving across the floor at night and had numerous things happen to me during my 13 years of night shift. So there is something out there :-) not sure i would call them ghosts or something we don?t know about yet? Could be a form of life we don?t know or the alter universe thing.
have talked to a few people in this field and they have different opinions on this but that?s another topic

Hey alex glad you made it back in one peice

.
Like the ideas mentioned
As Stainmaster and cass have said, Im sure that state of mind, what your mood and thinking have alot to play,
With any animal you interacting with from a pet to yowie.
Just head out with an open mind and dont expect anything to happen. Just go with the flow so to speak.
Also on other times you could go out with fun and games on your mind, see what happens.
If I can find some spare time in the future I might head on up your way and have a look round with you.
keep us updated

I went for a walk there about 5pm. Just whistling & making my way along slowly. To be honest, I had other things on my mind, didn't really think of the LHM much. Walking along, minding my own business, out of nowhere this stick hits the ground infront of me. About a foot long, half an inch thick maybe. Thing is, where I was, all there was, was long grass and those minature pine tree thingys. I turned around & saw.. a shadow? I don't know, but it was at the corner of my vision. I sat down & drew in the dirt, proclaiming that "Alex owns all"

. Anyway.. kept on my way, on the way to the beach. On the way back, the message i'd drawn was gone. The beach was about 10m away from where I was on the track. I didn't hear anyone walking, or anything. It's kinda gravelly too.
Tomorrow i'm gonna go there all day. Just wander around with my camera, taking pics. Will post them tomorrow night.

There's no questioning in my mind that it is within all people to see and feel ghosts and other entities...CASS..you are spot on with that statement, everyone has the ability to see spirits.all you need is the willingness and the desire and to open your mind completely but the thing is , once you have let yourself open up to see these spirits you can't take it back,it is a one way desision.if you dont like what you see and you change your mind you can't go back to not wanting to see them.i'm just talking about spirits now...

Been kinda busy lately kids, but, have some interesting news, and will post as soon as time permits.
Nothing ground breaking, but it shocked the hell out of me.

Good post Cass, your thoughts are similar to mine
Stuart, you make it sound like a curse. Spirits will go away if you want them to, you just have to tell them, even we need a bit of privacy now and then

i wouldnt say a curse, chewy, but it can be an unwanted "gift" when you have the ability to see spirits .you get to experience the "good" ones and the "Bad" ones and it is very hard if not impossible to shut them out.once you have let them in..."they" can tell if a person can see them and if a person can't,and when they know you can they have their fun ..some times good some times bad

Ok kids. Here's the scoop.
Past two or so days, been wandering around looking at things. I'm still waiting for some free web space to host the pics (they're rather big).. but i'll give you a low down on what they contain.
- A large tree (don't know what kind, probably a gum tree) with a large hollow at the bottom of it. inside contains a bed of moss & grass 'n stuff. I'd say it was maybe 1 & a half feet high by about 1 foot deep & about the same across. It looks as though it's used occasionally by something
- small trees snapped in weird places. like, a line of trees have been snapped, but, none of the other trees around it have been disturbed. they've all been snapped at about 2 feet. the thickness of the trunk would be about half an inch. if not a bit more
- at night, the whole place has a weird feeling about it. it's hard to explain, but, it's like, i feel as though i'm tresspassing on something i'm not supposed to.
- last night, I heard a growl. very low, like a small dog. i shone my torch in the direction of the growl, and saw eyeshine for about a second. it could have been a possum or something, but, i can't be sure.
that's all for now. will post whatever else i find tonight tomorrow morning.
oh, thanks dean for the info about local sightings, i've found a few people i can talk to. they seem relcutant to talk about 'something' they've seen around redland bay road, so, i'm going to keep going at it. point them in the direction of this site, or get them to contact you if that'd be ok. if they were going to spill, they'd want to talk to a professional, not some newbie researcher.
now, need a shower. i smell like a yowie.

Alex you are not a newbie researcher as you put it you are doing very well.
HAd a thought if you can get hold of them some glow sticks and activate them at night and make a small trail then go somewhere high and watch :-) you never know.
Also if you dont fell safe man you probally are not. listen to your gut instinct ok, maybe try an double up with someone instead of doing this on your own ok, AS would hate to hear something happened to you.
