hi seeker , that was quick . live outside townsville in nth qld , very dry area sparsely grassed and treed . semi rural properties around us . have two dogs and caged birds (cage is snakeproof) also have chooks and ducks in large pen devoid of all vegetation ( they eat everything) . missus is worried about dogs and one year old daughter being bitten when she starts walking. hope that is enough info .

thanks Seeker and Cass , i have heard citronella oil kept them away . my missus prefers the kill them method and gets rathered perturbed when i have persuaded the tree snakes and pythons to go and visit the neighbours . taipans and browns aren't that easy to convince to leave .
Seeker , one of the neighbours are veitnamese market gardeners and last years chilli crop is right next to our fence , and because of all the rain we had earlier this year they let it become overgrown , this is where i believe the sankes are coming from . no good talking to them they don't speak very much english , so we'll just have to get used to it
Cass i can hardly wait to see what you've done to me
