Holy Houseboats Batman!

Unread post by rodgey »

A UFO anecdote for you.

Last December my parents and I caught up with my uncle whom I haven't seen for about ten years.
He's a fisherman (approx 45 years) and during the conversation he spoke about a weird experience he'd had off the coast of Tully.
It was early in the morning. He said the water was very dark and something seemed strange about the day, the sky, something. It wasn't quite right.
He was putting his gear into the water (nets or pots, I don't remember). He noticed a boat a few hundred metres away, judging by the lights on it he assumed it was a houseboat in the process of turning away from him. In other words he thought he saw the back of it and one side.
He turned back to his gear for a few moments. When he turned back, the house boat was gone.

He looked all around, there was nothing there.

When I spoke to him I could tell he was a bit spooked by the whole thing. He's not the sort to make things up either. He didn't say it was a UFO , he just said it was a boat he definitely saw and then was gone.
I immediately thought of UFO's and their supposed connection to water and other similar stories came to mind.
I told him there might be UFO groups near to where he lives and he seemed interested, like he needed to talk to someone who had seen something similar.

Unfortunately my dad was more interested in talking about the size of crocs up there and so on and my parents kept changing the convo so I had to keep interrupting with "but back to what you were saying" and after a while it became too awkward to continue.

Oh, he assumed it was a houseboat because of the number of lights on it, it seems it had quite a few.

I also spoke to him briefly about cryptids, but I'll post that elsewhere.

Hey Rodgey, and welcome!

Great recollection there, thank you for sharing it with us. Tully is famous for its UFO activity, so I wouldn't be at all surprised if your uncle did see something of that persuasion. Good job you 'gently primed' him for the story!

Welcome to the forums, too, by the way!

Kind regards,
Shazz
