That is what the heading of the article read in the Local Paper.

ON March 24 at 1.20am,I was unable to sleep and was watching television in my lounge room.

My motion lights came on at the front of my house and I became aware of someone at the window near where I was sitting, and where the light does not reach.
My window was partly open and I heard a growling noise that could not have been uttered by a human.
I believe this prowler has recorded this Horrible growl from a scary film.
I was not brave enough to look out the window,but thought that people should be made aware of this Nocturnal Deviant............


That is the article word for word left out the name and the location well of all places French,s Forest . ....
Let you all know if we find any more out ....Not saying this is our hairy friend but why would one go to the extent to tape a sound on to a tape and play it back wouldn,t the person just sit and watch/perve..

Where abouts are these places? Have there been reports of activity here in the past?

My mother wrote that article to the paper.
Someone looked her name up on the internet and got her mobile phone number.

They chatted about Yowies for about an hour hence I did some research on them online and found this site.

So to clarify, this incident occoured in Petrie.

One thing she didn't mention in the article is that the "creature" stood there outside for about 3 minutes.

My mother described the sounds as that from the Predator in the movie Predator with Arnold Schwartzenegger.

They was meantioned of a tape recording of the creature. Is their any chance of posting up online ?

There was no tape recording.
She was trying to explain the incident by saying that perhaps it was a prowler with a tape player.

A friend of mine went to Frenchs forest this weekend to check things out and he reckons there's no way a Yowie would be game enough to trek all the way to your mums house because it's quite high density housing in that area. Your mum said she would call me back after visiting a friend of hers this weekend who is a fireman for Jimna state forest with any info she may have. I have not heard back so I assume there really wasn't much to tell.

Would have to disagree with you and your friend as you have Lake kuwongba[if that is how it is spelt.]On one side and Lake Samsonvale in the area..
What is the difference between thier and say Mike,s area in Sydney......

Please tell me Why it could not venture into heavy populated areas as MOST people sleep at night ...
Go for a walk in The area in question at 2 in the morning and tell me what you see...

Hi Nigel and Jeannie, I saw the newspaper article a few days ago and became interested because a volunteer group of firemen told me that they had been stalked by something most of the day at North Pine Dam a while back (They were spraying weeds at the time). The next day when they returned to the area to continue spraying they noticed that around 40 saplings about 80mm in diameter had been snapped off at the 2-3 meter mark from the ground. Alarmed, they confronted the park ranger who told them that it was the yowie and that he had seen it several times in the past. The ranger then went on to say that the yowies shake possums and gliders out of the trees, often snapping them in two, and that he had personally seen them doing this! The firemen also told me of some guys name which I've now forgotten who works at the Caboolture fire department knows more about this. I guess anything is possible, and maybe this is a case of a very curious and ballsey yowie. I have not personally seen the area where the incident happened. I came here to see if there was anything about it, and sure enough you were already onto it.


I'm glad to see the forum now has real-time posting enabled. I have been too busy to scratch myself lately and as such haven't been out in the scrub at all. Has anything major happened in the last 6 months? How's the buggy? I've collected a few bits for mine but haven't had the time to start assembling it yet.

Very interesting. Nigel & jeannie are right. Lake Kurwongbah & Samsonvale dam are virtually side by side separated by Dayboro Road. While I don't know where the house is in relation to the sighting, there are plenty of places for a Yowie to live. It's not that far from Enoggerra Creek...

My interest in Yowies was piqued after visiting this site. I lived on Samsonvale Road in the 70's and Lake Samsonvale was my favourite haunt. I had an experience I couldn't explain when I was young. and used to go running at night. While I didn't see anything, I definately heard footsteps of something trailing me one night. After months of fearlessly running along lonely roads and bush, I never went out again.

I didn't tell anyone until some years later my best friend told me of a frightening encounter one night in the very same spot. He had come out one evening to the dam to play a recorder and listen to it over the water when something took offence and started shaking a tree at him from near the waters edge... He didn't hang around. He thinks it was a Koala... I think that's how he sleeps at night.

I still had no idea what it could be until I heard of an incident around Lake Kurwongbah in the 80's when a friend of mine told me her brother and his friends fled a campsite after being confronted by a 10ft two legged red-eyed hairy something.

Christmas 2003 and I got Rienhold Meissners "My search for the Yeti" and now I'm hooked.

Pine Rivers used to have many green belts that linked it North to Kennilworth, Maleny, Monteville, Kilcoy, Glasshouse mountains, Gympie... south to Ormeau, Tamborine, Canungra... west to Gatton...

Purely speculative... but it makes you think?

Last six months,Springbrook has gone off a couple off times with one of the guys getting sounds of what sounds like a whale sound howling thru the bush...
have you heard it if not let us know and will send you a copy.

Had something not more than 15 feet get up in front of us and move the trees and grass with this almighty thumping.
Strange thing was that the 3 people looking at it Seen nothing.Yet we seen it move the trees and surrounds...

Maybe this is where the para normal comes into effect..

Go Cart I killed jumping.need new engine mounts .Got some good tracks happening so hury up they are s;owly closing down the bush..

Also Jason boondoomba dam near Proston got a report of 2 fisherman that where out early at xmas .
As they came around a bend in thedam they said they seen a man rowing a boat close to shore .As they got closer they noticed no boat.
Upon closer inspection they said this Thing was actually wadeing in the shallows.It apparently looked at them and slowing walked out of the water into the bush which meets the water...
Jeannie and I checked it out a couple off weeks ago big dam but looks promising....interested in a camping trip with the boats.....

Still got your boat as we brought a newer one so when we going fishin....
Also Mt mee heard a rumor about campers being harassed in thier tents.Still checking this one out .....

The story from Springbrook sounds interesting, especially in light of the interview I had with Debbie who saw the thing at close range twice in the early nineties. Her first encounter with the Yowie was a mexican-standoff type affair that lasted 20 minutes or so, the second time it was just standing on the side of the road on a bend. She heard it too many times for her to recall as well. Another thing she said was that she was once stalked at close range by it in the bush and could even hear it's breathing but was unable to see it. This freaked her out, and her faithful guard dog left her for dead it was so scared. Ask Debbie about what she has heard and the first thing she recalls is the loud stomping sound it made followed by it's bloodcurdling screams. Did you have your experience during the day or night? You're most likely right about the Paranormal aspect of the Yowie, and this coupled with my current work load is one of the reasons I have been a little distanced from the Yowie phenomena altogether.


I bet the guy at the mower shop where you brought your cart regrets the day you ever walked into there. Surely knocking up some engine mounts isn't too difficult? I thought you were going to say you got the cart airborne and stacked halfway up into a tree or something. I have heard they are trying to close down the bush in Narangba and elsewhere, but the way I see it is there'll still be places to go. I'm becoming a little concerned too by all the large scale developments and construction in the area. They reckon suburban sprawl will extend from Noosa to the Gold Coast within twenty years, dwarfing even the urban sprawl of Los Angeles! I'll be going further north long before that even begins to happen. Already the Pumice Stone Passage is becoming heavily polluted from surrounding suburbia and it's set to worsen with the 60,000 homes planned for behind Wild Horse Mountain.


Yeah I still have a boat, and use it now and again. I'm interested in a wave-ski as well sometime in the future also. What type of boat did you buy? I'm surprised you have a new one as last I heard you said you were selling up and getting out of the boating scene altogether. What changed your mind?

Bloody Springbrook as this is twice now that I have seen this sort of thing .
To see the grass and bush come alive in front of you not more than 15 feet.
AND See nothing But hear it leave with this almighty thumping and then just stop.

We searched and searched and Nothing in the area ..

And once out the back of Wamuran simplier thing came around a corner in the creek and these two things just got up and took off, one going on a 45 straight up the hill.The other doing a very close horse shoe around us and darting into the bush behind us .To be honest it would have passed within 5feet off the person at the back and he saw nothin but felt it go past. ..
The thumping sounded like 2 footed horses.

The one that went up the hill on a 45 just vanished,

Springbrook was clear fine day.
Wamuran was clear early morning as sun was rising.

Boat 5.3 with pod 70 yamaha set up for offshore,got just about everything.43 mph flat out.full storm covers etc...

I have heard a growl no more than 20 metre's in front of me and saw nothing also had a 'something' sneaking behind me while my back was turned only to turn around and investigate and see nothing

I can relate very well to not being able to see the very large "critter" that should be directly in front of you no more than 15 meters or so away.

This has happened to me twice for sure, and i can assure you it is very frustrating. Knowing that something is walking around in dry bush on 2 legs snapping branches in broad daylight and not being able to see anything is also scary.

On both occasions I was with someone, and we just couldn't figure it out.

It's even more annoying when I am more on the "flesh and blood" side of the fence.
