Brisbane Extra just phoned. They are doing a show in Kilcoy next week and want a few Yowiehunters/Yowie stories/witnesses for the show.

Have passed on Nigel and Jeannies # for now. If anyone has some time next week - PM them and see how they are off for numbers.

Good day had by all, watch for our resident man-hunk Stevie charming the reporter & Yowies alike   Apparently the story will air this Friday 15/04/2005 at 5:30p.m.

It will be interesting to se how the footage is edited - & especially interesting to see if they show the "surprise" that the 2 Robs found for them ( & no we didn't set it up !! )
Cheers

You & me both Peta, the reporter seemed a lot more "interested" up in the scrub, funny how they didn't show the footage of her genuine surprise  at the footprint, and yes, the footprint that was shown was real, ( found by the other Rob & myself while we were casting about for any evidence to show them ) & was a lot more visible than it looked on TV, but not good enough to cast.

Ah well, at least WE all acted professionally & ethically with OUR information to them. :?

Another small point, all the evidence that we showed them was found within 300 metres of one of our base camps.

Thanks for the link Peta, it's a pity it was handled the way it was.

When definite proof comes out, that same reporter will be claiming she knew all along that yowies were real. :?

Jesus. I read the transcript.. I think she might have been taking the piss.

I'm kind of glad I didn't see it now. The irony, my sister did though; she doesn't believe in yowies at all. She said it was amusing.

This smash and grab type of journalism gives me the tom tits.

Its also called parachute journalism; someone who knows nothing about a story or its background is dropped into it from a long way away, has a quick whip around, then gets taken out.

I reckon this site ought to start up a special section called the "shame pages" just for dud stories from journalists whose only motivation is to sensationalise the issue and sell copies to readers who cant tell the difference between truth and fantasy.

Conversely there could be "fame pages" for well researched stories from serious journos who make an effort to get to grips with the issues.

It might help deter pestiferous journos if they knew beforehand that their c**p would be paraded on the internet for all to see.

Worth a thought?

I just had a read of that report , and all I can say is , I'm glad I was workin' and couldn't get down there for the day ! We can't get 9 out here so I missed the story on the TV as well . Still , it would have been a good day to catch up with some of the crew ! Next time !

Anyway , good on ya's and I hope it didn't air as lame as it reads !

That reporter needs a good hard back-hand.

I was downright disgusted when I read that bloody transcript. Lucky I missed it.

You know how it is, a beer after work on a Friday turns into twenty and you get all forgetful-like.

Probably a good thing that I didn't see it, but. I was going to tell all of my skeptical mates about it.

Imagine that.

"Alright boys, prepare to be converted........"

And then this doodle comes along and tells the whole bloody world that only fruit-loops believe in yowies.

I kinda wish that I had gone to Kilcoy to meet this journo. I woulda scared the sucka so bad he'd be prayin for a yowie.

Hey Romeo,

I know it can get frustrating at times, But getting angry about the main stream belief really wont change much.
Honestly I couldnt care who thinks im a fruit loop or whatever for what I believe in.

All you can do is show the evidance, What facts are known and let them come to their own decision.
In saying that I wouldnt waste my time unless they atleast had an open mind about the possibilty first.

Believe Us it could have been alot worse.....

Boils down to the editor I suppose..

If they would have aired the lot[instead off cut and shut :x ]Could have been some really good veiwing...

I thought they were kind to us ,considering some of the shows they have done in the past..on the topic.

Anyway havent we all got broad shoulders ,as we have

I know exactly where you're coming from.

I just think that it isn't real fair for the guys who went out of their way to help 'Extra', after they asked for help, to flip it around like that.

Like you said mate, 'open-mind'.

They had a pre-concieved idea of what they were going to do, at the expense of those trying to do the right thing.

The least they could have done was give them a fair go.

I also forgot to mention in my last post that I really respect what you guys did, too. There's always next time though, right? I just wish I could see the look on the journo's face when the 'startling new evidence' that you guys find makes the front page.

And thanks for your post too, mikka. I've calmed down a bit now, put away my trusty, bloodstained baseball bat and remembered that everyone thought that Galileo was a fruit-loop when he said the world was round.
