Yowie Encounters

Unread post by Ruby Lang »

Hi All,

FYI I found the following anonymous encounters at http://home.austarnet.com.au/buzby/creatures3.html

"Townsville Terror" - Submitted by Anonymous from Queensland, Australia.

My family lives on a small farm just out of Townsville. One night I was walking around the perimeter of our yard when I got the feeling I was being watched from the other side of the fence. I jumped over the fence and started walking into the bush, all I had to see where I was going was my flash light. I went down into an old creek bed and stood still. Just then there was a screeching noise from behind me. I turned and shone the light towards the noise. Standing there was the most terrifying sight I have seen. It was about 4 meters tall with shaggy brown fur all over it's body, it looked human but it was not, and it's eyes glowed red from the torch light. I also noted that there was a smell in the air like rotting flesh. I was so scared I could not move, then it started moving toward me. I dropped the flash light and started running back to the house. I could hear it chasing me until I got to the fence.

I got back home just after 8pm. I have never told anyone about this. Sometimes, at night, I'm sure I can here that screeching noise it made, or it might just be an owl. All I know is that I don't know what it was and I will never go walking around the yard alone.

My dad found the flash light I dropped the next day. It was smashed to bits.

"Yowie on the Road" - Submitted by Anonymous from Wagga Wagga, Australia

Many years ago my mother, auntie, nephew and sister were driving between Young and Cowra (N.S.W.) in the early morning, when something stepped onto the road in front of their car. My mother slammed on the breaks and for a brief moment they all got a good look at the creature. It was humanoid in shape, very tall and very thin, and it was covered in long dark hair. The creature stared back at them for a few seconds and then lumbered off into the trees on the side of the road.

That stretch of road between Young and Cowra is well known for sightings of strange things. I have heard many stories from people that use that road frequently (truck drivers especially) about the odd experiences they have had.

4mtrs  , I've never heard of one that big.
I know they probably over estimated it's height but that's almost double compared to the usual sightings.

What would that be....... about 12ft..... 13ft.... Take off a couple of "exageration feet" and it's about right.

I think it got it's message through about the flashlight?

Hi Guys,

I'm tempted to point out that the dropping of the torch could have resulted in the damage...but as someone who has dropped numerous torches over the years, I have never had one smash, so that would seem unlikely.

Then again, Dolphins and Maglites are particularly renowned for their hardiness - I can't vouch for the $2 jobs.

One would imagine that it was dropped on either grass or dirt. I've never broken a torch by doing that, but anything is possible.

...theyowieboy... I love the fact that you are going through the old archives and reviving some of old posts (rad) (thumb up) ... what people posted in 2005 etc is as relevant today as it was then! (respekt) (rad) ... it's great to see that somebody that is so new to these forums has such an active inquisitiveness to go through the old archives... good on you my friend (thumb) (claps) (rad) ...

... keep up the good work... with young people such as yourself taking the time to read through all of them... it is a credit to you... myself ... I've only been on here for just over 2 years... I can honestly say that I have never read ALL of the posts on here... if you see merit in some of the OLD posts... continue the great work... **Sticky gives theyowieboy a pat on the back** ... well done my friend... cheers... Lol...dropped the torch. Personally I wouldnt drop mine...it was waay too expensive and i think Dean could probably vouch for its probable effectiveness of making any Yowie run in the other direction immediately
