Hi All

I just have a question. Yowies are mostly nocturnal right.

Now the question I have is, are they more active at night than day in Summer and perhaps more active during day than night in Winter?

In other words, does their night/day activity cycle shift depending on whether it is Summer or Winter?

Its seems logical that during summer, they would rest more during the day, to escape the heat. However in winter when its colder, are they more active during the day?

I think that would be a fair assumtion to make, mate.

I was thinking along the same lines as this the other day. But what I was wondering is, does Yowie activity drop off during winter ? and if so then what do people think the cause of this is ?
Is it because Yowies go into a kind of hibernation period ?
or
Is it because people are less inclined to venture outdoors into the cold weather?

I would have thought that Yowie reports would increase due to less food being available, which should bring them in closer to populated areas looking for food.

I think less people would venture out in the rain and cold to go camping ect. Even skiers tend to stick to the ski trails. Not hard to avoid if your smart!

My thinkings along the same line as Dawns. Yowies might hibernate, but I think its unlikely.

Most likely in Winter, fewer people are venturing out and about and so any Yowie activity goes unseen.

Another thing to remember, the Yowies might become more active during the day in Winter, but wouldn't they be more cautious during daylight hours. At night, they have the cover of darkness, during the day, they'd have to be more cautious.

WHAT ABOUT MIGRATE?

hi good ppls,
i still think winter is the best time to camp
and hike at nite and seem to get a bite more
action in the cooler mths here in QLD
on bitterly cold nites never seem to get much
action .but at jimna action on about 80% of trips
summer or winter.

summer or winter.[/quote]= steven this is very intresting it makes me wonder if there is any hibernation time for the yowies and if there was would they hibernate in big caves or othere ereas and as for migration thats a good point and if yowies are on the move alot what would be the ideal ereas for them to go to surely even they would like some warmth unlless they get it from constanly being on the move which brings us back to the migration thing , and even the yowie would need to take a break somewhere warm or remote and if it rained and poured would they still migrate to a warmer and dryer ereas, and ereas where theres food for survival
