In 12 hours we have..

1/Returned to the paddock where the large cat was seen which moved behind a log and left cat like hairs on the log.
We returned today and found "cat like " hairs all along some sections of the fence on the barb wire.ergo, either the worlds laziest cat is shredding hairs repeatedly on a section of fence..or...poddy calf hair is very cat like. (death)
2/Guy rings up last night, he appeared to know a fair amount of information on cats in OZ.He rang my mobile from a silent number or a public phone.
About to give him my PO Box for some very interesting "data"..his phone line cuts out..he doesnt ring back.. (woot)
3/Guy emails and says he just found a large dead brown cat(size of a beagle) beside the road up the north coast. He attempts to take a few photos as he is in a rush with his wife and kid...and the camera batteries are flat so he leaves.. (curse)

Outside of the 12 hours we had a bus load of tourists in Little hartley valley see a "panther" and not one had a camera handy..they are tourists..???????? (kill)
This is like some running bad joke...
What next... (burnt up)

Mike, I reckon the guy on the phone was pulling your chain.

I have recently placed a few roo carcases and observed the slow dissapearance of parts.
I have also 'lessened' the numbers of foxes in the area, and roo carcases are still being eaten, more slowly. One was placed in a quiet place last thurs, but completely gone by sunday. It was about 30 kg. Possibly dragged away.
There is some wild pig activity at present, so I will take some control of that issue, and try again. In summer, there is less pig activity too. I'll keep you posted.

Hi Hillbilly - do you put the roos up a tree out of pig reach? Just thinking that Paul Clacher's found a few half eaten and wedged in tree forks... could be worth replicating?

Hahaha - I can see it now

Researcher: I put the carcass in the tree thinking if it was big cats, they'd still be able to get at it there...

Local paper: So as you can see, big cat activity has increased this month, with yet another roo carcass found up a tree.

(claps hands)
