Yeah MIke
i think we touched on this subject before, those LED lights are far and above a better light, thry now come out in larger sizes, when shone into a persons face it is 3 times more powerfull, they do suck the battery life i carry 2 in my backpack just in case of an unexpected encounter, ther are inferior ones available, but i found some of the better camping and outdoor suppliers have good quality items

Where would be a good place to get them as I need some decent lights (and avoid imitations).

Hey all

I bought myself a LED LENSER P14 about 6-7 months ago, I can’t recommend them enough. They are super bright; in fact I took it the last expedition to Queensland. it powered above the mag-lite that most people where carrying.

I remember hitting the switch on the torch around base camp about 1:00 or 2:00 in the morning and because of its brightness I got a few eager responses to turn the darn thing off.

Here’s a link to some specs

I bought mine from the link Ringmaster provided ‘Led torches Australia’

By the way Ringmaster welcome to the forums

Hey Forestguy

Yeah I’m still here (poke tongues) , in fact I have been on here everyday for months (getting rid of newly signed up members which are 99% just spam) As you know members have to be approved before they can access the forum. We have been getting around 30 spammers a day signing up. If they have a name which makes no sense or an email addy that comes up on the spam registry they get the boot and are deleted promptly. I just haven’t been posting as much as what I used to.

By the way I have been meaning to ask where you got your avatar from, I have tried looking for it on the net but cant seem to find any reference to it.

Yeah, it's a cracker isn't it. I stole it from YowieMan at the BFF (I only use it here) - it's from Turramulli The Giant Quinkin by Percy Tresize & Dick Roughsey.

I'm trying to track down a copy actually, it's one of the things from my childhood that sparked my interest...

Edit to add: I've just ordered an old ex-library copy from the US today, should be here in a few weeks - I've had no luck finding a local copy...

Thanks forestguy

I seem to remember that book from my childhood much like yourself.

Good luck with the book
