Jerry shows me an amazing find from his early morning walk. He walks this little track frequently.

Interesting and hard to explain. The tree was actually pinned down like a sling-shot.

That is amazing footage! What it's for is the question. If it's a marker then it's a big marker saying look how tough I am. But maybe it's a food thing? Bend the tree down, grab a possum sandwich or a magpie salad. Why pin it in place though?

If it was done by a Yowie, I would think that that is exactly what it is, Dean and Buck, a display of power. It seems unusual that it was placed by the pathway Jeff and his wife used regularly, as if to say "Yep, don't mess with me, look what I can do!"

I can't imagine why a human would do something like this, but I'd imagine there would have to be rope marks on the top of the tree from where they pulled it down. Not sure how much effort/pulling strength would be required to bend this tree though it would seem to be quite a lot, given the circumference of the trunk.

Kind regards,
Shazz
