Possible Yowie print

Unread post by RingMaster »

Hi guys, love reading everyone posts
intro:
I'm 35yr old male, when I was growing up I spent most of my weekends with my 4 brothers on my grandmothers farm chasing wild ducks, rabbits and foxs. along with this my dad used to take us fishing and camping quite allot (to some quite remote area's).
When I got my drivers lic I started hunting ferral pigs with dogs, as far as Birdsvile, Willcania, Menindie Lakes, Condo, Lake Cajelico, Tumberumba, tumut, Rosewood, Batlow, Talbingo, Wee Jasper and also a few times up along the QLD NSW border. The majority of these place's were hunted at night (and twilight), the rough or swampy area's on foot. I also often hunted the closer regions alone due to my hours of work. And now I am getting into chasing brumbies with a friend (not killing or hurting them).

Any way so I love the bush and have spent a lot of time in some places that don't see many people.

Now I think of myself as an open minded person but a bit of a sceptic, now with all my time in the bush I never had a visual encounter with a Yowie.
But having said that , I have seen a couple of unexplainable things (one which gives me goose bumps to this day, when I think about it).

This is something that may be of interest on this discussion board
PS. This isn't the one that gives me goose bumps.
When I was about 19 or 20, think it was early summer about 9 or 10am, I was riding a "postie" bike along a dirt track close to Tooma river, while heading to the river I was looking for pig tracks on the wet patch's of the road, on the way out there was a print that wasn't there on the way in (30 to 40mins earlier), to my surprise I wasn't familiar with the print, it was about the same length as my foot but wider at the heel with little to no arch, really rectangular, kind of like a wombats hind foot but way too big, 5 toes but from memory had like claw indents in the ground in front of each toe.
I don't know who or what left the print, it was along a power line but not in the cleared area, it was crossing an offshoot track and seemed to be going in the same direction as a small creek parallel to the power line (but in the thick scrub), it spooked me a bit so I just road off and didn't try to find more prints or track it, I was staying at a nearby farm with 2 friends, when they didn't believe what I describe, they were the first and last to hear about it until now. I have never seen a print like it since.
The print was at approx 35 57'59 S - 148 13'41 E on google earth

Cheers

Ringmaster, I'm so glad you're posting here--what a find! How I wish I could have seen that print! Wish you'd had the material with you to make a plaster cast, but how could you have known? I've seen a 22-inch cast that a friend near Tishomingo, Oklahoma, found that was right by a creek bed. Now, I'd dearly love to hear about the experience that gave you goosebumps, if you wouldn't mind posting it. (taz) (claps hands)

Hey Ringmaster

[ 1stly welcome aboard ] I checked out the Tooma area on mapmaker it is very remote , I used to go rabbit shooting in that area many years ago and so have a great respect for that country .

I think that if ever there was a place for a refugee left over from times long past to exist then this surely would be it , it bears all of the qualities required eg: plenty of cover , fresh water supply and an almost limitless food source .

I'll bet that any thing living in that environ would be very large as are the wild pigs that frequent that zone . An excellent find certainly an area worth more effort . (detective)

MY FINAL DECISION IS MAYBE .............
IF YOU DO NOT LOOK YOU WILL NOT SEE
