Darwin monkeys, the legend continues.

Apparently a few of the passangers also saw the little critter so there seems to some substance to the story.

The NT bus service released a video still from their camera but it was very grainy and far from definitive. As usual it all came back to eye-witness reports and we know how frustrating that can be.

Sightings like this happen every 5 years or so in Darwin but it's unknown if there is actually a feral monkey population, someone's illegal missing pet or mistaken identity.

About 10 years ago a vet claimed he spotted one on a beach so you would think he knew what he was talking about.

Stranger things have happened. It was only a few months ago that a pigmy hippo was shot up here.
