Last Weekends Exp

It seems to be go go go here at AYR HQ!

Last Weekend we checked Cam's that had been deployed for nearly 3 Months with great expectations. FAIL thus far, although we are yet to check through it all with decent audio set up. The audio on the Laptop wasn't loud enough to make anything out. The one Cam that I have had checked on our home PC has something audible walking around the Cam, and something pushed an object in front of the lens.

The Cam that we held the most hope for, had great footage of a Deer, but unfortunately not quite the target. I will post that to Youtube. Very clear footage and quite impressive.

While there on the Saturday night, we had a creature walk down a hill behind us in a straight line. It was a thinker and moved with deliberate action. Very audible. Each time it made too much noise, it stopped before resuming. Sounded like it was sneaking down. When it came close, it basically say there and didn't move from that time on. All very stereotypical of Yowie behavior. The the X5's Computer decided to have a spasm and we left at around 2am to a location with phone reception.

Would have been nice to have a decent Parabolic with us (gave my last unit away), so I fixed that problem - picking up a new one tonight. I had a play with the same model at Kilcoy and was kicking myself for not having one with me. We brought it for trade price @ $425.

Then we popped into Kilcoy the next day. 46 people in total. Steve Bott said they had some action the night prior. We were too tired to spend another night in below zero, so headed home just after midnight.

Next Weekend we head to the Blue Mountains for another adventure. Looking forward to using the Parabolic and meeting up with everyone.

We will bring a few Trial Cam's with us.

Dean and Team, good job. I reckon it's only a matter of time before a trailcam comes up with the goods, so it's always gratifying to hear of your findings RE the cams. And yeah, it's either bloody freezing or bloody hot in Australia, so I'm not surprised you all nearly froze your extremities off at the two sites, home by midnight or NOT!

I'm a bit housebound with a dodgy knee at the moment, but did get out for a drive to Glasshouse a couple of weeks back. Got some nice photos, but nothing of the hairy guy, which is to be expected from a vehicle, but hey, I enjoyed it. Lots of Dept. of Primary Industries 'study areas' up there. I hope they don't end up selling off the Forestry land to the Developers as is in the pipeline at the moment - goodness knows what impact that will have on the hairy locals up that way.

Glad you are all back safe and sound.

Hey Tony, yeah, and all for MONEY. Unfortunately, the ones who seek money will rise to the top, because it is their primary drive in life and they know nothing else. Some gain wisdom as they age, and learn they were wrong. These are the people who are now some of the biggest philanthropists we have, I just wish that our lifestyle didn't have to compromise the health of our earth, and that we seem to be having children who seek more and more entertainment and diversion that is reliant on technology, batteries and electricity. Generalisations, I know, but you should see the local kids almost have a conniption when the power fails and they can't watch TV/play Wii/use their X Box/ PC etc.!

Nice work DH and Steve. I`m with Shaz here - its only a matter of time before you guys get something interesting with this equipment. Exciting stuff. Stay diligent with it.

hey Dean

were the trail cams the standard type that take 4 C size batteries ?...and they lasted 3 months??, maybe its the tropical weather up here but we only seem to get 4 weeks out of our batteries
Q: did the Trail cam take photos right through the 3 month period??

cheers
