Hey everone ,
Just thought I'd share with you , a clip of an irridium satellite I took the other week . I really thought I had something here but after a little research , found out that these are quite common . I've never seen one until only recently .
Cheers Rusty2..........

In regards to clarifying if you are observing an anomalous deep space object or not??? Heavens Above is a great website to use....
http://www.heavens-above.com/.
I actually observed a strange satellite-like light in the sky for several consecutive nights in January, 2009. The light did not appear until around 10:35pm or so..... this was well after normal sightings of satellites (twilight-dusk period) and as I was using Heavens Above was not a conventional satellite. The light would flash once every 15-18 seconds and each seperate night it maintained its position for over an hour. Incidentally it would appear in different positions and it was just a flash of light which would repeat every 15 seconds or so. This was not a constant light..... and hence not a star. I have been an amateur stargazer since I was a kid... I repeat this was not a star. The light would appear almost directly overhead and was never close to the horizon. This was not an aircraft, helicopter, weather balloon etc etc. Due to the height I conclude that this thing was high in orbit.... and the repeatable flash every 15 seconds was probably sun reflecting off a particular surface area of the object... indicating that it was probably rotating on its axis....
If it was in a high orbit I`m puzzled how it could have maintained its position. Satellites usually need to be at geosynchronous orbit to maintain their position (35,000 km or so) which I suspect is too far away to be noticeable even if it is giving off a substantial light..... The other option was that it was an object that was maintaining the same speed as the Earth`s rotation??? Dunno its a mystery to me!!!
Sydney Observatory also has a sightings page for conventional and unconventional stuff?
