Main site down for two weeks

Unread post by Lasso »

As you guys know we have had some problems with our main site while doing some well needed updates.
It seems our software is to old and with the site getting so big ,anyone looking at the site was giving out web host server problem not only effecting our site but every other one of their clients.

We have decide to do a major upgrade to the back end to fix this issue, you will not notice too much on the front end once we can get the site back up. Unfortunately until this upgrade is done the web host refuses to put back up our site. it could take up to two weeks.

We have a lot more reports to add and hope to get things back to normal the very beginning of January.

In the mean time I am trying to work out a solution with the web host to get the site back up if possible.

Thank you for all your support.

Dean, Lasso and Dion;

Thanks for your mostly unseen efforts. If I can help with anything, please feel free to contact me and I'll do whatever you ask.

In the intrim, I figure I and others are going to suffer serious site withdrawl angst lacking a daily fix.

A sincere Merry Christmas to everyone and looking forward to a great new year for the site and the community here at AYR.

Again, thank you to all the gold, yellow, blue & red folks for all you do that most of us never see. Take care and everyone be safe over the hols.

Cheers,

nopolys

Updated update on updates, updated.

Slowly making progress with the new Site. Thus far the Site has been copied in full to a test location, however there are still many glitches that require mending before we can make the new changes. The quoted price was very good (the 'quoted' price).

At this stage, we should have at least 50 - 60 new reports to add, plus an increase on the Historical side and a big shuffle of format, some of which may/may not be noticed. Expedition reports will return.

After sifting through past backups from the 90's, it is amazing just how much data has dropped out during upgrades.

Priority for myself at this stage is the Website and bring it back to what it should be. Once completed, it will be back to the forests and working more closely with some of the members here on the board (more personal comunication and calaboration etc).

Hopefully, we can have the new Site (which will maintain the same look), up with in two to three Weeks for the initial return, but possibly a couple of Months to re-scan documents, Newspaper articles, writings and photo's.

Thanks to everyone contributing on our Forum. Continue your research. We will assist the best we can in regard to information. This year will raise some eye brows - something will come to light that you shall see in time.

Happy New year to all in the AYR community! May the new year bring us fascinating facts, love, happiness and all that warm and fuzzy stuff. And hopefully some further understanding and contact with our shy, hairy friends.

And agreeing with something NoPolys and others have expressed, the work that the board/admin peeps do behind the scenes is so much appreciated. I can only speak for myself, but having a forum to share experiences and knowledge and to be able to learn from what others are doing and discovering is fantastic. Let me know if I can ever be of any assistance.

Walking down the street I get the most looks I have ever had in my life. I felt free, but something wasn’t right, the looks I got where different, strange somehow, so I changed it back to my normal profile.

Hope you don’t mind I know you were keen on Afarensis look.

Awwww, Dion, you could've at least sent me a photo before you regained your human nose! I could've made it into a poster for my wall.
