Will this work? Tech head!

Unread post by The yowie Mrx »

I got and old satellite dish the same as this one.
Will this work?
If I got a digitale recorder and faced the mic towards the dish. Will it pick up better.?
I played around with it and it seems to work.If you get it in the right spot.

Let me know if it worth while and I can use it on a property.

G'day Mr X,

Should work extremely well. I bought a small parabolic microphone from Jaycar for about $60 and is excellent.

MrX. Notice the Dish and the Mic location has to be as the Receiver was originally. They are offset to keep the receive out of the viewing line of the signal. It is this location that will give the best received signal.
Good luck (thumb up)

Yes, should work well. The focus is offset so use the same mount position. Also, use neoprene foam to mount the microphone as it is a pretty good absorber of sound from other than the dish. Many stubby holders are neoprene foam.

A big thanx To all the tech heads on the forum. (rad)

When I was playing around with it,it seem to be a very clear sound.
I tryed the PBC piping and it seem to be a very hollow sound.I will do the PBC piping way for the bush. And I will do the dish way on farms when thay get activity going on.

Cheers (thumb up)
