Four friends and I went to the base of Mt Beerwah to camp the night it was a moon light night no wind, we had a campfire going. We need more fire wood so I decided to go get some. The moon was behind me as I was picking up dead branches going up an embankment I heard a noise in front of me, suddenly about 10m in front this thing stepped out from behind a tree and ran up the embankment I ran the other way told my friends who didnt believe me. you know how you get two posts with a 44 gal drum for a bin you could hear something making it swing scared for the rest of the night you bet ya. My friend obtained the Yowie Trackers Disc for me off Steve well worth it I ve been following AHR since Dean opened the segment but keeping low profile

Went up to Gregory Downs Qld working 2 years ago to do work for the aborigine people, we stayed at the dongers behind the pub. Some nights you could smell which was like strong Horse pee I ask one of the elders if he heard of the hairy men and he said they were about One day early we grabbed some canoes went up stream put the canoes in and started paddling. About lunch time we got to where the river went both ways leaving an island in the middle as we approached it all these things got up and ran the other way it was not just me who had seen them. They must have been trying to get out of the heat as we went passed you could smell that smell again. Working at Bunya Riverside (Bris) heard this sceaming in the bush sounded like Sierra sounds

Thanks for sharing that with us Geoff, it's alway good to hear from the actual witnesses. Can you provide and exact/close date of the encounter - also do you have a more detailed description about the appearance of the creature and how it moved?

The one I saw at Mt Beerwah was from crouching position to spin around like we do and run from side to side up the embankment and the same in Gregory Downs Behind Moby Vics just about to drive on dirt track I was parked (Johnson Rd) talking to friend on phone when suddenly this came out of the bushes I thought it was a pig but was bigger and ran like a chimp 45 degrees angle a real jaw dropper so Im going up there next week with some friends so I can show them Im not crazy

The one I saw at Mt. Beerwah was a sillouette of something about 4 to 6 ft in height and hairy no smell October 1979. Gregory Downs 2 years ago putred smell around dongers down the river Id say it was a family what we saw from canoe were black and hurrying away trying not to be spotted smell like around dongers as we went by. A group of us heard something at the Barron Falls Cairns, where the carpark is looking left of the falls it very dense rainforest one night we went to look at the falls moonlight night suddenly this noise like high pitch jibberish and trees swaying around we swung the torch over to see what was making the noise but couldnt see anything what ever it was it was mad cause the palms and that were really swinging. I know what I see and hear I believe real to make someone to believe is another

Boats?

I have to ask, in areas with big waterways, would you have a chance of seeing something from the boat? I've read of quite a few reports of people seeing bigfeet/yowies on the shore. All you'd need is a spotlight & good ears/microphone; am I right?

Yeah mate , I'd have to say a caneo would be the best for the job ! I've been going to do it for a while now , but I've never gotten around to it !Stealth mode ! Paddle until you see a likely spot , do a bit of a search for possable evidence , if nothing becomes of it , just move along further up the creek !
Sweet Nig , lets get that plane into gear mate ! It's been up in the air for awhile now , so lets plan it !

Hello Geoff, when did your encounter @ Glasshouse occur? The reason I ask is because a friend of mine had a somewhat scary encounter there at the Macadamia nut farm.

The macadamia nut farm is actually part of the Big Pineapple. Which is in Nambour, a hop skip and a shambling gait away from Kilcoy, Kennilworth Maleny, Noosa, Bribie Island, Monteville, Glasshouse mountains... etc My guess is that with all that food around more than tourists pop by.

Further north you have Cooroy, Eumundi, Yandina and Gympie... get my drift

When I was about 6 my brother and I shared a bedroom together at my parents High set place in Clontarf Qld. not many houses were around then. My side was against the window so I could see the back steps. Some nights Id be awoken to the sound of someone walking up and down the steps, the toilet by the way was downstairs Id peer out to see who it was and I could see this big human like figure going up and downI thought it was my Dad then it went out into the moonlight and it was hairy and big I jumped over behind my brother real quick I tried to tell my brother who didnt believe me . Id hear it once and while but kept it to myself. The family would watch Gillians Island on TV the gorilla eposoide I could not watch it because that is what I saw out my window those nights scared by myself one stuffed up kid. Grade 9 before I saw a gorilla at Taronga zoo still it wasnt what Id saw. Then in grade 10 started to read Thats Life magizines mysterious encounters, Springbrook Rex Gilroy about Yowies in the Gold Coast hinterland and had a photo of bigfoot that is what I had seen from my bedroom window all those years ago . So Id follow every details about bigfoot Monsters Mysteries and Myths was agood one alot of detail about bigfoot stalking throwing rocks. Then found out AHR website on line but I keeping low profile but keeping up with whats happening. Keep up the good work.

Hey Geoff , that story reminded me of something that used to happen at my Nan & Pops years ago , back in the mid 70's . They also lived at Margate/Clontarf and I would stay over alot of the time ! I even had my own room , which was at the back of the house , it was more of a sewing room with my bed and toys in it !
Anyway , I remember I used to get little visitors late at night ! They were about 3ft in hight and very thick set ! They would run back and forth past my bedroom door , and each time before they would run past , they would peek around the corner of the doorway , into the room ! This would go on for maybe an hour almost every night ! Then they would be gone , just like that ! I used tell my Nan & Pop about the little people that would come in the house after everyone was asleep , but they never believed me , and thought I was having nightmares ! Although I was scared stiff , I never really thought they were there to hurt me , it was as though they wanted to play ! I'd just stay on the bed with the blanket pulled up to my chin and wait for them to leave !
Now this may very well have been my imagination , but then again , maybe it was real !

Interesting. Yowies seem to use Beerwah State Forest for cover when heading to the Pumistone Passage. Coming from the mountains the best cover seems to be the area around Ewen Maddock Dam through the state forest and possibly using the creek crossings to negotiate the highway.

It is unfortunate that this habitat is gradually closing to Yowies.

However, the combination of land clearing and wet weather would make the Roys Rd area worth inspecting for footprints.

If anyone has had the chance of seeing harry will know how quick they can move.
The one I saw in my car at Moby Vics (Johnson Rd. Beerwah) it was like looking through the
windscreen something caught my left eye and there he was running accross the track from left to right.
He was moving that quick it was just like frame by frame in a camera.
They are quick so not detected
They can adapt to the enviroment
Camoflague to there surroundings

If cornered who knows
What would you do if confronted by a yowie by yourself,
1-RUN?
2-FAINT?
3-CALL DEAN?
4-USE AN AIRHORN?
Sandy Creek and Bellthorpe woods off Stoney Creek Rd. Kilcoy worth looking at!
5-STAND YOUR GROUND?
6-TAKE A PICTURE?
