Wolf/Coyote ?

"Navajo Police Officers mount a new hunt for The Howler a mysterious creature believed to have killed dogs and livestock. Some of the elders in the community suspect it might be a Skinwalker, while others insist that its the Navajo version of Bigfoot. As they sweep through a remote canyon, the heavily-armed cops actually hear the chilling sound caught on tape and they think its coming from a cave high in the cliffs. Have they finally tracked down the elusive Howler?"

That country in the clip is sparse semi desert country, my job takes me to simlar type of terrain, and yet stories of " creatures" abound from aboriginal and whitefellas.
My point is most people look at that sort of country and think nothing lives there.....if I was a smart predator that's exactly the country I would live in...not too many visitors.
I am currently working throughout the Barkly Tablelands.....rough hard country

Just a thought

I've been to the area of the "howler" and spoken to a number of people. Even experienced outdoorsmen are puzzled at the sound and cannot explain it.

topender makes a good point about the area. It's desert yes, but if you know the region, there are plenty of ways for a creature to avoid humans. It's an eerie part of the country.

It is interesting. Would have to have a water supply somewhere as it would get hot out there....Big feral dog?
